Announcement Why We Can No Longer Allow Recommendations for Dr. Salar Hazany

The moderation team has completed an extensive investigation into coordinated deceptive activity on this subreddit. The evidence concluded that Dermatologist, Dr. Salar Hazany and/or members associated with The Scar Institute of Beverly Hills in California, USA, have repeatedly created fake accounts, posed as satisfied patients, and simultaneously falsified negative outcome testimonials acting as real patients at other medical offices. The same practice was formally warned and temporarily suspended early this year but the offenses resumed and escalated.

The community’s safety and trust are non-negotiable, we have a zero-tolerance stance toward any form of covert marketing, shilling, or competitor defamation. Accounts identified as socks, shills, or alts tied to this provider have been permanently banned.

Separate from the astroturfing scheme, we have received a growing number of patient complaints that fall well outside the scope of ordinary side-effect discussions. These include:

- Innapropriate conduct and comments made to both male and female patients.

- Unexpected facial sagging, facial-fat loss, and other serious anatomical changes.

- Dr. Hazany has reportedly delegated procedures to alternate staff mid treatment to rotating medical students without the patient’s prior knowledge or consent.

We are not a medical regulator; we can, however, protect this subreddit from being used as an extension of an unethical marketing department and from becoming an unwitting referral pipeline for a provider whose conduct might soon by under formal scrutiny by state and specialty boards.

What this means going forward:

  1. No recommendations referencing Dr. Salar Hazany or The Scar Healing Institute of Beverly Hills (SHI) will be allowed.
  2. Anyone who suspects new shill accounts is asked to use the “Report” button rather than engaging; witch-hunting threads derail discussion and will be removed.
  3. “DM me for the name/website/price” is not allowed. All substantive information must be posted publicly so every member can benefit. If you’re tempted to send or solicit a private message for a referral, those comments will be removed and repeat offenders will be banned.
  4. Physician participation is welcome and general education is encouraged, however, funnels that steer users off-board (“message me to schedule,” “visit my site for pricing”) are not. Answer in-thread, cite published evidence, and let readers decide their next step.
  5. There are times that we receive reports of suspicious comments. When a report is made, an investigation is done and we reach out to the commentator for more details. If we determine that the account is legitimate, we ask that you remain respectful while the commentator continues to engage in the thread. Sometimes people want privacy.

We recognize that cosmetic and procedural sub-specialties are contentious by nature, and bad outcomes can occur even in the best hands. Transparency, informed consent, and honest peer-to-peer discussion are the only ways this board remains useful. Practices that deliberately erode that transparency forfeit the privilege of being mentioned here.

If you have questions about this policy, contact the mod team via ModMail.

Thank you for helping us keep this a transparent community.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Excision or subsicion and filled on these scars

Post image
Upvotes

I've had mg first round of subsicion on these childhood chickenpox scars on my forehead and they didn't make much of a difference and the deem doesn't think it will as he doesn't think its tethered. There was some release tho but didn't make any difference overall. This derm doesn't do forehead filled but I will find someone who does. My other option is a excision which Js more permanent but I'm worried. However I found a doctor who's results are more than satisfactory imo but I'm still worried as I am a Fitzpatrick 4. The derm suggested co2 laser but said I couple maybe get 60 percenf imldovement which isn't satisfactory with co2s downtime and risk of hyperpigmentation

Discussion co2 resurfacing Spoiler

Hi everyone. The skin on my face is very sun-damaged due to spending lots of time outdoors for most of my life. It is darker than the skin on my body - my body is likely a Fitzpatrick 2 and my face is a Fitzpatrick 3 possibly towards 4, I am not really sure - it has a light olive undertone but I burn easily and tan if try to do that gradually.

I also have some scarring from some bad electrolysis treatments done 10 years ago. They look like some deep wrinkles on both sides of my mouth. I am considering CO2 resurfacing (likely fully ablative). They appear similar to acne scars like some pitted small areas.

Am I a good candidate for that? Would it be advisable to only do the area around my mouth where the scars are located?

Also, can this treatment result in my facial skin reverting back to my natural pigment colour? I am mainly interested in fading my scarring but removing the sun damage would be a bonus as I look weird in dresses with my neck and arms being much lighter than my face. Thank you very much for any advice.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Update! My atrophic scar

my first post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AcneScars/s/Aabrd4AlvV

Hi everyone. I wanted to post an update about my situation.

Unfortunately, the filler I had placed in my nose wasn’t enough. It also migrated toward the sides of my nose, while the indentation itself is still there. The scar is only 47 days old, so I’m trying not to panic or rush into anything, but mentally I’m really struggling. I cry a lot and I can barely bring myself to go outside.

The area has also developed post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I’m trying to reassure myself that this is a normal part of the healing process, especially since I rarely go outside and, when I do, I always wear sunscreen.
I’ve spoken with several doctors in my country, and every single one of them has told me to wait at least another six months. I honestly don’t know how I’m supposed to be patient. There is still a very noticeable indentation. The good news is that the donut-shaped swelling around it has finally gone down, but the center is still depressed, which makes me worry that it’s becoming atrophic.

One thing I found interesting is that about 10–15 days ago, when I pressed on the area, it felt like there was only a very thin layer of tissue over it. Now it actually feels thicker, so I’m hoping that means some healing is still taking place.
In another 2–3 months, once the sun is less intense, I’m planning to find a highly experienced doctor and try fractional laser treatment. Several doctors mentioned that it’s one of the treatment options. One of them told me that if it’s going to help, I should start seeing results by the second or third session. If there’s no improvement by then, there’s probably no point in continuing, and it would make more sense to start considering surgical options instead. I think it’s worth giving the laser a chance before moving on to anything more invasive.
That’s where I am right now. I don’t really know what else to do. I guess all I can do is wait and hope that time helps.

Is there anything you would recommend for me during this process?

[Treatment] Subcision Wisconsin Subcision

Has anyone had successful subcision performed in Wisconsin? I am in talks with Robertson Cosmetics in Madison and am also potentially interested in Nu Derma in Oak Creek. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences with either of these places?

Hi Everyone, I suffered from severe acne and took accutane to make it better, but it left me with some acne scarring. I'm curious, what's the best way to go about fixing these acne scars? What treatments should I do and what actually works and will last?

Thank you so much for reading and offering advice. It means a lot to me and I really appreciate it. This is one of my biggest insecurities and it'd mean the world to me to get my acne scars treated and fixed.

Thoughts/Review is there hope?

I struggled with teenage acne and cystic adult acne. I’ve gotten multiple sessions of erbium laser, fraxel laser, and microneedling and I’ve only seen mild improvement. I’m thinking of getting subcision with sculptra for my acne scars but wasn’t sure if it will worth it. I was scared of getting it because I have a dimple and I don’t want to risk possibly getting rid of it. Any thoughts?

I’m feeling really down because of my skin; it’s really hurting my self-confidence. I also suffer from OCD. Do you think my skin is actually bad?

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Skeptical About Doing Halo Lasering

Over the course of about the last 9 months I've done 4 micro needling sessions, and while I did see good improvement my dermatologist recommended that I do Halo lasering next, but after reading through other posts and forums it looks like the majority of people have very bad experiences with it and typically regret it. I know many of these people dont wait long enough for the results to actually show as it usually gets worse before it gets better, but I wanted a second opinion on if I should have it done or not since it is quite expensive and there may be better options out there that im unaware of. I have a variety of scars but its mostly rolling scars, and maybe 2-3 ice pick scars, I also have some early signs of sun damage so if anyone has had any experiences with treatments that help with that it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Large Pores from Acne Scars — Best way to fix?

Thumbnail

These are the pores on my undereye-cheek area after 2 rounds of micro-needling done. I had some issues with texture resolved from the MN, but these large scars/pores still bother me.

Should I start using chemicals like tretinoin, niacinamide, etc. to treat them? Or would MN be the best way to continue with treatment?

TLDR: Large pores from acne scars! Best way to fix them?

[Treatment] Microneedling Post MN results

I have avoided getting any treatments for my acne scars historically as it just seems like a money pit with few success stories. Decided it wouldn't hurt to try something now that I'm older as I may benefit from a procedure to help with fine lines and what not. I had 3 MN sessions last year but didn't really notice any difference. I just tried an RF MN session just about 3 weeks ago. Am I crazy in thinking there is a very slight improvement ? Before is left and after is right.

Hi everyone,
I’d appreciate some honest advice on my acne scars. The attached photo was taken outdoors in natural light, where they seem to look the worst.

So far I’ve had:
2× RF Microneedling

I’d especially love to hear from anyone with similar scars who has had successful treatment.

I’ve had this enlarged pore/pitted scar?/hole in my cheek for a couple years now hoping it’d eventually go away 🫠 or at least shrink. Is there anything I can do about it? Is it worth going to the dermatologist for? Or am I stuck with it forever?

I have this acne scar on my chest and it looks very very bad.

Some bad acne 9 or 10 years ago had happened, big cystic infectious acne and that left a scar permanently.

Even beneath the tattoo, I have these scars. I tried to cover it by tattoo, but they are still visible.

Can anyone help me or gone through this, which treatments can help me ?
