I literally TRIED to give it a chance and forced myself to keep reading, but omg… this has to be the worst “OP MC” trope story I’ve read yet. The art is really good, but the story is so ass.

Recommendations Haven't been reading webtoons for more than a year. Which current ones are worth reading?

Self explanatory. Due to lack of time and me engaging with other interests I ended up following less webtoons, but I want to get back into reading. What do you recommend?

I read pretty much all genres and don't mind how many chapters it has, the artstyle, the country of origin, even nsfw ones are okay. If it's something that will keep me hooked, I'm in.

For reference, some of my favorites are Spirit Fingers, Like Mother Like Daughter (pic), I Love Yoo, Moonstruck and Roots Of The Heart. I enjoy stories with good characters and good character development, drama, lots of drama, especially if messy, interesting relationships, either romantic or friendships, found family, and grey morality. Sometimes something simple and wholesome while still well written is perfect too.

Feel free to recommend me anything. I'm looking more for ongoing ones, but if you think I'll enjoy something that's already finished, please recommend me too. Any platform goes, and self promo too. Thank you in advance!

Ignore it and Somyung will chase u with a chair

Question Webtoons like Romance 101 with lots of character development?

Hi! I read romance 101 like an year ago and left webtoon for quite awhile but I want to get back into it!

Ive been trying to find similar webtoons which explores friendship dynamics instead of just focusing on the love story

I tried no office romance which is by the same author in collaboration with another author i think? But it just didn't hit the same because it's very romance focused imo. I want to try some but dk which ones to try so here I am asking for your suggestions!

I have caught up till the recent chapter and hear me out. If there will be a romance (or at least a sub-plot) in this, it would work. I cannot describe it but it would hands down be phenomenal.

>!I smell heavy toxicity incoming between the class president guy and the protagonist!< Author please go for it, you hv my full support.

Discussion Using 3D in webcomics?

I'm interested in writing webcomics but I don't have the art chops to do it myself so I would be hiring an artist. I had an idea for an alien species in my story that sounds like a huge pain to actually draw from multiple angles. I thought maybe it would be better to have them make models, paint them, and then just move them around and put them in the scene. But looking into things people seem to have some negative thoughts about this method. So a few questions:

  • Would this method actually make things easier on my artist?
  • What are peoples thoughts on 3D art in webcomics?
  • Are the tips to avoid getting scammed by AI users any different for 3D art than 2D art?

Also just for frame of reference, the idea I had was for them to have iridescent, colorful, glittery skin.

Help Find Title/Source Finding a webtoon!

Upvotes

Hey Guys! First time posting here! I need help finding a webtoon that I used to read back in high school so about 4-5 years ago. I can’t remember who it’s by, but the webtoon main character was a girl named Mei, this is also a romance webtoon, but Mei is an artist/author I believe, and she accidentally brings her work to life, bring in main lead number 2 Raiden, and her childhood crush male lead 1, Elias, ends up coming back from overseas!!

Anyways! I hope that’s enough detail but if anyone needs more, I’ll respond as soon as I can!
Please help me find this webtoon!!😭

Help Find Title/Source I'm trying to find this Webtoon I used to love. It's a young girl who washed up on a shore(?) and has two knights with her (both women I think), I know one had hair that looked like a rose.

In the universe, everyone has a power (or maybe multiple). I think the one with rose hair had enchanted fists. Not sure about her other knight.

But by the time I stopped reading (which must've been a long time ago) there was a whole suspense thing about this one villain(?) whose power had to do with raising the dead, so he always travelled with a coffin chained to his back.

Question Naver website sign up.

Hi! This is probably a bit off topic, but I don't know where else to ask. 😅 Has anyone here created a NAVER account to read Webtoons? I want to sign up, but I'm not Korean and I don't live in Korea. During registration, they require a phone number to send a verification code. The problem is that, due to my country's policy, I'm unable to receive verification codes sent from overseas. So now I'm stuck. Is there any way I can contact NAVER by email or talk with their agent (I mean real person not AI)? None of the options in the Help Center seem to address my issue.

Recommendations Stories where the protagonist restarts their life?

I just finished Brush up Life and became obsessed with the concept of restarting your life from a baby/young child with all your memories intact and taking different paths. So I'd like a story where the protagonist is actively trying to do things differently from their old life.

No isekai or fantasy setting please. I want something grounded.

Bonus points if they DON'T pursue or show interest in people much younger than them. Like in Mom, I'm Sorry where the mom just sees everyone her son's age as babies.

Howdy! I thought I'd share something a little weird -- drawing comics in Adobe Animate! I've been using Animate for a very long time and it has been my go-to tool for animation, comics, concept design and storyboards. Right now I'm finishing the 56th episode of my new webcomic FLUNG which will be hitting Webtoons on August 26th!

Question Hi I'm new to this Subreddit and interested in getting the Webtoon app. Is it worth it?

I heard that one of my favourite Canvas creators made a Webtoon Original version of their Canvas Webtoon but I can't read it on the website so I thought if I should get the app. But first I need to make sure if it is worth it.

I know Webtoon is known for very bad (and problematic) works but there is a few diamonds in the rough. Please tell me what I should do?

Advice/Critique/Help Would you read a webtoon about a king and queen who regress, but want oposite things to the life they had before???

Hey everyone! I have a fantasy romance story concept and I want to know if this dynamic would work as a webtoon. Let me lay it out.

The Setup:

A prince and a noblewoman marry in a political alliance. As part of the ceremony, they exchange an amulet that both the king and queen hold during their rule.

The prince becomes king and spends his time loving and revering the queen. But the queen spends most of her time ignoring or mistreating him, because the marriage was one of political alliance and she had to lose the love of her life to marry him.

Later, a coup happens. The king spent too much time thinking about his queen, so he didn't see the cracks in his rule.

They flee and go live in a secluded place. In this secluded place, their dynamic stays the same. The queen now has an extra resentment toward the king because she believes the coup happened because of him. The king is holding on to the only thing he has left after losing everything he worked for his entire life.

One day, they are found and killed by assassins sent to track the previous king and queen. The amulet they both held glows from their dead bodies.

The Dreamscape:

Each of them goes to a separate dreamscape, where the amulet talks to them separately and asks:

"What was your biggest regret?"

The King states:
"Making the queen my wife and consequently neglecting my kingdom, as I made her resent me during our entire marriage for I took her from the love of her life. I realized way too late that the love that she could harbor could never be towards me, and putting her in such a position for so many years has made her hate me. If I get the chance, I want to make sure that she lives a happy life, even if she must live away from me, and dedicate the rest of my life to making sure I run a perfect kingdom."

The Queen states:
"Treating the king as I did. I spent most of my life dreaming of marrying another, the same one that was taken from me because of a marriage that was planned eons before our birth and that was outside of the control of each of us. Yet despite the arrangement, he spent his entire rule making me his first priority, even to the detriment of his rule. Even when everything was lost, he believed it was okay because he had me by his side. I want to repay him and become a good wife to the man that gave everything to me even as everything fell apart."

The Regression:

They finally get an opportunity to turn back in time to before the coup or anything else happens. They meet each other in what each of them believes to be a pivotal moment in their story, one that they remember very well, too well:

The King's Coronation.

They both look into each other's eyes in shock, but they make completely different decisions from that moment onwards.

The New Dynamic:

The King becomes suspicious. He sees every single person that comes across him as a potential orchestrator for the coup. And as he sees the queen's behavior having changed severely, he believes even she could have been part of the coup, as well as the reason why they were assassinated later.

The Queen becomes surprised and suspicious as well. She sees the king look at her with dead eyes and do every possible measure to distance himself from her, giving her leeway, freedoms, independence, and responsibilities that intentionally push them further and further away from each other. She starts suspecting that he could have been regressed too, as the amulets are identical to one another. But the reveal of such magic within their amulets could make it coveted by the same people that organized the coup.

The Irony:

So you have a story of:

  • A king who is resentful of the queen and the way that he was treated in his past life. He wants to distance himself as much as possible from her, as he believes that the love he held for her meant nothing and that the best he can possibly do is let her go and allow her to be happy, far away from him.
  • A queen who mistreated probably the only person who truly loved her over the years and stuck by her till death did them part. She is trying to finally love that person and treat them correctly after years of mistreatment and abuse from her part. But she sees that same person treat them marginally differently to how they did in their past life.

Why I think it could work as a webtoon:

  • Regression trope with a twist: both go back, but they don't know the other did too.
  • Dramatic irony: the readers know both sides, but the characters don't.
  • Two opposing arcs happening simultaneously (him pulling away, her reaching out).
  • High emotional stakes with political tension in the background (the coup is still coming).
  • Visual potential: the coronation flashback, the amulet glowing, dead-eyed stares vs. desperate longing.

My questions for you:

  1. Would you read this? Why or why not?
  2. How long would you want the "they don't know the other regressed" tension to last before the reveal?
  3. What art style would suit this best? Darker and moody, or brighter with sharp emotional contrast?
  4. Any tropes you'd want to see avoided?

Thanks for reading! Let me know your honest thoughts.
