Do ZJs pay Zumba extra (on top of ZIN fees) or does Zumba compensate Jammers? How does it work financially?

Music Can't find the music

So I had been listening to a small playlist of my favourite zumba songs on youtube and decided to try and find the rest of the ones i loved so i could download them and listen whenever. Only thing is the albums seem to have dropped off the face of the earth barring the wii game soundtracks and whatever dregs on spotify. Wonder what happened since cardio party, party nation etc. all had some great songs, and caipirinha was another favourite too...

ZIN Just attended pre-training orientation and I'm so disappointed

The ZES is straight up forcing participants to sign up for ZIN. During the orientation, there was a lot of focus on how it is absolutely necessary to download the app and get a membership, when the rules clearly state that participants can decide within 6 months of training whether or not they want to join ZIN.

I'm really disappointed because I have an amazing zumba instructor, who cautioned me against this false marketing and told me to do what I feel is right, and not sign up for the ZIN subscription if I don't feel ready.

Why would you WANT to make people to feel like they're part of a pyramid scheme? It's in such poor taste, almost like you're preying on poor, desperate people who want to make money through dancing.

It makes me lose respect for a dance and system that I dearly love.

Edit: Any tips for what I should do if the ZES denies me entry during the training?

ZIN All things warm up

Let’s talk about warm ups! How long is your warm up song? Do you use an original song or a fitness mix? Is your warm up the same choreography each time or does it change? And lastly, what has been your favorite warm up song so far?

ZIN “Would you rather…”

*When taking a Zumba class for the first time, would you rather dance in the front or hide in the back?
*Would you rather sweat buckets or barely sweat? so fans on or off?
*Would you rather take morning classes or evening classes and why?
*Would you rather have perfect rhythm or unlimited energy?
*Would you rather learn the various rhythms the instructor is teaching or just follow and don’t care.

Just wanted to get some feedback to get points of view from students.

Zumba App Songs/dances not on ZIN app?

I’ve been a Zumba instructor for almost a year now, I exclusively use songs from the ZIN play app. I just attended a Zumba class at a different gym, and I didn’t recognize a single song or choreography they did, none of them are on the app (I confirmed by searching for them after class). It was super fun, and the other students clearly were having a blast and were regulars who knew all the songs and dances.

Where are these songs and dances coming from? How do people get access to “Zumba” choreography that’s not from the app? Or is the answer simply that it’s not Zumba-official? But then how are they marketing it as a Zumba class….lol so many questions. Thank you!

Question Is working only with the Zumba one day formation license illegal ?

I was so tempted by the Zumba formation offer to become a licensed teacher but I saw on multiple comments on instagram that if you don’t have a diploma certificate to do collective lessons you can’t use your Zumba license. Is it true ? I’m confused because on the website it seemed that you only need their formation to get a legal license and work with it ?

Choreography Turning during cool downs

Why do so many instructors incorporate turning in their cool down songs? I'd say 3 of the 4 instructors I attend class with each week have cool downs that involve turning. Is there a reason or just a coincidence?

Question Best rope lights for studio

Our new gym that I teach Zumba has a new dance studio room that I share with the yoga teacher. We are looking for a good quality rope lights that have different colors and can connect more than one string together. She wants warm white for yoga, I’d love different colors. I looked at Amazon and was overwhelmed with all the choices! I’d love any suggestions!

Shoes and ZumbaWear How fast does Ryka restock the Devotion XT Training Sneaker?

I'm in deep pain with my current shoes I use for my Zumba classes. All of the recommendations I see online lead to the Ryka Devotion XT Training Sneaker. My size (6.5, wide) is out of stock, and I'm eager to know if anyone knows when they restock. I looked into buying another brand, but I don't feel confident. I need the option for a wide foot and a lot of recommendations considering the use of the shoe and the pain I'm currently experiencing. Any insights would be appreciated!

Question Am I the A hole?

I am new-ish to Zumba but not new to dance (danced for years and was classically trained in high school). I only mention this because I think I have decent bodily awareness and know where my body parts are in space. I have been doing a zumba class for the last few months a couple times per week at my local Y. This class is packed- like 30 people in the room and each only has a few square feet to work with. I like to get a good workout in so I dance pretty full out with large movements and such but always stay in my “spot”. Today a woman approached me at the end of the class and confronted me saying I looked like I was going to accidentally hit her friend. She said she could tell her friend was scared and cowering at times. I wondered who this friend was but didn’t ask and also wondered why they didn’t just move to a different spot. Alas, maybe I’m the asshole for dancing too full-out in a packed class. I apologized to the woman and said I’d be more cautious the next classes but it really annoyed me tbh, and I feel like dancing even more haphazardly next time.

*Update*

Thank you all for the input! I have concluded that I am not the A hole but also need to watch myself in space a bit more, stand near a wall, the back, and by people that have the same energy as me, but to generally not be discouraged by a confrontation like this.

Question What are the best YouTube channels for 30 minute workouts?

I always see YouTube videos for individual songs. However, I don't really want to search and create a playlist for each song. Are there any YouTube channels you recommend that have multiple 30 minute workout classes you can follow along to?

Question How to deal with troublemaker who does not respect nor know dance class etiquette?

Hello, the room where we have the fitness classes is very big. It can accomodate 20-30 people easily without us feeling too crowded to dance. Last week, there was a lady who arrived late (about 15-20 minutes late). Although there were only 6 students, she decided to stand very close to me (within an arm's distance) while there were lots of empty space in the room. I politely told her that it is dangerous to dance closely next to me as I often make fast and big movements which we could collide with each other and cause injuries. She said she does not mind such incident (which I do), paused for a few seconds and walked to the middle of the class.

Today, she showed up late in class again. I was at the opposite end of the room from the door. She walked through everybody across the room. Then, moved my stuff and started to dance next to me (again within arm's distance). Obviously, she was targeting me. After about 20-30 seconds, she tried to push me out of my personal space by making bigger movements and gradually moving closer and closer to me to squeeze me out of my spot. I politely said excuse me! She ignored me. I politely said excuse me again! She ignored me. Then, I told her that I came in first and she took my spot. She started to create a scene of harassment and said that I bothered her loudly. At that time, the instructor paid more attention to us, looked puzzled but continued to dance. Then, this person told me that she was going to the front desk to complain about me (a guy) bothering her. Few minutes later, she came back, packed her stuffs and left angrily.

After class, I approached the instructor. She asked what happened and I told her the story. I asked her what to do with this person if she shows up and bothers me again next week. She had no suggestion first but few seconds later, she suggested moving to another area. This person always come in late. If I move to another area in the middle of the class, I bother other students as well. Besides, why do I have accomodate her when she does not respect nor know dance class etiquette? I talked about the case with people at the front desk. They said that she was not supposed to enter the class once it had started.

What kind of people is that?

Question Walking out from the class after the warmup

For those of you who are students, what does the instructor have to do for you to walk out after warmup/ or first 2-3 songs?

I am an instructor and I have had it happened before and even though I KNOW I should not be focusing on it and focusing on all of the ones who STAY, I still cannot help but be baffled by it.

What has to be done by the instructor to make them leave after a warmup when you did not even have a chance to present your style, playlist, talent, technique?

Sometimes these very students from the beginning look at me with a side eye after just a few uttered words of the intro and from beginning I can tell from their body language that they are hating the experience.

It happened before with subbing (I can understand that one more, they are mad I am not their instructor) but also with several new students who have done zumba before (so the issue is not being intimidated by the new format).

What can be done at warm up to make person do that?? I just cannot comprehend it. I am in beat, I am experienced, I cue, I may not be everyone's cup of tea but I am decent at what I do.

I am sure people know that leaving this early is very noticeable and will be hurtful for the person who leads the class, yet many decide to do it. so I was just wondering for a glimpse of what it could be for those of you who decide for such step. Thank you for your ideas and thoughts! And please do not go after me for focusing on it. I know I shouldn't. But also, I just genuinely was hoping for the insight from people who have done it!

Question Do you or your instructor have tracks where the participants dance with each other?

Some of the instructors I go to do this. For example one have a part of a track where we stand in a line facing the next persons back and holding the hips. Another instructor have a track where we hold hands and dance.

I really appreciate this and I suppose most participants do. But I can imagine maybe it's uncomfortable for some people. IMO it makes the class more exciting.
