Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday

Happy Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday!

Wednesdays are for discussions by seasoned witches, to seasoned witches.

If you have a more "advanced" topic you'd like to discuss, today is a great day for it!

Some weeks, there may be a Seasoned Cauldron Discussion prompt to get things going. You're free to respond to the prompt or to comment with your own topic.

Please note that we aren't going to define or regulate what or who is or isn't "seasoned" or "advanced." As a suggestion though, foundational concepts like energetic hygiene, spiritual cleansing and protection, divination, and history would not be topics for discussion.

Also note: posts tagged with the Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday flair are primarily for seasoned witches to discuss things with one another, rather than a place for newer witches to ask things of seasoned witches.

Thank you and blessed be!

I have a few witch friends, and I have Fallout friends (fans of the hit videogame series)

When i do my money bowl, I ALWAYS put bottle caps in there, as it is currency in that game series.

I guess just a reminder wealth means many different things to each witch.

Any other Fallout fan witches in here??

Seeking Help or Advice It only makes sense when I smoke weed. How do I bring that clarity and hope back with me when I’m not high?

Hi! Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to ask!

I’m pretty new to my craft. Still very much in the ‘collecting books and gathering knowledge’ phase of my journey, it’s been about a year of this. I’ve done a couple spells here and there but I don’t consider myself to be practicing.

My conundrum (or erroneous belief?) is that I can’t be messing with my brain chemistry the way I do, and also achieve the mental clarity I need to step into my becoming. Yet at the same time everything falls into place and becomes clear when I do. I get so excited, I get all these ideas, I don’t question any of it, it feels so correct. I feel like I’m on the right path, and I’m close to something so real.

I’m so addicted to the *feeling* that it’ll all work out and it all makes sense and something amazing is on the horizon.

But then I wake up, read my journal, look at the things I saved on my phone and none of it seems as revelatory, it’s cute and poetic and just a fantasy of what could be. And the vigour and momentum I feel just goes away as my brain regains its chemical balance.

Does anyone know the feeling? Does anyone have any insight? Is this the cannabis induced psychosis that I’ve heard about? lol

Thank you for taking the time ❤️

Seeking Help or Advice Regarding respecting deities

Upvotes

Hello all! I am starting my journey of practicing witchcraft with deities and need some help. Mami Wata has been calling to me recently and I want to start a shrine for her. I have looked around some popular shopping websites and its hard to find specific things pertaining to her. I have the money to spend on her and I want to buy thi gs for specific her. I have found that she is similar to another deity who is more widely known. Would it be disrespectful to buy some things that i want for Mami Wata's shri e that are technically made with a different deity in mind? I just want to make sure I am properly respecting her as she is very important to me and who I am becoming. Also I do live in the US so it is hard for me to travel to Africa to go and get more authentic items but I can try to find more places so any recommendations on shops would help me wonderfully!!!

Edit- I got a crazy head pain after posting this so I do believe she is best to be worshiped without said items but I am keeping this post up for any advice you all have!

Energy Request Energy request for grief

Hey all,

Without going into too much detail, my father contacted me Monday to tell me he is terminally ill. He hasn't spoken to me in 9 years, we don't have a good relationship and my grief is bringing up a lot of things I thought I healed already. I didn't think the news would bother me that much, but it's affecting me a lot.

This is on top of losing five relatives, a coworker, and a family cat in 2022-2024. I'm still grieving those losses already.

I'm planning to do my own working for my situation but I would appreciate your good energy, your prayers, anything helps.

Thank you 🙏

Sharing: Tips and Advice Did I write this spell right?

I wrote this myself and I am a new witch and I am unsure if I did it right.

By fire by light, by smoke, by flame
This space is protected and I am the same.

By water by sea, by rain, by storm, this space is cleansed so intentions can form

By earth, by dirt, by soil, by ground, this space is sacred and power is found.

By air, by breeze, by breath, by wind, this space is steady as the power I send.

Seeking Help or Advice Had an unshakeable vision of yellow eyes while trying to fall asleep

Hello everyone.

Last night I had the hardest time trying to fall asleep as I was laying in bed trying to sleep I kept seeing yellow eyes with black pupils in my mind. (Not like when you rub your eyes) I just keep getting thoughts about them and it wasn’t necessarily accompanied by a negative feeling aside from freaking me out lol I just couldn’t stop thinking about them.

I just tried searching everywhere and couldn’t find anything except Christian stuff about demons (🙄)

Anyone have any similar experiences or ideas what this could be?

Thank you!

Topic | Prompt Spell for other people

I wanted to know if anyone has done spells for other people without them knowing, but in a loving way. So like if your friend went through a breakup so you did a spell to help with self confidence or if your partner has been struggling with money so you did a money spell for them, but never telling them you did it. I wanted to know if that’s like morally okay/ how it worked out for yall?

Seeking Help or Advice What are your thoughts on this?

Upvotes

I come from a pagan family. My grandmother has been giving me the evil eye my entire life with the intention of putting bad luck/energy towards me and cursing me. She does this at any slight “inconvenience” I cause her or when she doesn’t approve of my choices. She’s been doing to me since before I can even remember and she has explicitly told me exactly what her intentions are when she does it. I’m wondering how I can protect myself from her bad intentions and how to cleanse myself from the bad things she has already put towards me. I will appreciate any help/advice.

Seeking Help or Advice Do I always need a protection spell after tapping back into witchcraft?

Upvotes

Sometimes I will go a while before doing a spell. I'll do tarot or chant something on the usual, meditate but as for an actual spell, I don't always have the time to do one regarding any candle or jar work. Sometimes this will take a couple weeks or longer but I still keep the faith. Once I plan on doing a proper spell, should I always redo a protection or can I go without it?

I never do any baneful magic but I know it's still better to be safe than sorry. It's just I cannot be bothered to have to keep redoing these protection spells.

And I'm not talking about fully never doing them again, as I understand even the smaller things I do on the daily can count as magic that would require protection, but I'm wondering if I can go longer without needing to redo it.

Seeking Help or Advice why do you work with lady persephone?

hello everyone! for those who work with/ honour lady persephone, may i kindly ask for the reasons as to why you do so please? what are the symbolisms that she has to you? :0 why did you feel called to her?

i ask this because i currently am bonded to (these are the words id use, anyway) another chthonic deity and, yet recently, received a reading that says that lady persephone feels called to me to aid me in my journey too. after the reading, i realised that i do feel rather drawn towards chthonic things, 'darker' things (but not like demonology, etc.) and so, that aspect makes sense to me (that i would work with another chthonic deity; being), but i'm not sure if i should at the moment. and so i wanted to read the meanings others have for; with her to parse whether i should/ feel connected enough to work with her as well, or if im just overreaching currently in my own journey.

many thanks, everyone! have a great day ahead! :)

Seeking Help or Advice Black Salt for the First Time

Hello everyone. I'm about to make my very first black salt, and I have a few questions!

First of all, I found a super easy recipe here: https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/13b7bx5/how_to_make_black_salt/

Secondly, I've been reading through relevant posts and comments, and it seems that everyone has their own way of making it.

My question is, can black salt be "all purpose" or does it have to be created for a specific use (for instance, "black salt for protection", "black salt for binding", etc.)?

I also saw some people following the moon cycle while making it, others not, others using different ingredients... What would be the most standard approach? Is this recipe a good base?

Thank you in advance!

Seeking Help or Advice How do I reconnect with my spiritual side after feeling emotionally disconnected?

Lately life has felt really heavy, and I realized I've become disconnected from the part of myself that used to make me feel grounded.

I used to pray, journal, spend quiet time with myself, and just feel connected to the universe. Those little rituals made me feel peaceful and like I had faith in something bigger than myself.

Now I barely do any of it. It's not that I've stopped believing—I just feel emotionally numb and distant. Every day has been about getting through things, and somewhere along the way I lost that connection.

For anyone who's gone through something similar, how did you reconnect? Did you ease back into it with small rituals, or did something specific help you feel spiritually "home" again?

Seeking Help or Advice How do you reconnect with a deity after unintentionally neglecting your practice?

I’ve been wanting to ask this for a while because it’s been weighing on me. I’ve worked with Tyche for some time now, but over the past several months I’ve realized I’ve completely fallen out of my practice. Life got busy, other priorities took over, and before I knew it I had stopped making offerings, stopped doing rituals, and honestly stopped taking the time to express gratitude the way I used to. It wasn’t a conscious choice to walk away, I just slowly drifted.

Lately I’ve been feeling pulled to reconnect, but I’m not really sure what the right way to approach it is. Part of me feels like I should apologize, while another part of me wonders if that’s just me projecting human emotions onto a deity.

For those of you who practice deity work, have you ever gone through something similar? If so, how did you reconnect? Did you simply pick your practice back up, did you make a formal offering or apology, or was there another approach that felt right?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who works with Tyche, but I’m interested in hearing experiences from people who work with any deity. I’m not looking for people to tell me everything is fine just to make me feel better. I genuinely want to understand how others navigate this and what has worked for them.
Thanks in advance. I appreciate any insight you’re willing to share.

Sharing: Experience Labradorite unlocking witchy wisdom?

Hi everyone ♥️

I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with specific stones?

I’ve been a witch since little, collecting unique stones and being drawn to esoteric items for as long as I good remember.

I do occasional protection spells, clear energy, read tarot but nothing drastic. I have love, a career I love, pets I love and I’m honestly pretty happy.

Something I never do without is my moldavite, I wear them daily and feel off without them, I specifically love my moldavite pendant which I always feel keeps me extra safe and in the right place at the right time.

I woke up one day and became obsessed with needing labradorite jewellery which I found odd because they situated around the perimeters of my house with my Rosemary and lavender plants for protection against negativity. nonetheless I bought it and paired it with my Moldavite pendant.

After four or five days of wearing it, I became kind of spell-aggressive. I had no need for more money but felt compelled to cast a spell to do so- and did. The next week I got an email saying that I’m due for an increase and a higher position (a position that I absolutely loved and wanted to do for years)

The next day I woke up with an urgent need to cast a protection ward over my name and did so.

Now I’m struggling to focus because I’m filled with a need to keep any third party interest out of my relationship- something I’ve never worried about or even thought about- but I’m doing so.

I also have jars that I’ve made in my free time with assistance of a deity I work with.

What is with labradorite? Before I used to have to go and buy things from an esoteric store and put a lot of thought and research into my craft before doing it. Now I do it with absolute ease using what I find in my house and quite confidently too. Normally I wish to neutralise negativity or deflect it. Now I’m hellbent on returning it to the sender three fold.

Can anyone relate or have experienced similar?

Sharing: Tips and Advice New Glamour Witches! Your Vanity is an Altar

For anyone starting off with glamour magick or spells, remember that your vanity is a place of ritual. A great way to begin ritualising your process of makeup, skincare and hair care is to start viewing your vanity as an altar.

I don’t have an altar, I just have quite a large vanity.

Ways to transform your vanity:
-draw sigils on or above your mirror, I draw Venus symbol, my Venus sign, and custom glamour sigils
-keep signifier cards on or below your mirror, I always keep the queen of cups and the empress card stuck to ky actual mirror, because the energy of those cards is what I’m trying to embody (also keeping the empress on your mirror is a cute little devotional act for Aphrodite)
-decorate your vanity with perfumes, jewellery boxes, makeup, crystals, candles
-journal at your vanity
-mirror-gaze at your vanity
-weekly clean and cleanse your vanity area every Friday (Venus day)

This makes the process of sitting at your vanity more magical and motivating. I wake up every morning and I’m reminded of my magick when I look in the mirror.

I put my offerings for Aphrodite on the side of my vanity by my jewellery, but I also keep offerings for her placed throughout. I do oil pastel drawings and paintings of seashells and liquor for my deities, and I hang those above my vanity so it’s surrounded by art and offerings.

Seeking Help or Advice I bought a house! What is your "must have" for your home?

I bought a house and will be moving in the next several weeks.

I admit I'm a bit out of touch with my inner witch, but I'd really like to make an effort to add some witchy elements to my home.

For example: The broom above the door, selenite or black tourmaline on the door frames, etc.

What do you do to kind of protect your home? How do you decorate with intention? What little subtle items serve a big purpose in your home?

Sharing: Experience Tourmaline cracked in window… this happen to anyone else

Hello! Tell me if something similar has happened to anyone.

I made some wards recently and one of them was a return to sender ward sending back all negative energy sent our way. Things have calmed down in my house since. The mirror side facing out the window and the other side I put selenite and black tourmaline.

I was looking at it recently, the tourmaline had developed two cracks going perpendicular to the striations in the tourmaline. These weren’t there when I put them up there.

Has this happened to anyone?

Seeking Help or Advice Anxiety/Doubt affecting spell effectiveness

Hello there everyone! I’m still new to witchcraft but I’ve already done a few spells and I feel that my anxiety (and consequently my doubts) have been having a negative impact on my spells. For example, I did a road opener spell about 4-5 weeks ago, and I remember doing it and thinking “what if this doesn’t work… oh well, I’ll still try it, it could also act as a placebo.” I also grew up in a Catholic household so I’m not sure if my religious background may also be affecting the effectiveness of my spells and such.

I journal, I (try to) do shadow work, and I’m in therapy so I’m (in the process of) taking care of myself.

For those who may have struggled or have been in similar boats, is there any advice you have on how I can silence those doubts? Again, working with my therapist on this because this is affecting me in other areas of my life. (Also thinking about doing a confidence spell on myself or something along those lines).

Thank you in advance, appreciate y’all :)

Seeking Help or Advice Question regarding Ancestral work/ ancestral veneration: How do you know if your ancestors are communicating with you?

I have decided to take a new path in my practice and focus more on ancestral work, and ancestral veneration in line with Italian folk magic as I'm of Italian descent.

Now all of this leads me to this question that I have: How do you know if your ancestors are contacting you? I don't really yet understand how this works. This is also something I struggled with when working with deities. Another thing to note is that I do have AUDHD which is why I am struggling to understand this concept, I do have difficulties with consolidating new ideas and information which is why this has been leaving me feeling stumped.

So far I've set up an altar and it has their pictures with flowers, seashells and other trinkets that they owned or would have loved. I also offer them fresh flowers, drink and food. I struggle with remembering prayers so I usually just give them a blessing and say thank you to them. I never really understood how it works or how you know when they have communicated with you, and what they have said.

Another thing to keep in mind is I am still new to Italian folk magic so there are quite a few things I've not yet began in my practice. If anyone could fill me in on how it happens etc. I would greatly appreciate it.

Seeking Help or Advice Question: Using video game characters as a representation of an SP

In some video games, especially games with a large cast of playable characters, (Hero Shooters, MOBAs, Fighting Games, etc) there is the concept of a Main. A Main is a character that a player chooses to regularly or sometime exclusively play as, above all other characters. Some players may put thousands of hours playing their Main.

So say a specific person is someone who regularly plays a game, and they have a Main that they have put hundreds of hours playing, can an image or figure of that character be used as a stand in for that person in spellwork or on an altar?

(example, someone who's a Mercy Main in Overwatch, being represented by a figure, toy, or picture of Mercy)
