Need feedback on my UI design
This is OldTimeMovie android app, and it creates silent movie clip from footage user records within the app. The included creenshots shows the different layouts and a part of the basic user flow: select size -> record footage-> add text cards -> select music. So I left out the screens that have same layout than the ones in pics. I really want your thoughts about this. If you want to test the app, its available on Google Play (search: OldTimeMovie) or link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aluxelabs.oldtimemovie&pcampaignid=web_share

How do you all get Claude Code to design your app so it doesnβt look AI generated? Mine keeps coming out looking like every other dashboard.

Need advice from UI/UX & Motion Designers β How do you make web apps look truly premium using AI/Vibe Coding?
Hey everyone π
I'm building a premium SaaS web application and I'm trying to move beyond the typical "Tailwind + shadcn" look.
I can build the functionality, but I want the product to feel like something from Linear, Stripe, Apple, Raycast, Framer, Arc Browser, or Vercel.
I'm looking for advice from people who are experienced in UI/UX, animation, and vibe coding.
Some questions:
π¨ UI Design
- How do you decide color combinations?
- How many colors should a premium dashboard actually use?
- How do you choose typography?
- Which fonts instantly make a product feel premium?
- How do you use spacing, padding, border radius, shadows, blur, and glassmorphism correctly?
- Any design systems or principles you always follow?
β¨ Animations
- Which animation libraries do you recommend?
- Motion (Framer Motion)
- GSAP
- Rive
- Lottie
- CSS only
- Where should animations be used?
- What should never be animated?
- How do companies make interfaces feel smooth without becoming distracting?
π€ Vibe Coding Workflow
I'm trying to build most of the UI using AI-assisted coding.
What tools/workflow do you recommend?
Examples:
- v0
- Lovable
- Bolt
- Replit AI
- Cursor
- Claude Code
- Windsurf
- Figma AI
- Any other tools?
Which combination gives the best results?
π Easy Websites for Inspiration
Besides Dribbble and Behance, what websites do you regularly use for premium UI inspiration?
I'm looking for sites that showcase:
- Modern SaaS dashboards
- Landing pages
- Premium animations
- Glassmorphism
- Bento layouts
- Dark mode interfaces
- Trading/Finance UI
- AI products
π Learning Resources
If you had to learn UI/UX from scratch today, what would your roadmap look like?
What would you learn first?
- Color theory
- Typography
- Layout
- Motion design
- UX psychology
- Accessibility
- Design systems
Any YouTube channels, courses, books, blogs, or creators you'd highly recommend?
π‘ Small Details That Make a Huge Difference
What tiny UI/UX details separate an average product from one that immediately feels "premium"?
Examples:
- Hover states
- Loading animations
- Empty states
- Cursor interactions
- Scroll effects
- Micro-interactions
- Sound design
- Visual hierarchy
- Anything else you've learned over the years
I'd really appreciate any insights, resources, examples, or personal workflows. Even small tips that improved your design process would be incredibly helpful.
Thanks in advance! π

Made a portfolio tracker β genuinely unsure about the UI, would love some eyes on it
So I built this app called Montraq β basically a portfolio tracker where you can keep tabs on your investments in one place. Built it with Next.js and just got it deployed.
Itβs aimed at people who want something clean and simple to track their money without all the noise most finance apps have.
Honestly not sure if the dashboard feels intuitive enough, the color scheme might be off for a finance app, and some parts might feel cluttered β but Iβve been staring at it too long to tell anymore.
Would love fresh eyes on it. Tear it apart if you need to.

How should I approach designing my first mobile app so that it's easy to implement later as a developer?
I'm a developer planning to build my **first mobile app**, but I don't have any experience with UI/UX design.
I'm **not trying to become a designer**. My goal is simply to design my own app well enough that I can develop it efficiently afterward.
My plan is to take inspiration from existing apps for common UI patterns and components (navigation, cards, buttons, layouts, etc.) instead of trying to reinvent everything. I feel this will result in a more user-friendly experience since those patterns have already been tested by millions of users.|
Should I:
* Learn Figma first? * Learn UI/UX principles before touching Figma? * Just recreate existing app screens to understand design patterns? * Or is there a better approach for someone who's primarily a developer?
I'm looking for advice from people who have been in a similar position developers who designed and built their own apps.
If you were starting today with no design experience, what roadmap would you follow to go from **developer β designing your own app β building it** without spending months trying to become a professional designer?
