I’ve been studying the Bachelors of Economics for eleven years. It’s been a fun ride, I’ve taken maybe 5 gap years so I’ve only been studying for six. Some trimesters, I just drop all my courses before the census date and take it one at a time. It’s great, vindicating. Liberating. But recently, when I was retaking microeconomics one for the 7th time, I realised that my passion actually lies in philosophy. I sat in that lecture hall, and it hit me, I want to be a 20th year philosophy undergraduate. Would you guys think people would respect me for this?

before attending the number 1 uni i thought i was a really fast walker and was special ✨

that was till i joined this prestigious uni and set foot towards the ee toilets from anzac parade

the sheer speed of my fellow 99 atar students was extraordinary. women, men, children, dogs and the unsw lion all gapping me. leaving me behind all alone. it was like how i felt when i had to break up with my girlfriend of 2 days

this has caused insane emotional distress to me as i feel as if i don’t belong here

what can i do? is this something i must cope with? are number 1 uni students also number 1 walkers?

I’ve got a job interview next week and I was wondering what the etiquette is…

Would it be rude to ask the interviewer what university they went to before deciding whether I answer their questions?

I just don’t want to waste either of our time if we’re not academically compatible 😭

The bloody concession renewal thing wont allow unsw for some reason, it keeps saying "Provide a valid institution name", I HAVE GIVEN IT EVERY NAME and theres no drop down bar so WTF you want me to do.

So has me now paying FULL ADULT Prices like wtf im a uni student I dont got an extra $20 a week to pay for PT. and they blame us for skipping tapping on for the LR.

And fucking Transport NSW wont let me email them a complaint (I know it wont do anything itll just feel better)

Has anyone else noticed that Google Maps gets significantly less helpful around UNSW?

It’ll just say things like “Head north” or “Destination is on your right.”

Is it less accurate around campus because it assumes we’re all smart enough to figure it out ourselves, or is it just me?

i'm currently a y12 student studying vce, and i'm thinking of going into DS (maybe). i was considering bachelor of Data Science and Decisions, but I heard the content is super crammed for three years, and it's sort of like a jack of all trades master of none sort of issue?

and somany people switch to CS + Adv maths halfway through anyways (correct me if i'm wrong though, would love to hear more thoughts) - which is why I'm considering now the 5 years Bachelor of Science (Adv Maths) (Honours) / Science (Computer Science) course.

however, since i'm from victoria, moving interstate may pose a problem, and monash is probably my next 'option', where i would do the 4 year Science/Science double degree majoring in maths and computer science respectively, but i dont think the course structure would be as extensive.

my main issues are internships (which i heard will have better opportunities in unsw - because the big companies are there - ie canva atlassian etc), course structure (ik there are trimesters, but going in 2027, most of my degree would be under semesters anyway- 2028), teaching (more self-taught, or tutor-led) as well as social life.

also would it be hard to find part time work (such as a high school tutor interstate - considering i got good grades in vce(i think its called like the top band in hsc?))

so i'm looking for pros and cons for each course, or if you'd like to share your experiences in the course, or if you moved interstate if you have any :) thank you!!

So I know elec1111 is super hard (I’m taking it rn and barely distinctioned the midterm). But, I was wondering what you guys are using for the lectures because while I like our lecturer this term, I feel like he goes too fast and I can’t really understand the topic as much as I hope. I was wondering if yall used any other resources (I read the textbook from time to time), but I mainly want to watch lectures as the textbooks take so long to read and do! Also links to practice problems would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I'm joining UNSW College this November and I am very scared. For context I speak fluent English and the only reason I'm doing the foundation program is because I fucked up my IB score last minute. I heard many of them will be chinese who don't speak english, and that's fine with me since I lived half my life in Asia where there are a lot of chinese, but I am scared about the 'don't speak to english' part...like what if they don't want to be friends? If anyone has any advice or want to link up to help each other out before the term starts please contact me!

Ill probably be going in November (physical science stream). Is the teaching really as bad as they say?I understand alot of students are chinese and barely speak english and stuff but idrc about making friends since ill be in and out within 9 months. I just needa do well for the exams and shit. Would listening in class and doing my tutorials suffice or would i probably have to look up videos on youtube? How hard would one have to work to achieve an 8.5-ish gpa. How many hours per week would one have to put in? Would be helpful if comparisons with GCE O levels or A levels were made. My sciences and math are pretty decent, and im fluent at english as well. Dont have any knowledge in computing but ill be learning abit on my own before November. Thanks in advance
