Should quitting be treated as a success inside vaping communities?

People often join vaping communities because they are trying to move away from another habit, but the conversation sometimes stops there.

If someone later decides to reduce their use or quit completely, that should not be interpreted as an attack on everyone who continues.

A mature community should be able to support different goals, including switching, reducing dependence, or stopping entirely.

Do vaping communities do enough to support members who eventually decide they no longer want to vape?

Convenience has created an environmental problem nobody wants to own

Convenient products are easy to use and easy to discard, but the waste does not disappear when the user throws them away.

Batteries, electronics, plastics, and leftover liquid can all end up inside a product treated like ordinary trash.

Responsibility is often pushed between manufacturers, retailers, regulators, and consumers, with each group arguing that someone else should solve it.

Who should carry the greatest responsibility for collection and disposal: manufacturers, sellers, governments, or users?

When does harm reduction turn into lifestyle marketing?

There is an important difference between helping an adult move away from smoking and presenting vaping as something everyone should find appealing.

That boundary becomes less clear when the surrounding culture emphasizes aesthetics, collecting, social status, or constant novelty.

Responsible discussion should probably focus on relative risk, informed choices, and realistic expectations rather than making the behavior look harmless or aspirational.

Where do you think the line sits between harm-reduction communication and lifestyle promotion?

Should vaping communities talk more openly about dependence?

Online discussions often focus on devices, regulations, and personal preferences, while dependence receives much less attention.

Maybe that is because people fear sounding judgmental or giving ammunition to those who want prohibition. But avoiding the subject does not make it disappear.

A community can support harm reduction while still acknowledging when a habit has become difficult to control.

How can people discuss dependence honestly without turning the conversation into shame or moral judgment?

Has vaping become too connected to personal identity?

Something that started for many people as an alternative to smoking can gradually become a hobby, routine, social group, and part of how they describe themselves.

That can make honest conversations about dependence more difficult. Criticizing a habit may feel like criticizing the person, while cutting down or quitting can feel like leaving a community behind.

Would vaping discussions be healthier if people treated it as a behavior rather than an identity?

r/vaper is open again after 5 years

Hey everyone,

After being inactive for around 5 years, r/ vaper is finally open again.

This sub is meant to be a simple place for vape-related discussion, questions, setups, devices, juice recommendations, troubleshooting, and general community talk.

A few things going forward:

No spam
No sketchy sales links
No underage content
No obvious promotion pretending to be a normal post
Keep things helpful and respectful

Since the sub has been quiet for a long time, we’re slowly bringing it back and trying to make it useful again.

Feel free to introduce yourself, share what device you’re using, ask questions, or suggest what kind of content you’d like to see here.

Glad to have the sub back.
