lookingfor Still looking for Lunch Ladies in Zurich

Upvotes

**Ladies' Friday Lunch Club – Zurich 🍽️ (yes, we exist now!)**

A few months ago I posted looking for women to explore Zurich's restaurant scene together — one Friday a month, good food, good company, no agenda.

The group is up and running, we've had our first lunch and August is already in the works. We just need a few more faces around the table to really get the conversation going! 🥂

All ages and backgrounds welcome. If Fridays work for you and you love a good meal, drop me a DM!

lookingfor Sketch walk in Zurich

Hi everyone,

I'm organizing a small sketch walk in Zurich.
The idea is simple: we walk through a few beautiful spots in the city, stop to do fun drawing exercises, learn some tricks and drawing techniques while we draw together and meet new people.
No drawing experience is needed at all. This is more about creativity and slowing down than making perfect art.
I'll provide paper and basic materials. Feel free to bring colors or materials you feel curious to experiment with.

It will be on Saturday 25 of July, from 10 AM to 1 PM.
After the walk, anyone who wants is welcome to join for a relaxed coffee and chat.

Everything will be in English, and absolute beginners are very welcome.
If this sounds interesting to you, join us!

6–8 people group.

More info here: https://www.meetup.com/sketch-walk-in-zurich/events/315664495/?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=share-btn_savedevents_share_modal&utm_source=link&utm_version=v2&member_id=480275961

If you have any questions do not hesitate in sending a message!
Excited to see you again, see you soon!

lookingfor Archery for kids

Hello there,

I'm wondering if there are any archery clubs for kids. My son is Startin kindergarten this year and on a trip we got him a bow. He enjoys shooting with it a lot and I'm wondering if there's something we can do to support him that's more organised than shooting a bow on a meadow.

We're located on the border of Albiesrieden and Altstetten

shitpost That's it. Not entsorging correctly again.

I just paid over CHF 22.– to get rid of a single buggy weighing maybe 4 kg. The city canceled the yearly coupons to get rid of Sperrgut, and that 22.70 is evidently the flat rate at the Looächer dump in Affoltern.

Trying to do the right thing and getting punished for it? No thanks.
In the future, if it fits into the container and doesn't have my name on it, in the container it goes.

Flaired as shitpost because this truly is utter bullshit.

lookingfor bialetti style coffee maker camping gear

I'm looking for a coffee maker/machine that works on the Bialetti principle (not a French press).
They're known under the names: MAXI life enhance Armin Coffeemaker (no longer in production)
or: Maxi Titanium Moka Coffee Pot / MyClean Coffee Maker, Titanium Moka Pot.

I already have an aluminum Bialetti. I'd like an upgrade to make it lighter so I don't have to carry a pot/pan when I go up a mountain. You can't really make fondue in the Bialetti at 3,200 meters. With the titanium, both would be possible.

If anyone has one of these lying around, I'd take it.

lookingfor Looking for German Language Exchange Opportunities in Zurich

Hoi zäme,
I’m looking for opportunities like a language exchange or Sprachcafé to practice my German. I know the Gemeindezentrum has some options, but they’re closed during the holidays. Do you know of any other places or meetups in Zurich where I can practice German?

lookingfor Creatives in Zurich?

How do people network in the year 2026? I'm a photographer looking for other photographers, hair and makeup artists, and stylists to network with or potentially collaborate with. You do not need to be a professional, I am not a professional, I am just building my photography portfolio and would like to explore concepts alongside others instead of doing hair, wardrobe, and makeup all by myself.

Nothing is paid, it's purely voluntary to benefit both of our portfolios. I'd like to think that as I gain bookings, I can reach out with paid opportunities.

My website (under construction </3) is taleataylor.com and my instagram is taleataylort, shoot me a dm if interested.

lookingfor Looking for stand up paddle buddies :) [chill]

The weather is fantastic, the lake/river is beautiful and there's no chiller way to spend a few hours than happily paddling on the water!

I am looking for people that would enjoy doing it in a small group, to share a good moment together :)

I would propose a first meeting this Sunday 26/07 (if the weather clears up), either Zürich see, Greifensee or on the Limmat!

What do you guys think? 😁

ihaveaquestion English-speaking prenatal classes in Zurich?

Hi!

My partner and I are expecting our first baby and are looking into English-speaking prenatal (antenatal) classes around Zurich.

I'd love to hear about your experiences:

  • Which class did you take?
  • Did you feel it was worth it?
  • If you took one of the shorter classes (around 3 hours), did you feel it covered enough, or did you wish you'd done a longer one?
  • If you did a full-day or weekend course, did you feel the extra time was worthwhile?
  • Any instructors or courses you'd especially recommend (or avoid)?

We're trying to decide whether a shorter introduction is enough or if it's worth investing the time and money in one of the longer courses.

Thanks so much! 😊

lookingfor Looking for a sport buddy

Hi crew

I dislike going to the gym for a multitude of reasons. So I have at home a rowing machine, kettlebells, water, tea, and coffee. Near Triemli Spital.

What i miss is a training buddy, someone to train with, because by myself, my 'innerer Schweinehund' is just too overpowering.

So what I am looking for is someone, or different people, who want to join me for my program (kettlebell-based) and help me beat that beast into submission.

Next to training, I can offer cuddles with two dogs and a reasonably well-versed conversation.

Anyone interested in joining me?

lookingfor Medical people in Zurich?

Hey! I study medicine in Italy and I’m curious about medical life in Zurich since I might want to move to Switzerland later on.

I will be in Zurich until Augustvand will come back again also🙂

Would be nice to get to know some students, residents, doctors, or anyone in the field. I’m not looking for anything formal, just people to talk to, ask random questions, and maybe grab a coffee when I’m around.

lookingfor Looking for furniture recommendations

Hi everyone!!
I’m about to move to a new apartment with my husband and I’d love some recommendations for stores in Switzerland (mostly in the German-speaking part) where I could check out some options for L-shaped or modular sofas at a good price :)

We’re usually going in circles between IKEA, Conforama, Belliani, and Xxxlutz, but maybe there are other stores we could visit or check out cool options online!!

Any recommendation is welcome, thank you

rant Zurich roads and tramways in constant repairs

Can anyone explain why in Zurich same tramway or road is being replace from zero (not even repaired) every year, sometime multiple times per year? Seriously, feels like jumping from place to place with repairs when nothing seems broken is a norm.
Is it bad planning or just a waste of public money. I know Zurich is rich, but there should be a better way to spend the money - for example making the public transport cheaper.
Anyone with knowledge of the matter would appreciate the perspective

ihaveaquestion Self service bike shops?

It looks like a lot has changed since corona but I was wondering if there are places in Zurich you can bring your bike in and do work yourself (e.g I want to just replace a pedal without buying the tools). Are there any places I can go to with my own parts or should I ask a traditional bike repair outfit instead?

I’m not an ETH alum so I can’t use their workshop.

lookingfor Looking for a space for a DIY van camper conversion in/near Zurich

Hi everyone,

I live in Zurich and am looking for a space to work on a DIY camper van conversion. I've started out doing some minor things in a public parking lot, but now that I'm diving into the drilling/sanding phase, I'm pretty sure I will run into problems with the local authorities or neighbors if I don't find a proper spot. I already have a tiny workshop where working outside of the van but need something bigger for the installation and other procedures.

Does anyone know of a casual setup, like a farmer's yard or private driveway, where I could rent a corner for the van? Alternatively, any recommendations for local hobby rooms (Hobbyraum) or workshops with high ceilings that could fit a van?

Any leads would be awesome. Thanks!

ihaveaquestion Experience with Nachmieter search - what are the rights of the current tenants?

We have presented the agency with 5 candidates who applied to take over our apartment at the same conditions, the first applicant was mid-June, then another 4 followed up with applying until around the beginning of July. We organized several viewings and put in effort to find suitable applicants to take over the lease.

All efforts to get in contact with the agency to follow-up on their decision have failed. They do not answer our e-mails/letter and we are basically clueless whether anyone was selected to take the apartment over.

Has anyone been in such a situation before and what exactly are our rights as well? I understand we are out of the contract when someone else signs, but if the agency is not moving forward with doing their checks on the candidates we found just because we have to continue paying anyways feels quite unfair. Also, in a market like Zurich taking a lot of time to even start checking the candidates means you might lose their interest. We can't keep organizing viewings as if we don't have anything else to do....

lookingfor Your favorite professors from UZH, ETH, ZHAW?

For a science event series I'm organizing, I'm looking for your favorite professors who are really passionate about their topics. I'm searching for people that have a niche research interest but can explain it really well to people who know nothing about their field of research. They should be able to put their research into a greater context and explain it in an interesting way.

Doesn't matter if astrophysics, philosophy, neurobiology, history or anything else.

We all had our favorite professors, and I want to know who yours are.

Edit: Also ZHdK and other schools in Zurich where people do research.
