Advice Campus Visit in August?

Looking to schedule an informational campus visit soon, hopefully in August. Will there be life on campus the week before classes (but after dorm move-in)? After, say, 8/19?

Any tips/insights would be appreciated!

Discussion Students or Customers?

for future, current and former WSU students: how would you feel if WSU administrators referred to you as customers, and encouraged WSU staff to refer to you as such and treat you as such? do you have a strong preference on the matter? i have my suspicions, but i wanted to go straight to the source to put them to the test. your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Discussion New Porchlight

Apparently Porchlight got some new owners and now when you try to order a pizza on the phone they made it so you can only talk to a "virtual assisstance" which doesnt even have the listed menu items on there website for build your own on there.

I'm encouraging people to review bomb this place in hopes after some community backlash owners will stop thinking its okay to replace service workers with inadequate bots that suck to make some extra $$$ profits and not hire real staff.

Am I the only one outraged at these types of practices?

As a freshman needing to switch to chemistry for the fall semester, I'd really like to NOT take an 8am course... before reaching out, I was curious as to what the purpose of the section is. Any ideas?

Advice Cougar Card Plus

Can anyone put their input into whether having the WSECU Cougar card is more/less useful than just having the normal Cougar card? im trying to weigh the differences between the two. If it helps at all, I already have a BECU account which may or may not change things. It's to my understanding that there's a cash back checking option? What might make one or the other more viable? any input is much appreciated, thanks :).

Discussion Could we finish any of the ongoing construction projects before starting more. Please.

It seems like they'll be out there doing roadwork in one area for a bit, then abandon it to start something new, leaving all the equipment there and the roads closed. What are we doing? Is it really that difficult to finish any one of the several construction projects scattered through town and campus?

It's especially frustrating when it comes to things like leaving apartment entrances closed and roads where people live in general. The entrance to Aspen Village has been closed for well over a month. The last time I saw or heard anyone working out there was weeks ago.

Who is organizing this construction?? What are they even doing out there??? Where IS everyone?? They've got roads torn up left and right with nothing to show for it, because they keep going out and starting new projects before finishing any of the current ones! The road from that roundabout to airport road has been closed since summer break started!! Not to mention that lift that has just been sitting outside the stadium for ages and taking up, literally, half of the road.

I can't believe we're not talking about this more? Me and my girlfriend cannot be the only ones sincerely inconvenienced by and frustrated about this. We get construction and road work every summer, but this year they seem to be especially bad about just abandoning half finished projects.

This isn't aimed at the construction workers. My frustration is directed at the city, or whoever the appropriate people to be frustrated with are. Like, we know people still live and commute around here in the summer, right??

Edit: Thanks y'all, this has been super informative as well as validating to my frustrations haha. Good news is I was down by Walmart today and it looks like they're done with that road! So there is certainly some progress being made (slow progress, but progress nonetheless)!

Advice honors college/ direct admit nursing

hello! i am currently in highschool in WA state, and i am hoping to become a nurse. on WSU’s website, it says there is the option to get directly admitted into WSU’s nursing school if you are in the honors college. i was wondering if anyone who has taken this path can help me out with any details: how hard is it to get into the honors college? are you completely ensured admittance to the nursing school if you take your prereqs and keep a good gpa? is the honors college worth it? what is the nursing program and also the honors classes like? i’m not very familiar with the concept of honors college so any and all information helps!

Advice Rule 39 Appeal?

Has anybody had success appealing rule 39 at the WSU Global Campus?
I haven’t received any emails or notifications. I only found out because I went to submit an SAP appeal form and found out I was academically dismissed. I want to appeal because I truly only missed it by .03 on my GPA my second semester, and my third semester I was moving and having issues with my car and work and it took over my life.
I emailed my advisor and set up a meeting but I don’t have the link to appeal and I don’t know if it’s worth just trying to reinstate and seeing what happens.

Edit: Just to be clear. My second semester was Fall of 2025 and I did great. My cumulative GPA was the problem because I tried going to WSU back in Fall of 2022 and failed due to becoming homeless. My Spring semester I wont lie I did bad, I took classes at a 200-300 level and didn’t get the help I should’ve. Thats on me. But I do deserve college, I want to graduate, because a mistake 4 years ago doesn’t define me, and a mistake from last spring taught me my limits.

Student Life Chinook Housing

Hey. I've been trying to find other people to move into the Chinook apartments on the Pullman campus. I haven't had any luck with finding anyone on the StarRez thingy. I was wondering if anyone has already made a group and was looking for another person?

I'd prefer either the 3 or 4 bedroom one, don't really mind if it's furnished or not. Although I have no idea what kind of spaces are still available for Chinook. please help

Edit: I just need to find one more person. Last I checked, there were still some 3 bed furnished Chinook units. I can't really post anywhere else besides here. Please message me if you're interested.

Advice How active/online are professors over the summer?

On June 30th, I emailed 2 professors I had classes with last semester seeking letters of recommendation, because I’m planning on applying to law school in the fall and trying to get my application ready as soon as possible. It’s been 9 days now with no sign of a response. I understand the holiday weekend may have delayed things a bit, but I assumed even professors without a summer course would open their email every few days at least for work/research purposes. Should I continue to be patient and maybe follow up next week? Or should I expect to not hear back until next month as the semester begins? I was hoping to catch them at a free time so they didn’t feel pressured with deadlines and classes starting but now I’m unsure.

Advice Biking on Stadium

Trying to map my route to school & take a few practice rides!

I have to cross over Main to get onto Stadium all the way up just short of Grimes, and I’m wondering if the preference is for bikers to ride on the road or on the sidewalk?

I’m coming from a place where bikes on the sidewalk is illegal, but I don’t think I saw a bike lane on the North side of Stadium.

Thanks in advance!
