Discussion Someone intercepted a FedEx driver and took my $2,500 ASUS laptop before it ever reached my house — they apparently had my tracking number, address, and last name

Upvotes

I ordered a new ASUS laptop for college, around $2,500. This wasn’t just some random impulse purchase either. I spent days researching which laptop to get because I needed something strong enough for college/engineering work but still portable. I finally picked the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and had been waiting for it all morning.
FedEx tracking said it was supposed to arrive between about 1:25 PM and 3:00 PM.
Then, before that delivery window even came, I checked the tracking and saw it had been marked “delivered” at 12:49 PM.

I went outside immediately and the only thing at my front door was an unrelated Amazon package under my dad’s name. It wasn’t from ASUS. It wasn’t my laptop. It was just a laptop case for something else.
At first, I thought maybe FedEx marked it delivered early by mistake. So I called FedEx and opened a case. I also called ASUS because they’re the shipper. ASUS opened a case too, but they basically told me the investigation could take up to 10 business days. That annoyed me because this is a $2,500 laptop I need for college work, not some $20 accessory.

Then the situation got weird. I called FedEx again, and the rep told me something like:
“The driver was intercepted, and the package was given to you.”
I was confused because I never intercepted any driver. I never received the laptop. Nobody in my household received it. Nobody at my house authorized anyone to take it. And the package never reached my front door.
Later, I found out the FedEx case had apparently been closed because the notes said the “customer received the package” and that someone signed using my last name.
That’s when it went from annoying to creepy.
I disputed it completely. I did not sign for anything. I did not receive anything. Nobody in my household received it. Someone apparently used my last name, and somehow FedEx treated that as valid.
Eventually the case was reopened and escalated to FedEx security. I was told it was reopened because of improper shipping/delivery procedures, since apparently handing a package to someone during transit is not normal policy.

From what I was told, there is camera/video footage connected to the incident. Apparently, a car was following or tailing the FedEx driver in my neighborhood. My neighborhood is huge, so this wasn’t even directly in front of my house. The car allegedly stopped the driver before he reached my address.
According to the notes/information I was given, the person showed the driver my tracking number, my address, and my last name.
Then the driver handed them my laptop.
So somehow this person knew enough about my shipment to stop the driver and convince him to give them a $2,500 package before it ever reached my house.
My parents ended up filing a police report. An officer came to my house, I explained everything, and the report was labeled as forgery because someone signed using my last name.

Today I spoke with FedEx security. They said their role was basically to review the footage/details and determine if there was a policy or security issue. They told me they did find an issue and said it was entirely FedEx’s fault. They said they would now communicate with ASUS to see how the internal issue gets resolved.

So now I’m waiting on ASUS and FedEx to sort it out, but I’m still mad because someone apparently walked, is FedEx/Police likely to investigate the actual person who took it, or are they mostly just going to determine fault and settle it with ASUS?

My questions:

Has anyone ever had a FedEx package intercepted before it reached your house?

How would someone even get the tracking number, address, and last name unless something was leaked or accessed somehow?

And realistically, is FedEx/security likely to investigate the actual person who took it, or are they mostly just going to determine fault and settle it with ASUS?

I’m trying to stay calm because FedEx security basically told me I’m in good hands, but this whole situation feels insane. It wasn’t delivered to the wrong porch. It sounds like someone literally intercepted the driver and got my laptop handed to them using my information.

My ROG Strix G16 (2023) just died on me. It was plugged in, connected a monitor and was browsing YouTube when I heard a sudden click or tap sound and the laptop instantly went off. I bought it in Feb 2025 and It’s been how many— 1 year and 4/5 months. I also didn’t get the extended warranty too. This is my first ever laptop and I’m clueless whether to take it to a local repair shop or a certified one (which is located in another state). Any suggestions?

Support Is this a screen issue?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has seen this before. One side of my laptop screen looks a little dimmer or kind of washed out compared to the rest. It's not super noticeable, but I can definitely see it.

Do you think this could be a screen issue, or is it something else?

Thanks!

How does this make sense? It's an OLED from ASUS. I bought it from Amazon, from 'Sold by Amazon EU S.à r.l., UK Branch', so not a dodgy reseller as far as I can tell.

Support Subject: G513QR — switching from liquid metal to regular thermal paste, good idea?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

My ASUS ROG Strix G513QR (Ryzen 7 5800H) is overheating quite a bit (93°C even at low load). It has factory liquid metal on the CPU and I'd like to replace it with regular thermal paste (MX-4) to avoid the handling risks.

Two questions:

  1. Is switching from liquid metal to MX-4 a good idea on this CPU, or will I lose too much in performance/temps?
  2. Given my symptoms (93°C at low load, fans already ramping up hard), could this be something else besides paste/dust (undervolt needing adjustment, heatsink not seated properly, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Support ASUS ROG Strix ITX (ROG FPS Card) and Cooler Master AIO Screen Not Detected / No USB Signal

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with my ITX build and could use some help or validation if anyone has faced this.

My Setup:

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix ITX (using the ROG FPS Card)
  • AIO Cooler: Cooler Master AIO with a digital screen

The Problem: The pump and its RGB lighting work fine (getting power), but the digital screen won't turn on, and the device is completely missing from MasterCTRL as well as Windows Device Manager (no USB signal detected at all).

What I've Tried:

  • Verified physical connections (tried connecting directly to the ROG FPS Card and also via the included flat bridge/splitter cable).
  • Checked BIOS settings (USB power delivery in S5 is enabled, all ports/controllers are active, no disabled USB hubs).
  • Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the MasterCTRL software / forced a clean setup.

The device never registers in Device Manager, meaning the motherboard's internal header on the FPS card isn't passing the USB data stream to the pump's display module.

Has anyone experienced this specific issue with ASUS ROG ITX boards and Cooler Master screens? Is the ROG FPS Card's internal USB line known to lack proper signal strength for certain AIOs, or is my pump's internal controller dead?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Support [Help] Secure Boot Violation persists even after clean Windows install, BIOS update, and CMOS reset

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end with this one and hoping someone here has run into the same issue.

**Setup:**

- ASUS motherboard prime B360 plus UEFI BIOS, version 2.20.1271, AMI)

- Drive: SSDPR-CX400-256-G2 (256GB), shows up fine on SATA6G_3

- Need Secure Boot enabled specifically for Riot Vanguard (Valorant anti-cheat)

**The problem:**

Every time I enable Secure Boot (Boot > Secure Boot > Enabled), I get hit with:

> "Secure Boot Violation - The system found unauthorized changes on the firmware, operating system or UEFI drivers."

If I disable Secure Boot, everything boots fine, no issues at all. But I need Secure Boot ON for Vanguard.

**What I've already tried (none of it fixed it):**

  1. Checked Boot Option Priorities - Windows Boot Manager is correctly set as first boot device

  2. Confirmed OS Type is set to "Windows UEFI mode" under Secure Boot

  3. Cleared Secure Boot Keys via Key Management

  4. Manually did "Enroll Factory Defaults" separately for PK, KEK, DB, and DBX

  5. Cleared the TPM (Trusted Computing > Pending Operation > TPM Clear)

  6. Repaired boot files with `bcdboot C:\Windows /s C:` - completed successfully

  7. **Full clean install of Windows 10** - wiped all partitions, installed fresh - problem persists even on a brand new install

  8. Updated BIOS to the latest available version

  9. Full CMOS reset by pulling the motherboard battery for ~15-20 minutes

  10. Re-checked SATA Mode Selection (AHCI) after the CMOS reset, since the drive wasn't detected properly right after (INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE) - fixed that, but Secure Boot Violation is still there

**Possibly relevant context:** Before this all started, I had used a Windows activation tool (KMS-style activator) on this machine, which I suspect may have messed with UEFI boot components/Secure Boot keys at some point. But even after a full CMOS reset (which should wipe NVRAM back to factory) AND a completely clean Windows install, the exact same violation still shows up.

At this point I'm not sure if this is something fixable on my end or if it's a firmware-level issue with the board that needs ASUS support/RMA. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any ideas what else I could try before giving up and contacting ASUS support?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Support ASUS X870E-PLUS TUF GAMING WIFI7 and Klevv memory compatibility

Hi Folks! I see the ASUS TUF x870e QVL does not include the Klevv Bolt V (KD5AGUA80-60B280I) 16GB CL28 modules, but does include the CRAS (KD5AGUA80-60B280I) 16GB CL28 modules. Will the Bolt V modules work in the TUF? The Klevv part numbers seem to be identical and the DIMMs seem to differ only by CRAS being RGB and the Bolt V having no RGB. Thank you!

Product Recommendation Which keyboard for a desktop is most similar to a predator helios neo 16?

Hi! I used to have a predator helios neo 16, but the Nvidia chip died after 2 years and I was able to get a good refund (thanks to UK consumer protection laws). I've gone for a desktop which is great, but I'm hoping I can get a good keyboard with a similar layout to that of a predator helios neo 16, so I don't have to relearn muscle memory for various games etc. I've got a £100 budget, so any recs are welcome!

Support Audio not working + missing boot?

Recently, I got an Asus Vivobook M1607GA. Last night I decided to install EndeavourOS onto it. Everything was working fine until I tried to watch a video today and realized that the sound doesn't work. After messing with that for like 3 hours (I genuinly don't know what I was doing) I decided to just go back to windows for now.

When I opened Windows, I realized that the audio wasn't working either. I updated the OS, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and it still doesn't work. The thing is, on both systems the sound was detected and it shows that everything works. There just isn't sound playing.

Then, when I tried to go back to EndeavourOS through the BIOS, the boot was just non-existant. It still appears in the partitions though, so its still stored, just unable to boot into it.

Any help is appreciated. I really want my sound back and my system back :(

Support ASUS Vivobook Go 15 OLED - ₹15k screen replacement or ₹7k external monitor?

I have an ASUS Vivobook Go 15 OLED. The laptop powers on (keyboard lights, Caps Lock, etc.), but the internal display is completely black.

I took it to a repair shop, and they said:

\- OLED screen replacement: ₹15,000

\- Display cable replacement: ₹1,300

I asked if I could skip replacing the OLED panel and just use the laptop with an external monitor over HDMI. The technician said that HDMI is currently not working because the display cable is damaged, and that I need to replace the display cable first for HDMI output to work.

This confused me because I thought the HDMI output was independent of the internal display cable.

So I have a few questions:

  1. Is it true that a damaged internal display cable can prevent HDMI output from working?

  2. Has anyone experienced this on an ASUS Vivobook or similar laptop?

  3. If replacing only the display cable restores HDMI, would you recommend buying a ₹7,000 portable monitor instead of spending ₹16,000 on an OLED screen?

  4. If you were in my position, what would you do?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who's dealt with laptop display repairs or ASUS laptops before. Thanks!

Support I need help with WiFi drivers

Anyone out there if you’re rocking the Motherboard ATX Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi SktAM5, tell how you managed to get wireless WiFi connectivity as mediatek for whatever reason windows is unable to install the driver, it says that there’s already some other driver called Realtek but the only one I downloaded for the ASUs site was the MediaTek WiFi Driver V3.5.0.1349 for Windows 11 64-bit .

If anyone has managed to get their WiFi drivers working please help me as this is my first build.

My motherboard is a Prime B840-plus wifi from asus. I think my bios version was 1403. Then i wanted to play cs2 on faceit and they Said i have ti update my bios for their anticheat to work. I updated to version 1654. Then it felt like my sound was a little bit off in my cs2 games. I thougt Maybe my headset is getting old and bought logitech gx pro2. When i have my Windows volume on 30 its like i have it on 0 i cant hear anything. I have to have it on 100 to be able to hear steps in cs cus they sound so little but the bullets from my Gun makes really fkn loud noise for some reason. I have tried uninstalling ghub, deleting and reinstall realtek audio, turned off audio enhacements in Windows, the sound quality is bad it feels like in in a bunker. Can bios update make sound this bad or is it the headset? I cant go back to old bios so in thinking of updating it again to the latest version thats 1681. Is it safe to update multiable times? It sucks cus i just bought this pc for 2,3k. Plz help Im so lost.
