Hi everyone!
I’ll be studying abroad in Valencia this fall at Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV) from September to early January, and I’m hoping to find opportunities to get involved in healthcare or research during my time there.
I’m a junior from the U.S. on the pre-med track, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Biology. I’m also a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and a Nationally Registered/Maryland EMT. Recently, I completed a clinical externship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and I’m interested in gaining firsthand experience with Spain’s healthcare system as I explore the possibility of pursuing medicine or graduate education abroad after graduation.
I reached out to UCV about their hospital internship program, but unfortunately I do not meet the Spanish language requirement (they require at least a B2 level). Since my semester schedule is already filled with degree requirements, I wasn’t able to add a Spanish course while abroad.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any hospitals, clinics, universities, research labs, professors, or organizations in Valencia that accept international students or volunteers who primarily speak English. I’m especially interested in opportunities related to medicine, psychology, neuroscience, or clinical research, but I’m open to anything that would allow me to learn more about healthcare and research in Spain.
I would really appreciate any recommendations, advice, or personal experiences. Thank you so much!
