I am looking for the closest equivalent to Arc's workflow here.

Guys i've started using Zen browser recently and id like something that allows me to customize my start page like speed dials or tabliss but zen doesnt have an "empty new tab" or at least i couldnt find it, can anyone help me?

Will this add support directly with zen or is it just easier to implement now?

Edit: sorry for mixing the topics. what I meant to say is that since now hdr can be implemented for videos, it would be more an incentive to figure out a way for DRM content to be played on Zen. I know its been talked about forever here but just thought this news would help push that topic forward for an all in one browser

Not sure why esp for some pages has some intensive stuff, wondering if there is a way to actually force reload?

I'm using Zen Browser with several pinned tabs in the top grid (YouTube, ChatGPT, Gemini, Instagram, etc.). I noticed in the Task Manager (Shift+Esc) that all these tabs stay active in RAM all the time, taking up around 3–4 GB of memory combined.

Is there a way to force Zen / Gecko engine to unload these background pinned tabs faster when they are not in use?

Hello, I have been using Waterfox and recently learned about Zen, I wanted to try it out it since it seems to have many advantages and the things I want but I really would appreciate if there was a way to smoothly transfer all my sessions to Zen without needing to login in all of them.

I found this thread (Now closed) but after following the steps in the first comment when I opened Zen I got a pop up window telling me I needed to create a new profile because the profile is 'outdated' (check image attached)

Has anyone found a solution for this or knows of a better way to transfer your profile without having to login in everything?

In the same thread people suggest using a password manager, but doing that would require adding everything to the password manager, just to login in a different browser which beats the whole point. Also I cant even transfer my waterfox profile information the usual way because it doesnt appear in the list of browsers from which I can transfer my data...

Started with the last update (July 17th).
Was just wondering if I was the only one and should reinstall, resync etc, or if it was happening to anyone else. Happens with and without zen mods btw so, don't think that's the issue. Works fine until 11/12, but as soon as essentials are "full" 12/12, can't change their order anymore like i used to.

Ended up stumbling across this on an issue thread on Zen's github page, so hopefully this helps someone. Clearly, these windows are colored purple to telegraph to you that they're not synced to your current session. So make sure you acknowledge that before you lose tabs etc. You could easily just set it to a matching yet distinct color if this matters to you.

I'm on version 1.21.8b on MacOS 26

I have 2 spaces with 2 containers (Profiles?) assigned to them

I have configured space routing so any url with "github" will be opened in my Work space

However, if I have my Personal space open, and I click on a github link in my Slack, then it opens in my Work space, but when I hover over the tab, it shows Personal as the container (Profile)

If I had my Work space opened and I click on the link on slack, then it opens in the correct space, as well as in the correct container.

Is this a bug or have I made a configuration error in my browser settings?

There have been countless topics about this in the past. There have also been a lot of Github pull requests for this and for various reasons they all got delayed or disapproved, and here we are, 2 years later, we still don't have these keyboard shortcuts added back (they were actually present at the initial release).

On a mac, neither cmd+alt+arrows, nor ctrl+tab is useful. We need to assign them: personally I always use command + 1 for previous tab and command + 2 for next tab in all of my apps.

It's such a shame, Zen would be a perfect browser, but I just cannot switch to it without this.

Hey All! I am on 1.21.8b and using my PC + an external monitor. If i open a new window and move it to the external monitor, it always tries to mirror the tabs open on the window left in my main display (pc) and vice versa. Is this a known issue? I am on fedora 44 (KDE plasma)

I know I'm a bit of an odd ball in the way I use tabs with Youtube, I scroll through the Youtube suggestions page and click on videos with my middle mouse button to open them in new tabs. I queue up several videos this way and then work through them before closing the tab.

This hasn't been an issue until a recent update to zen. Now if I open a video into a new tab, the video wont load, and refreshing the page only breaks it worse. I have to click on something to load a different page, and then go back to the video, where it will load normally.

any ideas what could be causing this issue?

I'm on Windows 11, and up to date on Zen. I've tried it and not had the issue on Firefox.

Edit for additional clarity:

The page will load as normal, but the video will throw an error and not load. "An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: *video string*) Learn More"

I can scroll on the page, I can see most of the suggested videos, though some don't seem to load properly. I can see all the comments on the video. I guess it would be the video player isn't loading properly, or something. This happens for all links opened in the background.

Edit for update:

I found the issue, and it wasn't Zen. Apologies for any concern I may have caused. It was an adblocker that I had running. I hadn't run into a similar issue before and I forgot to check the addons.

Appearantly you can not add Separators within Folders to separate Booksmarks? I click on "Add Separator" but nothing happens. It works in the Bookmarks Toolbar.

Can someone confirm?

I want to use DuckDuckGo but since it is blocked at my school, I have to use Google there. Is there a way to set Google as the search engine in my School space and DuckDuckGo in my Home space? Currently when I change it, it affects all spaces.

I'm running into an issue with the Instapaper browser extension on Zen Browser. Every time I click the extension icon to save an article, instead of saving directly, it redirects me to Instapaper's fallback web page ("Save to Instapaper" / "Add [article] from [site] to your Instapaper account?") with a manual "Save to my Instapaper account" button.

This page itself states: "If you are using a browser extension, please check your browser's cookie settings and enable unrestricted third-party cookie access for www.instapaper.com."

Things I've already tried, with no success:

• Confirmed I'm using the actual Firefox/Zen extension (not the deprecated bookmarklet)
• Verified I'm logged into my Instapaper account, both on the site and via the extension
• Cleared all cookies for instapaper.com and re-logged in
• Set Enhanced Tracking Protection to "Custom" and changed "Cookies" handling from "Isolate cross-site cookies" to "Allow all cookies"
• Fully restarted the browser after the cookie setting change
• Removed and reinstalled the extension from scratch
• Checked extension permissions (has access to all sites)

None of this changed the behavior — I still get redirected to the fallback page every time.

For comparison: I tested the exact same extension/account on a regular Firefox install (same machine) and it works perfectly there, saving directly with no redirect. So this seems specific to something in Zen's handling of the extension or its cookie/tracking protection implementation, not my Instapaper account.

Has anyone run into this on Zen specifically, or know of a setting I'm missing? Happy to check dev console output or provide more details if useful.

how to remove transparency and get solid colors or some other type of themes ?

I use an ultrawide monitor and have 1 browser window taking up 70% of it and another using the remaining 30%, I use Brave currently which lets me have tabs on each window independent but I couldn't figure out how to do that with Zen and idk if Firefox even has that as an option, it was very clunky trying to navigate while all my tabs were open on all my windows on all my virtual desktops

I know I could make a workspace for each individual window but that just feels a bit clunky

I tried switching from Chrome to FF and it's been a failure. Too many sites won't load / load poorly, and my associated switch from Google to DDG for search is... underhwleming to say the least. I'd love to ditch the big G but I might be stuck on it. Two different workplaces use Google docs / accounts extensively, as well as Google-based email hosting.

But I read a review that Zen could outperform FF in things like google drive / docs? Not sure how this makes sense since it's FF under the hood as far as I know

I'm on a MacBookAir M1, 16 GB, and my FF issues were sites not rendering properly (vomitted out as text), Google / Facebook and similar sites just not loading or needing a few refreshes to load, and speed / performance being the same or worse than Chrome, sadly.

Is there a way to get this type of mica effect for zen browser (windows 11)? Ive tried micaforeveryone, but it doesnt become this transparent. I know acrylic exists, but id rather have it in this style. Is there a way to make the zen browser sidebar look just like the arc sidebar in the image?

whenever i try to open the new tab it instead opens up the search bar which is bit frustrating and for some reason makes me feel feel disoriented.
I'm sure some people will like it but im not one of them and i think a simple toggle to turn it off rather than going into advanced settings would be pretty nice.

I got rtx hdr and super resolution to work by changing gfx.webrender.dcomp-video-hw-overlay-win-force-enabledgfx.webrender.dcomp-video-hw-overlay-win-force-enabled to true, but no matter what i do i can't get normal HDR videos to work (as in youtube doesn't even show me the option)
What am I doing wrong?

I’m giving Zen a try and attempting to configure it as closely as possible to my Arc setup. I think I’m about 90% of the way there, but I can’t figure out how to move my bookmarks into Spaces.

In Arc, I mainly use a single Space and keep all my saved bookmarks organised in a folder structure. After importing them into Zen, they only appear under Bookmarks. I can’t find a way to drag or move them from the Bookmarks menu into the relevant folders within a Space.

I know I can open each link and then move it into a Space, but that causes me to lose the bookmark name. Many of the sites also require me to log in, so I don’t want to end up with 100+ items in my Space all showing something like "Please sign in" instead of their original names.

Is there a way to move imported bookmarks directly into Spaces while preserving their names and folder structure?
