Miscellaneous Created a new free MYKI inspector reporting app

Been using the PTV Alert app for a while, but saw it cost money after a month and since I've been looking for a coding project to work on I decided to make my own :)
I have added some features that will hopefully also make the app easier to use like:

- Making reports tied to stops (tram, train, bus), so you can see where reports are

- A route view so you can see every report on the stops along it

- Also loading in reports from the Facebook page into the app

Would be keen to hear people's opinions and ways to improve it for the future asw.

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries COMP10001 Hurdle fail.

Upvotes

I was very tapped out in S1 and managed to fail COMP10001 because I forgot to submit one of the projects and didn't clear the hurdle. I completed algorithmics in y12 and got the necessary raw score so I'd still be able to catch up with algorithms/data structures next year. Do I still need to complete 10001 this semester then 10002? Or can I take the programming test. Any help appreciated thx

New Student If I want to apply for Bach of biomedical science, is there any way of getting in w/o methods?

I graduated 2025. I got an ATAR of 92.15, and unfortunately gave zero shits about my future when I chose my subjects. I took a gap year and now in thinking about reality and what I want in my life. Obviously I can't go back to high school and do methods...

Support TIMETABLE

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I hope you’re enjoying the last week of the school holidays!

Is anyone studying the MTeach this semester and willing to swap classes?

EDUC91069: Friday 11 am–1 pm → Thursday 11 am–1 pm

EDUC91068: Friday 2–4 pm → Thursday 2–4 pm

I’m already on the waitlists and have submitted a Timetable Assistance Form, but I haven’t heard back yet. Classes start next Monday, so I’m getting a little worried.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do if I still haven’t received a response by the end of this week? Should I attend my currently scheduled Friday classes in Week 1 while waiting to see if I can be moved to my preferred Thursday classes from Week 2?

Thank you!

Admission and Transferring I’m applying for SEAS and want to go to University of Melbourne and am confused about the process.

Upvotes

I have a few questions regarding this!

1) When I apply for SEAS and implement all my supporting documents etc. and put Melbourne Uni as a course preference, am I automatically considered for Access Melbourne or do I need to submit a second application directly to Melbourne?
2) Does Melbourne Uni use your raw selection rank (e.g., I get an 86 ATAR) or the adjusted one (hypothetically 86 -> 90) when putting down your eligibility? As in, I wanted to apply for a Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne and wanted to go to Melbourne Uni and applied for Category 3 (Disability or medical condition) and got around a moderate rating which sits at an 88. Would they use your normal selection rank (86) or the adjusted selection rank (90) when determining if you're eligible if that makes sense?

Thank you :)

I don't think I've ever seen anyone get caught/get in trouble for having their phone ring in the exam hall. In one sitting, I think I heard abt 4 phones go off and not a single thing happened.

Admission and Transferring Unconditional Offer

I'm an upcoming undergrad for the 2027 1st Semester intake and I submitted all my grades around two weeks ago. The start date is pretty far but I do want to make sure my visa and housing is in order.

Anyways, I wanted to ask how long did it take you guys to receive your offer? And do they notify if anything I had submitted is incorrect? Thanks!

Support ansc20003 n zool20006 clash. help.

I'm taking both ANSC20003 and ZOOL20006 in the same semester and LO AND BEHOLD the almighty timetabling gods have gifted me with a clash between a PRACTICAL and a TUTORIAL. There are no other slots for these classes and as I understand, both practicals and tutorials have mandatory attendance. TAF has not given any information on what I should do and it's 5 days until classes begin. I plan to go to Stop 1 soon and I've also emailed the subject coordinator as well and will be discussing solutions with them, but it's unlikely there will be any. If I have to drop one of these subjects I will crash out.

The situation is dire and all seems lost. Send thoughts and prayers, I'm at my wits end.

Support Special on special exam

Does anybody know if chemistry faculty (third year) usually does special on special exams or not? Should I contact coordinator?

Also if I have a report from medics do I still need to get a HPR form or just a medical certificate. I asked the medic and they just said medical certificate but reading on here sounds HPR form is important.

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries MAST10010 (Data Analysis 1) vs MAST20031 (Analysis of Biological Data)

Hi!

Im a first year environmental science major, could anyone recommend whether I should take MAST10010 (Data Analysis 1) even though Im already doing MAST20031 (Analysis of Biological Data) in 2nd tear? I thought it would be good to have some background knowledge but I've seen lots of people saying Mast10010 is badly organised.

Thank you :)

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries NUTR20001 - food nutrition and health reviews please

Hi, I'm thinking of taking NUTR20001 this sem, but a little unsure after seeing some jarring old studentVIP reviews. Does anyone have any recent experience with the subject? Is it an easy load/ WAM booster to take alongside very heavy subjects (doing biomed HSF). Is the subject well organised and are the staff helpful?

Thanks!

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries PHYS30012 Groups random allocation

How are the groups allocated? I heard somewhere that you can nominate someone else to be in your group. Does this mean that they will be guaranteed to be in your group? Does only one person need to nominate for it to work or does both people need to nominate each other to be in the same group?

Also please give a review of the subject if you've done it before. What's it like? How are the group presentations done and what are the tasks given? Thank you!

Miscellaneous anyone wanna buy my Genki II Japanese textbook?

bought and used it for japanese 3 last semester. i'd say it's basically in 90% pristine condition? (not 100% cuz of the wrinkles at the top of the cover)

i'm down to sell it for like $50? i'm pretty sure on canvas they give you a 20% discount for the online kinokuniya store (where it's listed for $80.10 last i checked) but that's just saving you like $16.

i'd sell my Genki II workbook as well but my weekly homework answers are already there so lol.

if anyone's interested, just comment and i'll dm you :)

Does anyone know when special on special exams are typically held for Sem 1 subjects?

New Student Course credit transfer

has anyone transferred completed uni course credits from other universities?

i'm wondering if it has to have the exact same syllabus to be accredited.

also, if i took food science in my previous uni, but was transferring as a international relations major, would that not count in unimelb?

Support Enrolment + Attendance

I submitted an Enrolment Assistance Form to overload on 18th July. However, according to the website there is a twelve day turnaround time, meaning that I still won't be enrolled by the time Semester 2 starts.

My question is:

Can I (and should I) attend lectures/tutorials for the subject I am going to overload even if I'm not technically enrolled yet?
