My tuition shows a balance of close to $11.3k for the 1st year of nursing. I will be beginning this fall. Is this a mistake or is this how much it usually is? But on their website it says for the first year its "$6,222.69". I'm confused lol

Has anyone used a Legion 5i for engineering? Is it enough for all 4 years, especially for SolidWorks, or should I spend more on a workstation laptop like an HP ZBook? Thanks!

Hi there, my son is entering the mechanical engineering program at OTU, and I am wondering how we can save on textbooks? Are there soft copies that can be used or rented to avoid the weight of physical books? (I saw LibGen mentioned in other threads, but would it suffice for engineering students?) On a separate note, I noticed that the price of the laptop officially recommended on the OTU page is through the roof—is it really necessary, or is it overkill? Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I accepted an offer for the mbai part time program and was registering in courses i got into business analytics and visualization and story telling but the issue im facing is that the visualization class is during work hours. im confused as to why most of the classes are only being offered during the day when i thought it would be understood part time masters would mean most of the classes would be offered in the evening since they are also all in person.
Can anyone clarify if the the recommended stream is what we should follow to successfully complete this program?

**I am an incoming first year Criminology student who needs practical advice for course selection.

I am a student interested in law school meaning it is mandatory I protect my GPA, therefore I'm deciding between 4 and 5 course semesters. I understand this will lengthen the time I am in University in addition to an increase of time due to co-op. I believe it is possible to take summer courses during the summer of my first year and even obtain credits through my co-op periods which will occupy the remaining summers. However I need some more specific and direct advice from more experienced individuals in my field of study.

Do most student find 5 courses manageable? Or is 4 a more realistic workload? For my second question I'm curious about course pairings per semester, I do not wish to pair the heaviest courses required into one semester, however I lack any real insight into the workload. I also have a sense of first-thing's-first and that it might be more ideal to enroll in some prior to others. I also would like to maintain a strong pivot point in the event that the increase in AI development shrinks the entry-level market or I pursue a separate interest within the field. It is also entirely possible it is not the best fit for me and would not like to be so specialized in the legal field that my options are otherwise depleted if I don't proceed to law school.

The mandatory courses I had in mind for my first semester were as follows:

SSCI 1910U Writing for the Social Sciences (Learning how to learn first seems like the most logical course of action.) CRMN 1000U Introduction to Criminology and Justice (Foundational for my field, regardless of direction.) SOCI 1000U Introductory Sociology (Foundational topics I will need almost immediately in my studies.) LGLS 1000U Foundations of Legal Studies (Important, career specific course.) PSYC 1000U Introductory Psychology (Potential 5th course, if not taken during the fall semester it would undoubtedly be taken through the winter.)

I have an understanding of sequence, despite the priority placed on Sociology (the study of social groups) rather than psychology (the study of the mind and the individual which makes up the group) I slightly prioritize psychology, however I worry about the possibility of stacking dense, difficult courses together in my first semester. Therefore I'm curious which I should actually prioritize, regardless of how many courses per semester I take.**

I’m choosing between Psychology and Forensic Psychology at Ontario Tech and could use some advice.

I’m leaning toward general psych because it seems broader and might give me more job options later on (i could be wrong), but I also think the forensic/justice stuff is interesting, so I’m kind of torn.

If you’re in either program there:
• Why did you pick it?
• Do you feel like you have good options after?

Incoming 3rd-year CS (Honours & Co-op) student at Ontario Tech, deciding between Software Dev and AI specializations by Monday. I know the school had data science specializations but I’m pretty sure the AI and software development ones are pretty new specializations tho.

My background so far is full-stack (React/Flask/Node.js), and I’m currently interviewing for software co-ops. Been told AI is the better long-term by actual developers with years of experience even though the market for it seems tighter right now compared to general software roles.

Anyone have advice/opinions/ideas on which sets you up better for the future: software dev or AI/ML? Curious how the job markets compare a few years out.

I will be looking to buy a parking pass for the North Campus Ice Centre lot for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027. I just had a couple of questions:

1. Does the school announce beforehand when registration for a pass opens? I think last year it opened mid-July. Or, do we just have to check our email notifications regularly for the announcement that parking pass registration has opened? From my school email it looks like they gave an announcement beforehand for Winter 2026 but not Spring 2026.

2. I might be dumb, but I'm a little confused about purchasing for the semester vs the year. Is there an option when you select the "Tariff" (permit) type to buy a permit for one year, or does the pass renew via your credit card etc. for the second semester (if you don't cancel it)?
