Politics Marie just voted for the SAVE America act...just over a week after saying she didn't support it.

Because it included potential text about banning insider trading amongt congressional members. There was already separate legislation proposed by AOC on this, but she chose to vote for the weaker version, which also advanced the SAVE America act.

She posted a video about it on her FB, there are sources available elsewhere

Anyways come to Drop the Mic tonight at 7 to meet Brent, who actually WOULDN'T support the SAVE America Act, SAVE Act, or this entire NDAA nightmare.

Discussion VPD Needs to Stop with the Non-Emergency AI

It works terribly, one-call requests are now multi-follow up calls because it's glorified text-to-speech spyware that botches critical details. None of us opted into this. It's bullshit that taxpayer money went to such a wasteful and unproductive system.

Spend that on actual hiring, training, organizational auditing that prevents terrible administrative decisions like this. Keep AI out of Public-facing services PLEASE.

News La Sorrentina gets official Neapolitan pizza nod

From a La Sorrentina social media post today:

After years of passion, sacrifice, study, and countless hours in front of a wood-fired oven, Daisuke has officially been recognized by the Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani (A.P.N.) as an Official Neapolitan Pizzaiolo. Even more, Pizzeria La Sorrentina has been certified by the A.P.N. as an establishment that faithfully represents the traditions, techniques, and values of authentic Neapolitan pizza.

What does that mean?

It means that every pizza we serve isn’t simply “Neapolitan-style.” It is made according to a culinary tradition that has been passed down for generations in Naples using simple, extraordinary ingredients—00 flour, sea salt, yeast, San Marzano tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella—along with techniques refined over centuries. This isn’t just food; it’s living history. A tradition so culturally significant that the Art of the Neapolitan Pizzaiuolo is recognized and protected by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

We are also incredibly proud to be the first pizzeria in our area to receive this recognition from the A.P.N. It is an honor we don’t take lightly, and one we promise to uphold every single day.

Politics Celebrate Deken's Birthday and Help Build Momentum for Victory! He is running against JOHN LEY!!

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone,

Come celebrate Elect Deken Letinich's birthday and be part of the momentum to elect a new voice for our community!

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Deken in person, ask him your questions, hear about his vision for Clark County, and learn why he's the right person to replace John Ley. Whether you've been supporting his campaign from the beginning or are just getting to know him, we'd love to have you join us.

There is no obligation to make a donation - your presence and support mean a great deal. But if Deken earns your confidence and you'd like to help send him to Olympia , a contribution of any size will go directly toward reaching more voters, expanding our grassroots efforts, and building the campaign needed to win this race.

Campaigns are won because people show up, get involved, and invest in the future they want to see. Come celebrate Deken's birthday, meet your candidate, and help us build the momentum to bring new leadership to the 18th LD.

We can't wait to celebrate with you and continue this journey together!

Politics Clark County Councilor Michelle Belkot focus of complaint filed with state Public Disclosure Commission

Thumbnail columbian.com
25 Upvotes

A complaint filed with the state Public Disclosure Commission alleges Clark County Councilor Michelle Belkot failed to accurately disclose contributions and expenditures related to her current run for reelection and also failed to disclose required personal financial information.

Vancouver resident and chair of the 18th Legislative District Democrats LaDonna Kirkpatrick filed the complaint on June 9 that cited missing information for Belkot’s husband, and incomplete or inaccurate information for fundraising and contributions.

The PDC’s F-1 form, or personal financial affairs statement, requires all financial information — such as bank accounts, employer information and wages, compensation from governmental agencies, real property valued greater than $10,000, etc. — be disclosed for the candidate and their immediate family members.

“None of the six F-1 reports filed by Michelle Belkot since 2021 include any income, assets, real estate, debt, lobbying activity or gifts connected to Michelle Belkot’s husband, Dennis Belkot, as required by law,” Kirkpatrick said in the complaint.

Additionally, Kirkpatrick said Belkot did not list the Felida home the couple jointly own nor did Belkot disclose any related mortgage information.

“Michelle Belkot not only did not list this property as owned by her and (her husband) but she also went to the trouble to claim that no property was owned in the state of Washington,” Kirkpatrick said.

Clark County property records list Belkot and her husband as co-owners, with the home valued at $785,000.

Kirkpatrick also cited concerns about Belkot’s fundraising activities. She said Belkot has been raising campaign funds through sites like GiveSendGo.com and Anedot.com, along with at least one in-person fundraising event, but it’s unclear whether the funds are being spent on campaign activities or paying for legal fees related to her April 2025 lawsuit against the county and fellow County Councilor Wil Fuentes over her removal from C-Tran’s board.

Kirkpatrick said funds from a second GiveSendGo campaign in 2026 were reported but there were some discrepancies that have not been addressed.

While contributions and donations from a March 26 kickoff fundraiser at Los Potrillos Restaurant in Vancouver were reported to the PDC, the complaint states expenses for the event were not reported.

“If the Clark County GOP or some other committee paid the expense of the kickoff fundraiser, those expenses should have been reported as in-kind (contributions),” Kirkpatrick said.

The PDC website shows $1,320.33 paid to Los Potrillos was reported on July 9.

Kirkpatrick said it’s unclear whether contributions are going to Belkot’s legal fees and that information should have been disclosed. She said more than $30,000 of Belkot’s legal fees were paid by the Clark County Republican Central Committee, which was disclosed on PDC reports filed by the Republican party. But other sources — like the unpublished GiveSendGo campaign — are far less clear.

When contacted by The Columbian for comment, Belkot said she has responded to the PDC and would wait until that response has been published.

“When an elected official fails to disclose required financial information, such as a spouse’s assets, a home, or other reportable interests, it undermines the transparency system that allows voters to evaluate potential conflicts of interest,” Kirkpatrick said.

She said financial disclosure forms are designed to publicly show who may have financial ties that could influence decision-making, but when that information is missing or incomplete, voters lose the ability to fully understand potential conflicts or personal interests.

“The result is reduced transparency, weakened public trust, and a diminished ability for voters to see who may be financially influencing an elected official’s actions or advocacy,” she said.

The outcome of the PDC investigation, which typically takes 30 to 90 days, will be posted on the agency’s website when complete.

Discussion Another Housing Market Check-in

My house is on the market. Has been since Feb. It is listed at a great price, yet we're barely showing.

At this point we're considering Opendoor and just moving on with our lives. How is it out there? If you're selling, is it showing? If you're in the market (the 5 of you) what are your deal breakers?

Discussion Big motocross races this weekend at the Washougal MX park!

I'm pretty hyped for the races. Washougal hosts a round of the AMA national pro motocross championship each year. It happens to be taking place this Saturday, July 25th.

Traffic will be backed up for a couple hours of Washougal River Road so plan accordingly if you've never been.

If you are interested but have questions about the events feel free to comment I have been to several of these races and I'm sure there are others that can chime in too. All of the previous races are streaming through peacock because NBC has the broadcasting rights to the sport.

For all the homers like me, we have a local dude who is in first place in his division so come out and root for Levi Kitchen #47 with the rest of the crowd!

News Beth Kuzmovich WON her sexual assault protection order against Holidays on Franklin founder Jim Mains

From Judge Nancy Retsinas: "The court will enter a 3 year sexual assault protection order...The court finds by the preponderance of the evidence that Ms. Kuzmovich proved the specific act of nonconsensual sexual conduct identified in the written findings. The court found her testimony concerning that act more credible than Mr. Mains' response to the allegation."

Greater reporting can be found via Everything’s Fine in SW WA, but this case is a win for all of Jim’s victims and every woman who has endured SA. What this also means is her extensive collection of evidence and other victims’ statements remain publicly on file. She stood up for all women, endured a ton of hate and threats during the process, reminded the world that time is irrelevant to healing from traumatic events, and fought to keep our children safe from future occurrences. Let it be our reminder with the holidays around the corner, F Holidays on Franklin.

Does anyone have recent experience with the 10 month blended HVAC program at the Charter College in Vancouver? Says half class half hands on.

I have about 4 apprenticeship applications out and waiting to hear back but in case those fall through I’m preparing to go to the charter to get my foot in the door at least.

Pets: Lost and Found Found pet pigeon

Post image
29 Upvotes

It landed on my front porch (Carter Park)

It's definitely a pet, it has a yellow band on its left foot and is rather tame.

If nobody here knows the owner, any advice on what to do? I set down food and water for now. I'll probably try to capture it this evening and bring it in the house, because of cats/raccoons. If I manage it, I'll be able to look for an ID on the band.

Does anybody knows a rescue that handles pigeons ?

Update: thanks everyone for the advice. Pigeon hung out on my porch for a few hours then left. Hopefully it finds its way home.

BestAround? Best fajitas in the area?

Been on a fajita kick recently and have been trying a bunch of different places. To my surprise, the best I've had so far is from Who Song and Larry's -- their steak fajitas are really good. I suspect there's better around here though! Any recommendations? In the Vancouver area, or across the river is fine too.
