So at the end of season 1 he sends Logan off to essentially starve and die until park security finds him likely dehydrated and very unwell. It makes him look unstable et cetera great fine but he is alive we see him wasted later in season 2. Even if William convinces daddy Delos that he has real grit and he is the brains that can run the business that doesn't last long. Logan gets some fluids and recovers from his time lost in the park he immediately says hey dad hey sister you can't trust this guy he kidnapped me and dragged me for weeks through the park naked!!! He's insane you can't ever trust someone like that. Perhaps just allowing himself to be captured and humiliated like that was enough to make his father think he's a weak fool.

Still Logan wasn't a junkie in the park. He was fine drinking and normal carrying on. He became a junkie after losing the company the money and his dignity. That drives him to drug himself because he is so depressed that everything he felt entitled to and was born to was stolen from him by an outsider from his family. Had he never taken William to the park to try to befriend him make him part of his family; William would just be a number cruncher employee in the upper pack of the firm but not the head head of the business and family.

Thus the truth of William's depravity would be a well known thing. Way beyond your basics of the tales that people have told and his wife daughter vaguely know of. They would know absolutely exactly what he did to Logan. I for one would never be able to marry someone or do anything hanging out around an individual that did something like that to someone in my family.

Thoughts on this?

Obviously Logan and William would've seen each other at functions and such I'm sure that helped contribute to Logan's drug abuse. Still if I were Logan I would be telling EVERYONEEEE what he did. When I passed out drinking playing the game war in the park he abducted me. He tied me up and made me walk hundreds of miles potentially while he was on horse. He made me get naked and abused me etc. That is INSANE.

Also where the f was park security? I know this is 35 years in the past but they are very advanced. They should be monitoring everything about the guests at all times. As such they would know when a guest has slaughtered an entire army of hosts and need to clean them up reset them etc. They would know that one VIP has captured and abducted another VIP. No way they would see William as above Logan. No way they would allow it to keep going on. Unless his dad was right there and somehow okayed it we can safely assume that security would've seen and come to stop it. Maybe William literally took them out of the park so deep that they couldn't be easily found in those days. Just seems pretty odd. I know if my family owned the park or a good stake in it and a guest I brought one of my employees did that I would expect the park people to come rescue me lol like wtf.

Anyway just a thought let me know how you feel about this? Is it a mystery constructed that doesn't need to make perfect sense or is there something I'm missing?

I enjoy the occasional parallels between the Nolan brothers' different works. Bernard in WestWorld, dealing with memory loss on the beach in Season 2, an architect of the mind with an unreliable narrative.

Grieving for a lost family and coping with alternative timeline speeds... how can he be sure of what he knows? Him and Dom Cobb would have a lot to talk about!

I recently watched the complete series, and one of the things that I started to notice was that my investment in the story declined as the story progressed. This could be due to a number of things, but the thing that I kept saying to myself during the later seasons was “Why should I care when this probably isn’t real?”

I was fully invested for the first half of S1. I had just seen the 1973 movie and was disappointed with how little it explored the concept of robots who look and act like humans, so I was very excited that the show really seemed invested in digging into the implications of a world like that. Then we learn that Bernard is a host! Brilliant. Amazing. Shocking twist. A host in the real world who thinks he’s a human, and the show does a great job of exploring the consequences of that revelation.

And then we get more revelations through the second half of S1 and S2: William is the Man in Black, Dolores is Wyatt, there are host copies of real people, and when a scene takes place in the show is no indication of when it takes place in the narrative. In addition to being twists, these are also lessons, and what they taught me is that I cannot trust the evidence of my eyes in trying to understand the story. Paying attention is no longer sufficient to understand what is going on. I thought that I understood the world of the show and how it worked, but every new twist reveals that I don’t, and the less I felt like I understood the world, the less I was able to invest in it.

And this is borne out in S3&4. Every time something dramatic happens, I wonder “is this real?” I see two characters talking in a scene and I can’t even be sure that they are who they look like. I see Maeve in a dangerous situation, and the show wants me to be concerned for her, but I know that she can get out of it with her hacking powers. I see a flashback and I’m immediately skeptical that it’s accurate to what really happened. I see someone die and think “so that was a host or this is a simulation or a false memory or something”. It’s anything but something that I should be invested in. Reality is fragile. There are only so many times that a show can pull the rug out from under me before I start to wonder what its motives are. Do you want to tell me a story or do you want to trick me? Because you’ve tricked me so many times now that I don’t really trust you to tell me a story. I’ll just pay vague attention until the last two episodes of the season when you tell me what really happened in the first six.

The change in tone with S3 kinda turned me off and it feels like a slog to get through it. Is it worth it to keep going, will it pay off like the first couple seasons with all the cool twists?

Watching Westworld over again rn w my roomie!! We are MASSIVE fans of this show and I’m so excited to rewatch this with a more adult lens. Hey guys! I still want to do this with anyone who is interested. Life has been hectic lately and I wasn’t able to watch this episode (or any TV for that matter) last week. So, I decided that we’d just use this week for episode 2. I’m 100% going to watch it today and take my notes lol Will report back when I do.

The Peripheral may not have returned for a second season, but as a single-season television experience, it remains one of the most intelligent and emotionally grounded sci‑fi shows of recent years. Instead of chasing spectacle, it uses futuristic technology to explore very human questions about work, identity, fate, and the cost of progress. In many ways, its cancellation highlights how risky ambitious, slow-burn storytelling is in today’s streaming market, but the series itself stands as a powerful example of what science fiction can achieve when it focuses on people first.

As someone who loves stories that make you think deeply about what it means to be alive, Westworld hit me hard. From the very first season, I was hooked—the stunning visuals, the haunting music, the way it asked big questions about consciousness, suffering, and freedom. Watching Dolores wake up, Maeve fight for her daughter, and Bernard search for his truth felt personal. It wasn’t just entertainment; it felt like a mirror held up to humanity itself. I genuinely cared about these characters, human and host alike.

Even as the show grew more complex, I admired its courage. It never played it safe. That’s why it hurts that we never got the fifth and final season Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy had planned. The story feels unfinished, like a beautiful song cut off mid-note.

To Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and the entire team: thank you for creating something so special that it still stays with me. I’m a fan who truly hopes you’ll find a way to finish this journey. Whether it’s Season 5, a movie, or another format,please give this masterpiece the ending it deserves. The hosts woke up. We’re still waiting for the final chapter.

When I watched s1 I watched it without subs so the first time I didnt realize when they revealed man in black is william, I wish I had subs ffs. I live outside of US so I dont watch the show on HBO.
