A short video that covers optional rule #4 for horses in Gunslinger, an out-of-print game published by Avalon Hill. The video shows how horses operate in Gunslinger, so you can use them in various showdowns in the rulebook or when creating your own encounters.

The Struggle for the Watchtower

Hi you all,
I got some serious critics about using AI artwork regarding my post of yesterday 'The Struggle for the Watchtower'.
The irony of it is that the large illustration on page 1 was indeed an AI-enhanced version of a drawing I created myself (I am a comic book author); I thought - wrongly, as it turns out - it better captured the atmosphere of a wargame, whereas my original drawing perhaps looked too much like a comic.
So here is the reworked 1st page featuring my original artwork.

Hi, I've written a set of rules for a fast-paced skirmish game set in the early dark ages. See added pics of the pages and be my guest to comment / share your thoughts.
Also, I added some pics of my minis.

Type of play

What type of play are you looking in a wargame? What it counts? Balance or story? PvE, PvP, odd number of players?

VALOR Engine — VASSAL-Adjudicated Legality Of Rules. A tool to play your VASSAL games with imposed rules

https://master.vassal-test.pages.dev

- A tool I built to play VASSAL modules with enforced rules (movement, combat, etc) that allows for AI opponents
- 5 games encoded, full rules enforced with a basic AI opponent if you want
- BYOM - bring your own vassal module (to comply with copyrights) - free to get
- Full AI trained LLM generals can hook up once I enable that function in the next release. It will work like PBEM with one player being your favorite LLM

Question finding animated battle maps

Good afternoon brothers and sisters!! Since im not 100% on the rules regarding the nature of this question and i did look, in order to be rules safe im granting permission to DM me directly with answers if you have them instead of posting links to potential competator pages and sites here.

I know its a long shot but im wondeting if anyone knows where i can find animated battle maps geared specifically towards 40k and wargaming i can project to my table, i found a number for fantasy rpg games, but none that fit 40k/sci fi, if you know of any places or channels id love the check em out, thank you all in advance, if i still broke rules, i appologize it was not my intention too.

Battle of ???, Society of Ancients, Battle Day in the North Run Through

For more pictures and my usual attractively styled waffle, please go to my Just Add Water blog here:

https://justaddwater-bedford.blogspot.com/2026/07/battle-of-society-of-ancients-battle.html

This weeks game was right up my street and had me quite excited as we were to play a Late Medieval game. If any of you remember my La Journee blog you will know of my love of all things Late Medieval. Sadly/stupidly I closed the blog a number of years back...... well, you live and you learn.....

Jim was kind enough to bring in the bulk of his Late Medieval collection as we were planning on playing a run through of  a battle that we have planned to replay later in the year for the Society of Ancients, Battle Day in the North. After a wee bit of shuffling and sorting of troops we managed to get the units sorted into something more akin to what they might look like on the day.

I would like to ask anyone who's on the know not to mention which battle it is that we have here.

Lotus Guard

Post image

The Lotus Guard is an elite brotherhood formed from members of the lesser nobility who lack the means to maintain a dragonbane mount. Bound by oath, they renounce former allegiances and dedicate their lives entirely to the protection of the sacred Lotus plantations. These tightly knit warrior orders patrol the peaks relentlessly and escort the precious plant across the world, ensuring its safety against all threats.

What do you consider to be "modern" era in terms of game subjects?

I saw a discussion where people were chastising a game with the word "modern" in the title because it didn't include current day stuff like drones.

It got me thinking that I consider "modern" to be anything after 2001.
Some say it is anything from WW2 onward, others say anything from Napoleonic times.
What do you consider to be "modern" era in terms of wargame subjects?
(not in terms of literature or general history)
