It does look like a Hurst automatic gear shifter assembly, but two things are against that: 1. it ought to have finger grooves to be a Hurst 2. Who would put a sticker advertising that you drive an automatic? 😄

Yes, it's an 'automatic', but it's actually made for wringing performance out of transmission w/o a manual clutch. This were ALL the rage back in the 1970's when racing between local yahoos in souped-up, heavy-ass, sedans (Think 1976 Chevy Nova) took place from a dead stop to a 1/4 mile. There was a whole nation-wide community with muscle cars meant to be as fast as possible along a very short roadway.
