What are admission averages looking like, if you or someone you know got accepted what did you/they get in with? I have heard that political science isn’t very competitive, but what are the chances that spaces fill up? There is a low chance that I will get in early, but i will apply. My average will be much stronger after first semester of grade 12 but im worried that waiting that long will just make things more competitive. I am also considering the fact that i think majority of people applying to poli sci are going into law after if i am correct, so what if that means everyone is smarter?

First year Engg, my question is that are all these classes bunched up in the middle of the day bad? Will I have smooth time to travel between them?

Hi, I've been compiling a dorm packing list and I've seen the debate on mesh or plastic shower caddies. I've seen the plastic/metal shelf ones that you can hang on shower heads but do the Lister showers extend out that much? Would it be better to hang things on the shower rod? Thank you so much!

I'm an incoming first-year BSc (Honours) student and had a question about the Breadth from Outside the Faculty of Science (BO) requirement.

From what I understand, I need to complete 6 units, and the calendar says these must include at least 3 units from two different areas.

I'm planning to take:

• SOC 225
• PSYCH 105

Both of these are listed under Social Sciences (BOSS).

My question is: Would these two courses satisfy the BO requirement, or do they need to come from two different BO categories (e.g., one from Social Sciences and one from Arts/Humanities)?

I've already emailed the University to ask, but I haven't received a reply yet. I was wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation or knows how this requirement is interpreted.

I was looking at clubs and some of these almost bother me that they exist. The pre-opt club, any pre-med club. There is a club with like 12 execs just for concussion prevention. I swear these exist solely for resumes

Hi y'all. For context, I need to finish a prereq for nursing to apply for the upcoming intake. Ideally, I need to get it done by May 2027. Does anyone know if I can take a course at another uni like Athabasca while still enrolled/taking courses at UofA during fall and winter semesters? Or is there a limit to how many courses I can take overall for the year?

I've also emailed my advisor, but it's taking a while, so I might as well ask here:)

I’m currently considering applying for nursing at the UofA either the After-Degree program or the regular Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

To be completely honest, I’m feeling pretty hesitant and intimidated. I’m almost 40, and the thought of jumping back into school at this stage in life is daunting. On top of that, English isn’t my native language, so I’m naturally worried about the language barrier, and handling the prerequisite courses.

I’d love to hear from current anyone who started their nursing journey a bit later in life.

I'm an incoming first-year BSc (Honours) student, and I've been awarded transfer credit for PHYS 124 based on my IB results.

The issue is that PHYS 144 is a required foundation course for my program, and the course catalogue states:

I'm a bit confused about what this actually means.

• Does having transfer credit for PHYS 124 simply mean I won't receive additional credit if I take PHYS 144, but I can still enroll in the course?
• Or does it mean that I would be completely ineligible to register for PHYS 144?

If it's the latter, I'd like to decline only my PHYS 124 transfer credit while keeping all of my other transfer credits.

I've already emailed the Faculty of Science about this but haven't received a response yet, so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone has gone through the same situation.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Were you able to decline a specific transfer credit, and if so, what was the process?

I have to make a preffered selection for my fall/winter semester housing. I lived in hub this summer for my summer term and It has kinda sucked ngl just because of the heat and the stairs. are aspen or maple any better?

What are the weirdest / actually intresting electives you have taken, looking for some free electives and have heard Relig 274 and a few INT D classes are good, but many are full so looking for some hidden gems (or just things to add to the watch list). For context I am in Animal Health so science related is great but I am open to anything as broad as the history of pots and pans... Thanks!
