Fellow Warriors of the Emperor, a Shield Captain has showed outstanding strength, I need your help to honour him
Greetings to all,
About a week ago, I had a matchup against the Aeldari using my "Lions Of the Emperor/Dread Host" themed army. The game was great fun and very close until the very end, but that's not what I'm here to talk about today.
There was a single Allarus Terminator Shield Captain that outperformed himself the entire match, taking on vehicles, Elite Infantry and if memory serves, a god damn Wraith Knight, and winning every time.
Not to mention, he had the "Superior Creation" enhancement, so when he did EVENTUALLY go down in round 4 no less, he got back up and took the last objective I needed to score, killing a War Walker and a Farseer like it nothing happened.
I've basically been calling him " The Indomitable Shield Captain", but it needs something a bit more...classy. I thought about this a lot and I think this character deserves to be honoured with a proper name. It would be easy enough to just put everything into a name generator, but where's the fun in that?
So, fellow warriors, what name should this Captain be honoured by receiving? What does the community think he should be called?
Thanks for having a read of my ramble for the day, and I eagerly await everyones thoughts! And once I've fully painted him up in his Dread Host Colours, I'll post him to!

Stonestodes Update - Bikes and Allarus
Some progress on my Stodstodes army! Will be adding a few more bikes. The theme is they are statues in a forest from an old civilisation, brought back to life to fight (featuring several woodland creatures lol)

Blade Champion in Grav Tank
The forging of the Ultimum Supplicium.
During meditation this Blade Champion experienced a vision unlike any he had known in centuries of service.
He stood upon an endless plain of shattered blades. At its centre rested a single colossal sword, its point buried in the earth before the Golden Throne.
The Emperor spoke no words.
Instead, He simply placed one hand upon the blade.
When the Champion awoke, the design was burned into his memory with impossible clarity. Every proportion and every mechanism could be recalled perfectly, as though he had once forged it himself.
Rather than acting immediately, the Blade Champion sought judgment.
The design was presented before:
the artificers of the Imperial Palace
the senior Shield-Captains
the lore keepers of the Ten Thousand
They searched every vault and archive.
Eventually they discovered something astonishing.
The blueprint already existed.
It had been drafted during the Great Crusade.
The design bore annotations attributed to the Emperor Himself.
But it had never been constructed.
...
Only one suitable blade existed.
A titan-sized relic forged during the Dark Age of Technology.
It had been preserved for millennia.
Originally intended to become the execution blade of a Knight of the Imperium.
Instead...
The Custodes claimed it.
The Knight House protested.
The Fabricator-General questioned the decision.
None could overrule the authority of the Captain-General.
The relic was surrendered.
Its edge was recut.
Its balance altered.
Its machine spirit awakened.
Thus it became the relic grav tank The Ultimum Supplicium
-----
My first grav tank so I made a fun simple kitbash.
If I could give it additional rules -it would have assault on its gun. [Transport capacity of 1 blade champion] advance and change when he's inside
Melee would be Attack roll a D3+3
Ws 2+
Str 12 with lance [dev wounds]
Ap -4

Proof of Concept: Guardians of The Lost Vault
Wanted to do an army based around old treasure guardian statues. A hidden vault filled with riches, these old guardians of vast treasure make sure to make short work of any who dare to enter. Placed there by a man long dead, the stand vigilant in their purpose thousands of years later.

New to 40K and the 10,000. Would love advice on painting and a mobile list
Space marines 2 seems to have been a gateway drug for me. Three months later, and I am now 14 books into the universe and have a ~ 1600 point army.
For painting, I’ve been using the Vallejo TMM imperial gold set and a few citadel paints. I got a lot better with highlighting without obscuring shading after I started to dry brush more. That probably jumps out when comparing my first guard unit to the most recent venatari. Apart from that I would love to hear any suggestions! Also I could use advice on how to take better pictures lol.
For a list, I was aiming for something cost effective, somewhat competitive, and fun to play. I came up with a pretty mobile looking list below. I tried to avoid sisters because of the poor cost-point ratio, but I’m not completely against them. The only units I haven’t bought yet are a second set of allarus terminators and vertus praetors. So ideally everything else in the list would stay pretty close to the same. If I’m way off from ideal I could probably make some bigger changes though.
Thanks in advance!

The biggest bug safari enthusiast joins the hunt! What are your thoughts on him in custodes?
I really like the guy and his rules, but I think he isn’t as good in custodes as in other imperial armies or as good as he might have been or might be in the future(when the comfort zone of lions will inevitably go away).
For 100 points we get:
6w at T4 3+sv/4+inv and lone op
Scout 6’’ and 12’’ movement
Some alright melee and pistol shooting just so he can’t be killed by chaff
His sniper is cool. On second shot it can one shot most cheap-ish characters in the game and on third it can one shot almost all leaders and just becomes an anti tank weapon of sorts. Tyranids and demons are probably shaking in them knees at the [anti-monster 2+]. No one wants a quarter of their bloodthirster or most of their carnifex to vanish in a 2+ hit, 2+ wound and a failed 4+ save. Even if he won’t do much damage, he will surely make the opponent piss themselves a couple times or be very paranoid about their monsters and leaders.
Unfortunately lions strike again, cause all custodes basically wound shit on 4+ and better, so there’s no need in that and we have a strat for basically a unit wide epic challenge.
And the ability to reroll hits for the whole army, against a unit that he shot. This isn’t too good now, cause custodes obviously hit on 2+ and in lions they basically ignore covers and -1 to hit of most kinds, but later on it might be good with the lack of +1 to hit and maybe some other stuff becoming more prominent. I can see him in shield host, enabling reroll of regular hits to score more lethals on 5+ or maybe giving rerolls to sisters, if they eventually become more engaged in damage dealing (maybe with their new releases or something)
Anyway, lemme know what you think. I’ll probably run him in shield host at some point

Coronus Grav Carrier wip
Currently just painting my coronus for a tournament in August and I have to say painting the rivets on this thing has been a task and a half. I'm not even halfway through but luckily watching otzdarva has kept me sane

How am I supposed to win against the Tyranids combat patrol in 11th?
They have two squads of 10 termagants, barbgaunts, leapers, a prime and a psychophage round 1. We have four models. I have no idea how to hold any objectives or kill the phage - i'm playing a game in a few days. Any ideas / experience / thoughts?

Working on shadowkeepers
Been working on a small force of shadowkeepers and almost done woth my first test model as well as a shield captain where I decided to try pushing myself doing a limited palette and nmm for the first time.
I won't be doing a limited palette or nmm across the force, but with how the results are so far i may do something similar on other characters.

Think there’s hope for the Venerable Dreadnoughts?
Basically, I’m curious if anyone else thinks the new codex will buff the Contemptor dreadnought and let us swap out their weapons. I’ve only got the idea due to what they said in the Q&A video from a few days ago (being that Custodes will be able to use all their weapons, ie neutronium projectors and etc), I might be coping but it’d be nice if it happens.

Aquilon Terminators & Agamatus Jetbikes in the codex?
Do you think the Agamatus Jetbikes and Aquilon Terminators will be included in the new codex? If so, what role do you think they'll have? How do you think they'll differ from the Vertus Praetors and Allarus Terminators?

Feedback on my Shield Host/Might of the Moritoi
Hey guys,
after the balance Dataslate from yesterday, i changed my list from LOE/MOM to the Shieldhost and MOM.
I had a 5 man Allarus brick that i did cut out.
I realized that i really like the enhancments from shieldhost so i put three of them in.
I tried to go for big bricks to kill good for my purge and to deny a litte bit of the mirror matchup.
Shield Host + Might of the Moritoi - Adeptus Custodes - Purge the Foe - Shield Host, Might of the Moritoi (2020 Points)
Valerian - Warlord + 5 Custodian Wardens (370 pts)
Blade Champion with Auric Mantle + 5 Custodian Wardens (405 pts)
Shield-Captain in Allarus Terminator Armour with Panoptispex + 3 Allarus Custodians (300 pts)

Vertus Praetor question
G’day golden-ish boys and girls.
Simple question that probably doesn’t have a right answer, but the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask, right?
When assembling my lovely vertus praetors from my auric champions box, is it generally accepted to use the large oval base, or the clear base? The kit comes with both, so I assume it’s fine either way (except the clear bases historically are garbage imo), but is one considered correct as far as play goes?
