Gary Peters get into heated argument to Pete Hegseth over Iran war funding: "You sir, are the failure, not the men and women who are on that front line. You don't have a strategy. You don't have a long-term plan to actually win this war. Win the war. It's not a question of money, it's leadership."

mans' right, hegseth is by all metrics a failure.

A joke, if you will.

u/riedmae 1h ago

A putz dipshit fuckface , if you will

u/Sunset_Bleach 1h ago

That is the technical term, yes.

u/The_Metal_Pigeon 59m ago

Hey that's what I call him! Except I say a jerkstore dipshit fuckface! Small distinction but variety is wonderful 😊

u/quitaskingforaname 9m ago

I am with an independent news organization, could you elaborate, and tell us how you really feel, it seems like you are holding back something?

u/riedmae 5m ago

Can I get a name?

u/Iwasoncelikeyou 1h ago

Pete Kegsbreath is a posterchild for failing forward.

u/TreesForTheForest 1h ago

Failing upward, if you will

u/Bagnorf 1h ago

I dunno, I've never seen a drunk tumble up a flight of stairs.

u/LAX2PDX2LAX 52m ago

Please don’t besmirch the Secretary of War-Crimes

u/unknownmichael 31m ago

Secretary of War-Crimes

I'm stealing this...

u/Cerokun 1h ago

I disagree.

Jokes are funny.

u/Wompatuckrule 43m ago

I'm going to have to call you out because he is clearly successful according to the criteria upon which he was chosen.

Slavishly loyal to Trump and looks good on tv.

u/Argylus 18m ago

The only point I'll argue with you is that he doesn't look good on tv. He always looks confused. Does the stern face undoubtedly learned from his years in the service.

/s

I think he thinks he looks like the Rock, one eyebrow raised.

u/Wompatuckrule 15m ago

Taste is subjective, but Trump thinks he's hot. That's all that matters.

u/crecentfresh 25m ago

But he was a host of a show how could this be

u/jarodcain 41m ago

This is what happens when you fire all the competent people that know logistics in our military in favor of sycophants.

u/Ok_Equipment_5895 1h ago

Then Hegseth tried to blame Democrats for not giving the military enough money.

u/fergehtabodit 1h ago

We could give you a bazillion trillion dollars and you would still fuck it up Pete...because you suck at your job and it is that simple.

u/JebryathHS 45m ago

They're already outspending Iran by a huge margin, so whining about the budget is not really projecting the image of a competent leader struggling with a lack of support so much as an idiot promoted well above his competence struggling to justify his own failures.

u/Ok_Equipment_5895 48m ago

If it wasn’t for your TDS you would have known that a “four weeks or less, special operation (totally not a war)” would cost a bazillion trillion. Paying any less would be un-American commie Dumocrat! s/

u/BlueRaider731 24m ago

It’s not a war. It’s a holy war. And if these morons knew their history, they’d know they picked a fight with a people that would rather die than yield to the infidels.

This is the equivalent of assassinating a pope and then being surprised when the Catholics wouldn’t simply go along with it.

And these MAGA morons are threatening to blow up more bridges… wtf is that going to do?

u/Khaldara 1h ago

Which is hilarious since our “defense” spending is equivalent to a nation unto itself and has been for ages

u/n0xx_is_irish 43m ago

US military budget is triple Iran’s GDP 🤷‍♂️

u/battleofmtbubble 30m ago

This is the same damn playbook as Iraq and Afghanistan. No more money for an already huge budget and it means you “hate the troops”. That money is going to Lockheed Martin - not the troops.

u/allanon1105 25m ago

Which is hilarious because the DOD budget has increased every year

u/pasher5620 16m ago

*Looks over at the absurdly bloated US military budget that dwarfs literally all other militaries on the planet* yeah sure, maybe more money will fix the problem.

u/Killerbudds 13m ago

Remember when they cried about the spending on drone strikes instead of boots on the ground

u/NoMoPolenta 1h ago

I bet Hagseth at least appreciates Peters' testosterone levels for confronting him

u/This_was_hard_to_do 1h ago

More likely he’s threatened by Peters’ higher testosterone levels. The secretary seems like a very insecure person

u/HugsForUpvotes 54m ago edited 23m ago

I bet he does not. I think he is completely unaware of how his temperament would make him feel badly. He thinks he's tough and can dish it and take it as it comes. He can't take it though. He gets visibly angry and out of emotional control. He's a Newsmax Host who only agreed to stop being an active alcoholic on the condition he leads the strongest military in the history of the known universe. He was set up to fail because he's less qualified than me, and I know I am not qualified. I know I'm not even qualified to know who is most qualified. I do know I'd try my best to hand the reigns over to my best hope, and I can assure you all, it would not be Pete Hegseth. I actually feel badly for him because that's an absurd stress to put on men much stronger and self aware than him. I mostly feel bad for our military who are literally being maimed and killed because the US didn't send anti drone netting to bases. It's a tragic shit show.

I'm a rare Democrat that actually fully supports regime change if it was possible. I think the US is somewhat responsible for their current government so if their mismanagement makes them weak, we should help the people form a not authoritarian non-theocracy government of their choosing. I had so little hope though because this is a tactics game and we predictable threatened death to death cult fanatics to try and force them to surrender. The IRGC wants to die by missile. They know it only strengthens the IRGC and they believe it will provide them bonus points in heaven. Hegseth and Trump only have one strategy and it's the wrong one here. The regime is more entrenched than ever. Hitting a little girl's school on day one was a masterclass in losing public support before you even had a chance to get it.

u/deathbytruck 21m ago

Somewhat responsible?!?!?!?

The current hardline government in Iran is wholly the result of the US fucking around.

Gee maybe overthrowing a democratic government and installing and propping up murderous dictator could have adverse consequences. There is a reason the Irani's took over the USA embassy.

u/HugsForUpvotes 12m ago
  1. Yes, somewhat responsible. Even if they hated the US and Shah, no one made them pick this Theocracy. The murderous dictator you mention (~3200 killed from 1925-1979) was as bad as you say. The secret police killed and tortured over 2500 people on the two years before the revolution. In 1988, the IRGC executed that many in a single summer. The numbers are so wildly disproportionate.

  2. England was the mastermind of the plan. Why do we take all foreign responsibility?

  3. Most of the responsibility for their government falls on the government themselves. I blame Russia for helping Trump get elected. I blame voters for him more. I blame him the most. This isn't hard to understand.

u/alohamistrhand 44m ago

They should test every member congress. Let’s get juiced bro. /s

u/pontiacfirebird92 1h ago

All Fox News viewers and right-wing media enjoyers will see is Hegseth saying that not giving him a mountain of money is the greatest threat America faces today. They won't ever hear anything else.

u/srector1224 52m ago

Doesn't matter. Keep saying it over and over and over. Beat them over the heads with it. Failures in War. Failures in making things more affordable. Failures, over and over

u/P2029 7m ago

MAGA has turned these proceedings into a sound-bite generating machine. They have alayws served this function in some respects, but there was always an understanding that these hearings are supposed to provide transparency and accountability to the public. Through dishonesty and a complete lack of moral character, MAGA has dispensed with the true purpose of these processes and replaced it with a propaganda machine.

u/sabometrics 1h ago

He's more of a failure because there is a war in the first place tbh.

u/thedeanorama 58m ago

The Secretary of War will live up to his title. The writing was on the wall that wars were going to be a mandate of the current administration as soon as the renaming took place.

u/HappyHarryHardOn 1h ago

And what’s his expertise in war management ? He played Risk a couple of times in HS ?

u/HereForTheComments57 55m ago

Yeah im not really liking them saying to "win the war". That just means more bloodshed. The dems just need to let them keep faltering, while not supporting what they are doing.

u/Derebeare 1h ago

Absolute insanity that drunk pete had the balls to go up there and say that every american family needs to give 5,000 to his war.

u/Shaneypants 1h ago

War fighters

Hegseth sounds like a chatbot trained on Call of Duty single-player campaign dialogue

u/sto_brohammed 48m ago

He was a Major when he was forced out of the military and he sounds like every single dickhead Major in the Army who wants to get promoted, literally unable to speak without using dogshit corporate-style military buzzwords.

u/DMala 13m ago

“War fighter” That one grates more than most stupid buzzwords. What’s wrong with “soldier”? It’s only been in use for centuries.

u/TediousNut 1m ago

Yeah I think it's fucking stupid too but Soldier really only applies to the army (eg sailor, airman, marine). Service member is the title branches use uniformly, but that is not cool enough for the department of war.

u/KathyJaneway 1h ago

There's a reason he's nicknamed Big Gary. Cause he's not messing around.

u/DiverseVoltron 1h ago

Oh does this traitor actually think the troops are into this? They fucking hate him. If the military thought there would be no consequences for them, they'd be revolting completely.

u/braigha 1h ago

Remember he was picked by the orange bone spur evader.

u/UnicornTwinkle 1h ago

$1T in funding and the most powerful military in the world yet no end to the war in sight can only be a problem of leadership. There is nothing to argue over.

u/wardledo 1h ago

If you can’t do it with the best and largest funded military then the problem is you.

u/The_Goondocks 57m ago

Incompetence at every level of this administration

u/Cinnamon__Sasquatch 1h ago

'win the war' isn't the position that people should be taking.

u/MovingInStereoscope 1h ago

It should be "If we are at war, then why hasn't Congress held an official vote"

u/scarbutt11 1h ago

Because the wars get ended on Fridays and then a new one starts Monday

u/thisonehereone 46m ago

Hey, that's how my wars go to!

u/ineyeseekay 49m ago

He's saying win the war with what you got, that's the implication. I do not think for a second this senator endorses or approves of the war, but now we're stuck in it, so win the damn thing if you have a strategy, which Hegseth doesn't.  At least not a sober, competent, and achievable long term strategy to resolution. That's the whole point... Hegseth could have 20 trillion, it's not the money that is limiting the effort, which at the end of the day, this senator is not going to approve increasing the budget to that point.

The senator is doing his service busting up Hegseth's moronic stance, and his specific word choices in a moment of passion and frustration at the display of idiocy in front of him being used against him by your comment, vs the evil motherfucker sitting at the table, is crazy.

u/Cinnamon__Sasquatch 6m ago

There is no winning this. We fucked it, tremendously. And yes, "we" includes all Americans, not just Trump and MAGA. We all do and will bear the responsibility and consequences for this war.

Iran was always pretty confident they had the ability to shut down Hormuz but they had never done it because of they had done so during 'peacetime', it would have been rightfully perceived as an act meant to destabilize the global economy and massive destabilization which would have galvanized a united force of Western nations to break their hold.

Trump assassinating the Ayatollah was about the worst choice any military strategist could have made if one was hoping to overthrow a theocracy.

The war needs to end. There is no winning condition for the US. Iran wins. And liberals who continue to act like America can't lose a war are part of the problem just as much as Trump/MAGA are.

u/AlericandAmadeus 1h ago

Dude….cmon.

You seriously think him yelling at Hegseth and shaming the Secretary of Defense for the ineptitude of his “leadership”, mocking him at the lack of any clear victory in a war no one wanted in the first place, is somehow a resounding endorsement of the Iran War?

If so, I have a bridge to sell you.

u/Cinnamon__Sasquatch 1h ago edited 59m ago

Yes. Democrats saying 'your strategy is failing and you need to correct it to win the war' isn't a condemnation of the war itself.

There is no 'winning' a war that was illegally started and had no basis for being started. This is a war where America has to take the loss and reflect on what led up to this failure being enacted.

Liberals who have wanted this war for decades, and say, this could have gone better with a different strategy are not anti war.

u/AlericandAmadeus 1h ago edited 59m ago

Lol. So about that bridge, you interested?

Edit: nice stealth edit btw. Your original comment was just “yes”

u/Cinnamon__Sasquatch 11m ago

Felt like it needed more explaining than a simple yes.

u/zer1223 1h ago

That being said I do have a question of money. Where the hell did the 13B from Venezuela go?

Defund ICE and tell Trump he has to fund it himself. Suddenly the 13B will appear like magic (or it won't. Either way, it's some progress)

u/Cream_Stay_Frothy 1h ago

I swear, even the outside chance that this loser gets shipped off to The Hauge during the next administration is what keeps me going. He, along with several others deserve worse, but I think that would probably be the best we could hope for in terms of seeing some actual justice. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll be possible to find on US soil

u/nekosama15 1h ago

The comment section is missing the point. Hagseth is just there to lay the groundwork to blame the democrats for anything that goes wrong in the future. This is where the gaslighting starts

u/Kingstoncr8tivearts 59m ago

"I believe he's on the right path. Best there ever has been."

  • Anyone with R.-___ probably

u/LPH2005 58m ago

I must have been asleep. Did congress declare war? If not, then pull funding and stop the Epstein distraction.

u/D3PyroGS 56m ago

Hegseth: "You're a political coward because you won't throw a trillion more dollars into my money pit 😡😡😡"

lmao. how can anybody take this guy seriously

u/johnp299 1h ago

What if Hegseth's boss wants an ongoing distraction, not a winnable war?

u/danstymusic 57m ago

More of this. He needed to double down even more. Point out all the taxpayer money they're wasting because of his incompetent leadership and then has the nerve to come asking for more.

u/sketchahedron 51m ago

The fact that the almighty U.S. military is unable to resoundingly defeat a military consisting primarily of cheap drones tells you everything you need to know about the absurdity of their $1.5 trillion budget request.

u/D-inventa 57m ago

so what's the plan then?

u/MaximumNameDensity 46m ago

Vote enough reasonable people into congress in November to oust these fuck-wits.

I think that's an insanely hopeful plan... But, options get real grim after that.

u/JaySin_78 52m ago

Sadly, Gary is retiring. So this is a ‘I have nothing to lose’ confrontation, but I’ll take it.

u/smallboxofcrayons 51m ago

When you hire clowns don’t be surprised when you have a circus.

u/PaulClarkLoadletter 49m ago

Wow. Pete looks sweatier than a can of Pepsi on a porch in Mississippi during August.

I love how every Republican in the hot seat is clearly coached on how to get angry at the line of questioning instead of how to answer simple questions.

u/Rashpukin 48m ago

Hegseth is a total tit and an absolute embarrassing failure. Yet here we are.

u/JacquoRock 48m ago

Hegseth is the failure. He and the rest of the "leadership" ARE the failure. Jesus Christ. So glad to hear somebody spell it out simply. I wish every single senator would, going forward, begin any questioning of Hegseth with this statement to drive the point home.

u/DivDee 46m ago

Why does everyone on that administration sound like Tim Heideckers character from On Cinema

u/pomod 43m ago

Hegseth: "once the manly men of our armed forces get proper haircuts they'll be warriors"

u/KerryWood34 40m ago

Don't forget the manicu-...i mean... :)

u/steveaustin1971 41m ago

I don't think most Americans understand what this trillion dollars means for America at this moment in time. You're SO fucked now. You were in a tight spot before this but now you are just fucked. The world is quietly selling US bonds. The more we pull out of the US dollar, the faster it will come crashing down. We're VERY close to the tipping point and there's really no scenario where this doesn't happen now.

u/Prima13 38m ago

Not going to matter. They’re going to give them the money. This is all political theater. The Article I branch of government ceased the checks and balances ages ago.

u/battleofmtbubble 29m ago

The sec of defense has troops sacrificing their lives for their country, but he and his boss can’t sacrifice a drop of their egos for the well being of the nation

u/nowhereman136 27m ago

For the 2026 fiscal year, the US spends just over $1T on military. That is about 1/7th the Federal Budget.

Iran has a GDP of $300b. Their federal budget is around $110b, of which $8b is spent on military.

Our $1T military apparently isnt a match for their $8b military. Maybe if we add another $500b to it, we might have a chance

u/ApexMM 24m ago

Anyone who has this energy in the democrat party has my vote unconditionally

u/Yohder 24m ago

Pete Hegseth is a war criminal. His incompetency and disregard for human life lead to the deaths of 150+ innocent kids. Trump is also a war criminal.

u/stolentext 24m ago

As usual Hegseth is flapping his jaws and deflecting. What a god damn embarrassment this country has become.

u/bareboneschicken 23m ago

Valid criticism.

u/labelkills1331 19m ago

Let's fucking go. Finally showing a spine!

u/Gone213 18m ago

Whys Gary Peters mad? Hes one of the dems that put kegsbreath into the seat.

u/srector1224 54m ago

Kegsbreath needs to be marched out back and [REDACTED] with the rest of them

u/BurtReynoldsLives 53m ago

Fund them with what, more borrowed money from China? We are like 40 trillion in debt, this guy wants a trillion more, and what does the average citizen have to show for it?

u/mgmx1989 52m ago

God Kegsbreath is such a whiny little prick.

u/Avoidtolls 44m ago

Fuck Yeah. Get em Gary.

u/sdmichael 42m ago

Trumpers will say he had tDs or just hates trump for the sake of it. They'll also blame Democrats and/or liberals for the war Republicans and Co started.

u/golgiiguy 38m ago

Seriously fuck Pete Hegseth. What a terrible piece of shit in every way.

u/Toidal 37m ago

I want someone to take another angle to this, like ask Hegseth something akin to if he realizes that Trump's actions and hissy fits are making him look like a dumb jackass.

u/Icy_Department8104 37m ago

We waste so much money on defense (more like offensive now) spending; Hegseth asking for more is insane.

It absolutely blows my mind on how stupendously dense the trump administration is. Seriously, it wouldn't take much for trump and the administration to flip their approval numbers. Trump could make things better for americans, TOMORROW with his kangaroo court government, but instead hired a bunch of goons that just turned it into a massive circus cringe act.

u/redvelvetcake42 35m ago

Prove where he's wrong. There is no plan, no idea to move forward.

u/slaxname 26m ago

I think the bigger question is why are we in a war with Iran in the first place? Why did we attack another sovereign country half away across the globe?

u/poppin-n-sailin 26m ago

Fuck the USA. I hope your country crumbles while I'm still alive to watch it happen. I don't even care how devastating it would be globally. Watching the USA unravel would be such a bittersweet catharsis.

u/RafikiafReKo 16m ago

"Win the war". He missed the fact the fact that the second US bombed Iran, they lost

u/GoneinaSecondeded 14m ago

I am not one for grandstanding, but the dude is right. It would be nice if congress finally did their job and held the administration accountable for all the grifting, criminality and incompetence.

The military budget is crazy ridiculously high. It needs to be cut by more than half. It is shameful that we have a trillion dollars to go toward killing people but nothing for healthcare, or education, or anything that actually benefits the American Public.

u/highvyleague 13m ago

Glad to see Peters show up and actually do his job this term.

u/IH8BART 10m ago

I know you are but what am I ass administration

u/evilpercy 3m ago

Did they learn nothing from Russias 3 day special operations into Ukraine. Russia was deemed the 2 or 3 best military in the world, not sure how far down the list Ukraine was at the start of the war but Iran fas higher then Ukraine at the time.

u/Pubs01 3m ago

little peter. trying to use testerone as a guideline for soldiers. pathetic. same old playbook from pos republicans using funding denials to equate to not wanting our brothers and sisters to die in pointless conflicts

u/kipribley28 3m ago

Drunk megalomaniac.

u/trucorsair 3m ago

Pete is just a fucking embarrassment and a mindless stooge of a criminal. Worse yet a TRUE BELIEVER of whatever the “orange man” says.

u/evilpercy 2m ago

His only qualifications was loyalty to Trump. That is the only qualifications for every position in Trumps administration.

u/tfsteel 2m ago

Valhalla don't come cheap. Geuuyyyrrrrahhh

u/hemightbebrian 53m ago edited 14m ago

In all fairness to hegseth, $1.5 trillion is not a lot of money.

Edit: I thought it was obvious that I was joking.

u/DMala 9m ago

Shit, I mean Trump’s stolen nearly that much from us at this point.

u/Razzilith 32m ago

This fucking moron could have an infinite military budget and still lose.

It was ALWAYS a failed strategy. The USA hasn't actually won a single fucking war in the middle east. It's ALWAYS been a disaster with massive consequences.

We suck ass at wars considering our wealth and numbers and have a military that is always in over it's head due to the horrible choices of wannabe war mongers who sit on their ass back at home. What a horrible bloody joke this is.

It's insane how many people agree with this stupid prick though. That's the real nail in the coffin for our country. People being hateful suckers.
