I just posted my visa application. I have to say I found this to be the most cumbersome and unclear visa process yet(and very arcaic imo). The website I found disorganised and there were different sources stating different requirements (a link to a pdf and just a web page)
Embassy staff on the phone said I should have it in 6 weeks and that after 10 days I could have my passport back, just add photocopies.
What have your experience been with the lead times?
Did they request any clarification on documents? (as appose to just outright rejecting applications?)
I’m heading abroad soon and need to apply for a visa but I’m honestly not 100% confident that I’ll get approved (my situation is a bit complicated, so there’s a chance it could go either way). I still want to go ahead and try, but I’d feel better having some kind of safety net in place in case things don’t work out, since I’m not completely sure I’ll meet all the requirements
I’ve been thinking about using a service like ivisa instead of doing everything myself just so I don’t mess anything up. While looking into it I noticed they have that denial protection option. From what I understand, it’s meant to give your money back if your application gets rejected, which sounds useful in theory, but I can’t really tell if it’s something people actually benefit from or just an extra add-on.

But the business is registered on my father's name. I can arrange for salary slips and NOC from my father. Long layover in Istanbul. I want to clear immigration, leave the airport, stay overnight at a hotel (already booked), and return for my flight.
I'll apply for the Turkey e-Visa (regular electronic visa from evisa.gov.tr, printed on plain paper—not a consular sticker visa).
Supporting document is a valid multiple-entry US B1 visa, but it's brand new. Never used, no US entry stamp, no CBP admission yet.
What's confusing me
The e-Visa FAQ says:
Previously used or unused single-entry visas are accepted as long as their validity date covers your entry date to TürkiyeI can't tell whether this means:
only unused single-entry visas are accepted, or
used or unused visas are accepted, and they're just mentioning the single-entry case. A valid multiple-entry US visa should qualify too.
The Turkish MFA/Embassy pages simply say a valid US/UK/Schengen/Ireland visa or residence permit is enough, without saying it must have been used. But I've seen posts claiming the supporting visa needs to be stamped/previously used, so I'm looking for real experiences rather than interpretations.

Did anyone have problems at Indian check-in with Turkish Airlines because they had a one-way outbound and a separate return ticket?

Hello people. I have a weak passport with some international history. I have a previous UK student visa from my masters and another current UK student visa for my PhD. Between these two I held a D visa for temporary work in Austria, followed by a settlement permit researcher in Austria valid for 2 years.
As a young academic now in the UK, I want to keep travelling to Austria for the conferences held by my former employer institution and also elsewhere in Europe for academic events. Now to my question:
Based on my Austrian visa and resident permit history, do I have a shot at a longer Schengen visa when I apply from the UK? Should I be bold and ask for 1 or 2 years? Or is that aiming too high and likely to look sus/be rejected.

My question is: What is the last day I’m legally allowed to stay in Japan?
Should my return flight depart Japan on: 26 Nov 2026, or 27 Nov 2026?
I’ve seen people say the day you land is counted as Day 0, while others say it’s Day 1. I even emailed the Japanese Embassy in India but haven’t received a response yet.

I'm applying for Thai tourist evisa outside my home country. I got requested to submit boarding pass and PDF with all pages of my passport. This took me hours to produce, downsize and compile in order to keep it with their 1 file max 3mb limit.
I hit submit on Saturday or Sunday, it said submitted but status didn't change. I was confused and clicked submit 1-2 times more to make sure. All on Sunday then left it alone.
We're now 3 working days later and status still says documents requested. Nothing on my email about new requirements. My documents are correctly displayed on the site when I login but status is stuck at documents requested.
Should I hit submit again? Or will that put me at the back of the line? My flight is less then a week away.

I’m an Indian student who has been accepted into the BSc Genetics programme at University College Cork (UCC) for September 2026.
I submitted my Irish student visa application on 30 June and it is currently under processing. For my visa application, I provided financial documents including my sponsor’s bank statements and proof of funds showing that sufficient money was available to cover my studies.
The issue is that UCC has now informed me that they cannot extend the deadline for payment of my remaining (50%) tuition fees. However, my counsellor is strongly advising me not to move or use any of the funds that were shown in the visa application until a visa decision is made. According to them, doing so could negatively affect my visa application.
I’m confused because the funds were shown to demonstrate that I could pay my tuition and living expenses, and the money would now be used for exactly that purpose—paying my university fees.

I am going to apply for a UK tourist visa from Nigeria to write the IMAT exam to study medicine in Italy. I have pre-enrolled at my intended university as well. The itinerary of my trip is simple: travel to London. I will be staying with my aunt, who is a British citizen and lives in London, for maybe a week and a half, so that removes accommodation costs, and my parents will be sponsoring my flight ticket and any other costs; there really isn't any other thing tbh.
The only qualm in my application is that the IMAT registration has not opened yet, and it usually maybe late august of closer to the exam date which is on sept 30 but i need to apply for the visa beforehand due to processing times, do you think my application will be strong enough with just a pre enrollment summary(this indicates my application to study in italy and take the exam to get admission for medicine), the italian goverments decree of when the exam is and the fact they haven't started registration and its usually closer to the exam date which doesn't give time for visa processing, correspondence with my school that indicates the registration of the exam is handled when the government says so which nobody knows at this time, i think if my case is stated well in my cover letter it should be enough but what do you think
Hi, I applied for a Swiss tourist visa through a third party who handled the documents.
My visa was refused, and I received a letter saying Switzerland is considering an entry ban and SIS alert because they believe a false document was submitted. I didn’t know there was any issue.

I have an Indian passport, and a Canadian PR, and I am traveling in Africa for almost two months starting mid Sept (visiting 10 countries). I have all my flights and hotels booked, and after 3 tries, I am giving up on South Africa and pivoting to Rwanda. I have traveled to 30+ countries and I have had to apply for many visas and SA experience was one of the more frustrating ones.
Every single time, the reasoning provided was around bank statements. The first time, I shared my US bank account statements (Wealthfront), and they complained that it wasn't verified. The second time, it was a stamped 3 month consolidated statement from my Canadian bank (TD). They got back with, "During the processing of your application it was discovered that you submitted an invalid Bank statement and you therefore do not qualify for a visitors Visa in terms of Section 11 of the Immigration Act.". The third time, I printed the official month-by-month statements, and got them stamped by the bank and independently notarized. I got the same copy-pasted response as the second attempt.
My passport expires in May 2027 so I can't apply for the eTA which has an arbitrary 19 month passport validity requirement. It's been frustrating but moving on! Just wanted to share this as a caveat -- unless you can get the eTA, the visa process can't quite be trusted. All this because I can't make them believe I have $1k saved to sustain myself for a week. It'll be quite the weird con to pay for a dozen flights, and then what, run away to SA? Sigh!

One thing I can't understandagent about consultants/agents
My friend applied for an Uzbekistan business visa himself. He filled the application, gathered all the required documents, and we went to the embassy in Islamabad. They refused to accept his application because he was a non-filer and didn't have a tax return.
Then a travel agent charged him PKR 30,000, submitted the same application without a tax return, and the visa was issued the next day.
How can the embassy reject us for missing a tax return but accept the same application through an agent?
My PD is Dec/2012 and Pakistan is currently on the 75-country ban. I see that the F4 category is moving fast now the past couple of months on the visa bulletin. My question is if the visas go un-used and spilled over to the employment based, doesn’t it make it even slower, “negating” the visas bulletin movement? Will there be an even more longer wait time since they have to give visas to people who are waiting because of the ban before me. If anyone can give me information it’ll be appreciated.
