I’m about to go into my second year of college and i’m a reapplicant but i’ve been taking classes over the summer and my summer classes are cut into blocks so there’s summer I and Summer II. I got A’s in my two summer classes in Summer I and i’m currently taking Gen chem I and Gen Chem I Lab. I’m almost positive i’m going to get a A in the lab but i don’t think i’m going to pass the lecture and i’m genuinely so scared. It’s a 5 week class so recovery is incredibly limited and i am able to withdraw but if i withdraw from the lecture, it will automatically drop the lab and if I withdraw, my scholarship will make me pay them the money back which i don’t have.

I’m a political science major and I do very well at it but my Chem I professor in my lecture doesn’t teach, she just reads off slides and there’s no tutoring in the summer, i’m not super strong in math but i’m able to get through it with a helpful professor. I feel like this is going to destroy my application and I just don’t know what to do.

Looking for some general information about football game day in Annapolis. My wife and I are planning on going to opening week and I’m curious about tailgating/going to the game.

Is there any restriction for seating? We are not military and haven’t been military - and don’t want to do anything but support the academy and meet some good people.

Can you openly drink in tailgate areas? Does the stadium sell beer?

Traditions: do the midshipmen march on the field every game? Anything a die hard college football fan should not miss?

Both the Naval Academy and West Point have an essay prompt dealing with some type of character development they are as follows:

USNA:

• Describe a personal experience you have had which you feel has contributed to your own character development and integrity.

USMA:

• Reflect on an experience in which you faced adversity and how it shaped your character.

Because they are similar, can i write an essay that can be used for both prompts, and submit it to both service academies?

I am currently in the process of applying for USNA (BEAT ARMY) and would like some input for my response to the second part of the application essay. I served a semester as the commander of my JROTC’s drill team, and there was a dispute between a friend of mine and another cadet. He was acting a fool and getting in the way of the other cadet during a practice, so I was forced to side against him. Does this carry enough weight to be a viable response?

Edit: I decided to roll with it, so here is my response to the second prompt. Any tips or critiques are welcome.

Living by the standards of the Navy is not always easy. I served a semester as the flight commander for my unit’s competitive drill team,  so it was my responsibility to ensure everyone in the flight was staying on task during practices. During one practice, there was a dispute between a friend of mine and another member of the drill team, so I pulled the two aside and listened to both sides of the argument. It quickly became clear that my friend was neglecting his duties and impacting the other cadet’s ability to do theirs. I sent the other cadet back to continue practice so I could speak to him privately. I told him that this was not the time or place for that behavior, and that we had a drill competition in the near future, so it was important that we focus on honing our skills to perform well. While it was difficult to correct a peer and close friend, he respected my decision and returned to practice. This was an important lesson in courage for me because an effective leader needs to be able to hold each member of their team accountable, especially when it is difficult.

Hey guys. I’m trying to apply to USNA but one of the main things I’ve come across is sports. I attended summer seminar this summer, and almost everybody asked me what my sport was, but here’s the thing, my school doesn’t allow sports. I attend a very technical/specialized school (im a high schooler who’s going to be graduating with an associates degree). And I know for one of the letters of recommendation it should be a coach of some sort (I think?). So what should I do to get around some of the sports related questions on the application? im gonna be a freshman in highschool any tips for what i should aim for to get into usna

Hello, posting again because I just got a letter from my plebe. I don't know if she meant from other people, but it sounds like she has not gotten any mail as of July 7th. First image is the address they gave us during the parents orientation so this is where I have been sending the letters and my packages, but the second one is the return address from my plebe. Is my mail not reaching her because I am writing the address wrong?? Or is the mailing system just that slow?

( I might be misinterpreting it wrong though, I'm not sure. First phonecall is tomorrow so I am going to try and get clarification then but idk)

I attended both Summer Seminar at the Naval Academy and SLE at West Point (back to back weeks), but since I went to Summer Seminar first, I did much better on the CFA than I did at SLE when I was sore from the week before. I would like to send my USNA CFA score over to West Point for my application there, but am not sure how to do so. Does anyone know how this may be done? Thank you!

Just looked on the usna webpage, and it said that the class of 2030 has kids from 49/50 states this year. Does anyone know what that missing state may be, and if so, why?

For context, I'm a rising junior in New Jersey and I go to a super large public school (around 600 people per grade).

I'm gonna be taking the SAT this August but my PSAT from last year was a 1370 (680 english and 690 math). I've also been working on simulations to help land research opportunities and I have multiple Leadership positions in clubs where I impact around 70-150 people. I also have 200+ volunteer hours through an international nonprofit and I am the chapter's student outreach and social media head. My family is not a military family at all if that's relevant. I would really appreciate any advice anyone might have.

Not sure if this is just me or anyone else in the state of Virginia. I had my counselor and teachers send their required materials to the senator but still nothing has came back as received. I’ve followed up, called, and still nothing. Not sure what to do now. For the record, my teachers sent their letters of rec in April…

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to improve my chances- I plan on retaking the SAT in September and I would love any advice on Essays as well.

So I just finished up my JR year, I was feeling as confidant as I could have achieving my goal to be part of the class of 2031. I have a three year cumulative unweighted average of 3.6 and a weighted average of 4.2. I have taken mostly honors and 3 AP classes.

Not sure of class rank, I estimate by NHS I am solidly in the top 20% maybe better around 700 in my class

Here is my worry, I had a difficult end of this year I ended with a 75 in AP Physics and a 79 in AP Pre Calculus. I know those grades are poor and no excuses. Over the 3 years I have no grades lower than 88 besides those 2.

Next year I am taking AP Calculus BC and AP Chemistry and I know I need to lock in the 1st half of the year.

I was hoping I would be in line maybe for a LOA
