Hi everyone,
I’m the creator of vfmania and a web developer based in Seoul, South Korea.
I’ve been a passionate fan of Virtua Fighter for a long time. However, as some of you might know, the local VF scene here in Korea has become quite small lately. As a player, I’ve often felt a bit isolated and really missed the vibrant community energy we used to have.
I spent my time building vfmania.com to bridge this gap and connect with all of you.
What makes vfmania special?
I am a solo developer, so your feedback and even a simple "hello" mean the world to me. Please check out the site and let’s talk VF!
Check it out here:https://vfmania.com
I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on the following:
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to build this community!
02/24 - You can now display your VF rank next to your name! Just head over to your Profile page to set it up. Also, I added some special animations for players who are Level 21 or higher. Let me know what you think!

Hello everyone, I recently uploaded my new video where I go over my process for learning different matchups in the game. My first video I made I focused on the fundamentals and core gameplay. This one focuses on the continous process of learning and knowledge gathering. Enjoy!

I'm a beginner to VF5 and have about 60 hours in the game. The game is fun, but there is one thing I dislike about evades. The problem is that if you evade your opponent when they're performing a multi-hit move (I think it's called a string), the camera will auto-correct so that later hits in the string will hit you even if you successfully evaded the first, second, etc. moves. (Please correct me if I'm wrong in my understanding of evades.)
I find this problematic because it penalizes you for making a good read. I feel the camera should NOT auto-correct and let the attacker's moves continue in the same plane so that the evader can counterhit the attacker with a high-damage move as a reward for making the right read. It would allow for a better risk-reward ratio for evades, in my opinion.

I just got this recently but I have played a few but playing this feels weird to me in some way. I don't hate the game, it looks really cool and I think the characters look unique. I'm more used to Tekken with a bit of Dead or Alive (but I don't play that anymore).
A friend told me to get this and I remember seeing Akira (I thought he was a Ryu Rip-Off guy, please don't hate me) from a sonic racing game but that's only it. I did play with the ninja guy since I thought it was cool but what are your recommendations on how to adjust or start learning?
Thank you for hearing me out!
TL;DR - Just got the game, feel lost, need suggestions.

I want to be prepared for Crossroads, so I bought 5 to learn and while the tutorial was good, and guides by YT was also equally good, the matchmaking for rank is so skewed against new players because there's not much of a player base. If theres anyone who's good who can help me that would be super appreaciated!

Wanted to discuss some things recently in the world of VF/SEGA. The producer for VF Crossroads Yamada-san shared with the community that the series will be getting its first Korean fighter in Crossraods and also showed a portion of their concept art. Saying that she (the korean fighter) will be bringing something new to the series. Also discussed the CEO of nvidia making a visit to tokyo meeting with SEGA in gratitude of them saving Nvidia back in the 90s and us getting a brief new look at stella in game. Not much BUT its something lol

Even better comparison with most of the animations from trailer, including Pai's, Wolf's and Cielo's moveset.

VFCR has rekindled my desire to dig into the development and promotion of previous Virtua Fighter titles again. A good while back, I had the opportunity to talk to Daichi Katagiri, who's been involved with VF basically since the beginning. Looking over our conversation again, one exchange stood out to me:
Along similar lines, which character do you feel has changed the most over time?
Well, all the characters changed pretty significantly from the first to the second game in terms of looks…
I mean more in terms of their fighting style.
Oh! Definitely Sarah, then. She used to be all about knees and elbows, a very simple style. From 4 on, however, she’s like a completely different character. She has a much bigger variety of attacks.
Which made me look again at what we've seen of Stella. Notably, we haven't seen anything of the flamingo stance, which became a huge part of Sarah's kit in VF4 onwards. With what looks like a TKD character being added, I have to wonder if Stella's still going to have the flamingo stuff, or if that's all going to our other new combatant. Perhaps Stella's being taken back to Sarah's roots, so to speak.
And then we've got the Bakunawa Killer, who definitely has some of Lau's skills, and potentially some of Lei's as well. Cielo's got ground takedowns, seen as a Vanessa specialty, and Blaze players have mentioned that they think Wolf has a couple of his skills. Hence why I think the movesets of returning characters (or their functions) are likely to see some changes.
VF is no stranger to dramatically revising movesets--both Katagiri's comment above and the experience of Vanessa players from VF4 vanilla onwards reflects that. So a major moveset change/skill redistribution doesn't preclude any of these characters from making appearances in VFCR.
Of course, I'm just wildly speculating, and I fully expect at least some of my assumptions to be proven incorrect, lol. But what do you all think?

As I'm getting more and more engrossed into the series and community, I realized theres been so many different versions for VF5 and then theres VF4 and so on. But I wanted to know what do folks look at as THE VIRTUA FIGHTER game/games? Since im coming from an SNK background, KOF 98, 02um, & 13 are games in the KOF series that many folks hold in high regard for one reason or another.

Was I dreaming or Sega removed the feature?

As an adult, I have little time to play game. I dont have time to training mode so I go straight to rank match. Bullied by level 27 shun di isnt fun. Neither is hearing "Mada mada gen eki ja wai" with his annoying voice.
Any good tips for Aoi user like me? Some of my tactics are
Using 3P to counter hit, then 3P+G
Using 4P+K+G to get to opponent side, PK -> Throw. Sometimes it connect
Try to get advantage with plus on block move like 6K+G on wakeup or back P+K PPP. (is it me or Aoi have very little plus on block move)
And before someone want to add me as friend to train together, thank you but I rather not.

I was lucky to have come across this extremely accurate portrayal/depictions of some of the main faces of the Virtua Fighter cast... and I was extremely surprised on how much research FightersDen actually put in here! He even added in Dural where most tend to ignore her unfortunately (even doe to me she is the most iconic Final Boss)
Hope you enjoy! And I appreciate him doing this, as it pays real homage to the past Legends like Bruce Lee of course, and current living legends like Angela Mao-Ying: The Kung-Fu Queen, and the Shaolin Monk inspiration: Gordan Liu. All three of these actors specifically really put Martial Arts/Kung-Fu on the Map heavy. And I am quite sure SEGA, AM2, and RGG Studios researched these character's lore very in-depth as well.

I hear mixed opinions about the series and I’m a fan of the anime, I just want to know what everyone thinks of it and do they like it compared to the games or find certain aspects they like

Hey guys, I tried Shun Di but that infinite move, stances and drinks maybe too much for a newbie to start with.
What's your opinion? Should I stick with it or these a character that would give me a easier time ?
