The Portland Winterhawks have acquired the WHL playing rights to 2007-born forward Mason West (Selected in the 1st Round of the 2025 Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks), in exchange for a 2028 First-Round Pick (Cond.), and a 2030 Seventh-Round Pick. West will be in his 19-year old season this fall. A 6'6" 218 pound Forward, West scored 10 goals and had 15 assists in 38 games played for the Fargo Force of the USHL last season. While he hasn't been officially signed, one would assume that a trade for a player of this caliber's rights at the cost of a first round pick, would mean the team feels good about getting him to sign on. I can't find any information on what the condition on the First Round pick is, but it's possible that the condition is if he does sign.
