• Innovative German synth-pop band Kraftwerk were formed in Germany in 1970, and released seven well-received albums during their first eleven years as a group, producing several singles that charted around the globe. But it took until 1981 for the band to have a #1 song on any chart: when the single "Computer Love" was released that year, it was paired with a re-release of the band's 1978 song "The Model" as a double-A-side in the UK, reaching the top of the British charts in February of that year. But alas, the model is now not looking so good, as the voters would like to eliminate her, that's understood...all that playing hard to get has apparently left a sour taste in people's mouths, and not even champagne can wash it away!
• Austrian musician Johann "Falco" Holzel first came to many people's attention with his song "Der Kommissar" in 1981, but despite the fact that the song would later become a big hit when re-recorded by the band After the Fire, Falco's original version never charted in the US or the UK. However, Falco would soon shoot into prominence when his novelty hit "Rock Me Amadeus", a tribute to Mozart, shot to #1 in both the US and the UK (coincidentally, two months after the film Amadeus won the Academy Award for Best Picture). The song would be parodied and lampooned on shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy, and has gone on to become one of the most famous 80's songs. But from the looks of things, this subreddit doesn't find Falco to be much of a superstar, and all the plastic money in the world won't change that - Mozart's music lives on, but it appears that Falco will not come and rock this game any longer!
