EDIT: Happy to announce that theh VR Exercise Tracker now supports Apple Watch and HealthKit!
Hey, everyone, I wanted to introduce something that the team has been working on at the VR Health Institute for a little while. Several of our team members regularly work out in VR (primary use of VR for some of us, actually), and have been using off-the-shelf exercise trackers to for workout tracking and calorie estimates. The problem is that heart rate based trackers struggle to be accurate for an exercise that is new, that uses movements and muscles that haven't been studied in the lab. So we made our own, including calorie predictions for every game rated by the VR Health Institute using research-grade metabolic testing equipment in San Francisco State University's Kinesiology labs over the last two years.

This is an early beta build, possibly even alpha, but it's enough to use and tell us what you like, hate, or want to see more of. We at the Institute strongly believe that these sorts of scientifically backed tools (which already exist for traditional exercises) are part of what is needed to legitimize VR as a tool for saving lives, and increasing quality of life.
Like traditional fitness trackers, you'll want to have a bluetooth heart rate monitor to accurately calculate calorie cost, though you can still use it to find new games based on your body metrics. We've found that non-heart rate based calorie estimates so far on the market are broadly inaccurate.

As I got a lot of great feedback on Running Scared last week I thought I'd share this early preview from Gotcha VR as he explains the game in depth and also his thoughts on it. I am listening to feedback and I am already taking note and action on his and other peoples feedback.
Love to hear thoughts from more people.
BTW - It works on Quest 2 as well!

Spent the last several days testing FitXR's latest update before writing this for UploadVR. Here's my hands-on look at Journey, Profile Levels, Oceana, the updated sound design, and more.
What do you play for those leg gains? The only proper leg workouts I've found so far are FitXR's lower body HIIT sessions, and I'd love to hear your suggestions.
The other games I'm playing for some lower body activity are Pistol Whip (with vengeance), PowerBeatsVR and Blaston, but each of them lacks in intensity/consistency/lower body targeting compared to FitXR HIIT sessions.

I can’t get the file browser to open in game. I’ve enabled permissions. Disabled and reenabled them. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Please help.

Earlier this year on the 14th of March I shared an app that I was working on called Boxing Drills VR (Meta store page).
At the time the app was fun but very bare bones and experimental and not very serious. However the feedback I received early on was really positive and motivating, so I kept pushing forward, and Boxing Drills VR is now getting to the point where it's about to leave early access.
These last few months I've worked closely with users on bug fixes, performance improvements, new drills and updates across the whole app, and now I think we have something I'm very happy to share.
A few changes and additions since that post in March (these are a few that I cherry-picked, there's so much more):
There's also up to 75 drills now across combos, defense, footwork and equipment.
It has a 30 minute free trial, and the guide shows all the features if you want a look before trying it.
Hope this can help y'all sweat more and if you have any questions please let me know!

Very soon I will be releasing a fun and very physical game called Running Scared. It’s a VR twist on mobile runner games like Temple Run except you have to physically run, duck, dodge and stretch for coins whilst escaping and shooting at monsters. It great fun and can be setup like a very energetic Beat Saber game to an intense workout like Pistol Whips’ brawler mode or Thrill of the Fight. There’s a mode called Scared Fitness that lets you combine leg squats with arm pumping which makes things very challenging!
I am also adding in support for heart rate monitors like the Polar 10 in future updates which is something not many games do, these allow accurate calorie counts and health stats

It's probably different when you're younger, but I'm missing out on playtime because I'm constantly recovering from my intense sessions. I'm hardly playing casual games anymore.
When I just got my VR treadmill, my Skyrim VR playtime was effectively cut in half (since I was now suddenly dealing with the physical exhaustion) if not worse.
And that was before I started really going all out in my games. Now I sometimes need a few days after to recover, in which I hardly play at all.
Anyone else has the same feeling?
I have got a pico 4 ultra and foot trackers. The pico 4 has all color passthrough sensors that make the real world and game characters seem really seamless.
Playing with pass through is so so much better than VR mode. You lose the environmental scenery but what it makes up for in realism is very worth it. The ability to ACTUALLY slip punches and manage distance with your opponent instead of using a joystick to do it makes me always want to keep playing.
Best part: since I've been playing in MR mode I haven't smashed a toe or accidentally punched anyone even once!
Honorable mentions:
Crazy kung fu-blander, but a better workout.
Wing Chun: Better workout, can't get past the first boss.

So I love Les Mills VR, it's my favorite one but I wanna be able to listen to my own music or YouTube. Is there any way to remove the music (not only the voices) from the game. Or a similar game that allows turning the volume down while listening to other apps in the background?

Hey Reddit, I'm one of the devs at Reality Runner! We're passionate about getting exercise while we play games, and we were unhappy with the existing VR treadmill solutions; too expensive and too clunky. We spent the past 18 months building a low-cost conversion kit to turn any manual treadmill into a VR Treadmill. It works with almost every game in SteamVR, and you can track your fitness sessions including speed, distance traveled, and calories burned, right in the app. We just posted a new demo video and we'd love for you to check it out!
You can find our website at realityrunner.com, or join our Discord at https://discord.gg/8KvxKDPHBB. I'm happy to answer any questions below!

SwingFit is more than just FunFitLand’s take on a flow workout. I spent some time with the preview and spoke with the team about what went into building it.
If you haven’t tried it yet, the free public preview is open through the end of June.
