“For four months, all of us in France will have to prove our age,” said digital minister, Anne Le Hénanff 🇫🇷🚨
🇫🇷🚨 FRANCE BANS SOCIAL MEDIA FOR U15s → EVERYONE TO VERIFY THEIR AGE.
What this means if you're in France → you'll need to user your ID card, France Connect, or facial recognition (selfie) to log in.
🚩 What’s sold as “online safety” means #surveillance via IDs checks or face scans. 🚩
We must fight against age verification - or the free web dies!

suggestion a plan for the bare minimum?
it might be a bit silly but the free one feels a bit scary bcuz if u forget to check it in the 6 months its just all gone (thinking like worst case scenario coma situtation or whatever lol)
but the paid one even tho pretty cheap 3.60 a month it just has more then id need. is there any way to make like a 1 or 2 euro plan for a bit more storage then the free one (mby 4-6gb), a few extra email adresses (like 4 or smth) and email support for us who dont rly need anything else but would like to make sure the account cant be deleted. : )

other This Right Here is why Moving From Google is Critical
Imagine getting locked out because, Google wants to see you.
Now that upon its self is not that bad, but this completes the entire cycle of your life.
They have your mail. where you go, what you surf, what you buy what you sound like, what you look like.
Tuta and Proton can not ever match what Google provides for free.
Why? Because people are willing to pay 12.00 for starbucks, but not
their email.
So in other threads in Tuta and Proton they all hate on each other.
When in reality they are on the same team.
So remember Google is the enemy, not Tuta OR Proton.

question Customize signature per mail adress
Hello,
Is there a way to have a signature depending on which email we use to redact the mail, or a variable that insert attributed name in it ?
Thanks in advance !

question Can I use my mail immediately or do I have to wait for a review?
I want to create a social media profile, but I'm not sure if that would be allowed since I just created my email.

suggestion Landscape reading (feature request)
Just an idea for the roadmap if it sounds useful to others. I mainly access my account from my phone and when reading a long email with HTML formatting and small fonts I used to switch to landscape view to make the text comfortable to read on my phone. However I cannot do this anymore, not since landscape view now switches the app into a split pane mode with folders on the left. Would others perhaps like to have a toggle in landscape view to expand the message pane all the way across the screen, hiding the folder pane? If this sound like a good idea then please up-vote.

other Timezones in calendar finally!
Hurrah, it's finally here!
This has been the biggest missing feature in Tuta for me, and as someone who travels a lot, it has caused many headaches when using the calendar to plan events across timezones. I'm delighted it's finally here, especially since it includes both separate start and end timezones.
Shout out to the team for delivering this!

question Administrator account and ALL users suddenly locked out – "Invalid credentials" on every device. Could this be billing/account status?
I'm hoping someone from Tuta or the community can help point me in the right direction.
What happened:
- Paid Tuta account with a custom domain hosted by Tuta for several years.
- Domain DNS is still correctly pointing to Tuta.
- Original administrator account uses a Tuta email address as the login.
- I also have multiple separate users under my custom domain (not aliases).
The problem:
Every account now returns "Invalid credentials."
This happens on:
- Tuta Web
- iPhone app
- iPad app
- Windows desktop app
I have:
- Manually typed the passwords countless times.
- Checked saved passwords in iCloud Keychain and Chrome.
- Tried multiple separate users (not aliases).
- Updated the apps.
- Waited several weeks in case it was a temporary issue.
Nothing has changed.
Since multiple independent users all fail with the same error, it seems very unlikely that every password suddenly became incorrect at the same time.
I'm wondering whether this could instead be:
- An expired annual subscription
- A failed payment or billing issue
- An account-level suspension or restriction
If so, does Tuta simply return "Invalid credentials" in those situations?
I currently can't access my email to receive any billing notices, so I'm trying to determine whether this is an authentication problem or an account-status problem before I start using my recovery code.
Has anyone experienced this, or has a moderator been able to confirm what typically causes this exact behavior?
Thanks.

question Tuta or Proton?
Hi, I recently got my first job and am now able to subscribe to an alternative email provider. Prior to this, I was hesitant to move all of my accounts to a different provider because of the risks associated with using free plans, such as my account being suspended or not being able to receive support.
I am posting this in the Tuta sub because I am honestly leaning more towards it. My initial idea was that even though Proton has a more explicitly corporate image with their aggressive marketing techniques and overall vibe, Tuta, at the end of the day, is also still a company trying to make a profit. However, my perspective about this recently changed. Proton wants to garner a larger audience by mirroring Google's entire ecosystem/productivity suite. They are also beginning to implement AI-features. Tuta on the other hand seems to be more firm in continuing to cater to their more niche audience, thus their more grassroots feel. And finally, and probably most importantly, my purchases are strongly influenced by my personal beliefs; I do not want to support a company with a CEO that is openly a right-winger. Anyway, while I was initially more inclined to think, well, any alternative is better than Google, I have realized that it is not the current state of Proton that concerns me but the direction it seems to be heading towards..
With that being said, there are a lot of features Proton has that are simply better than Tuta. Proton Mail and Calendar are both faster than Tuta Mail and Calendar, and a lot of image attachments in Tuta Mail emails just don't render for some reason. Something I am even more concerned about is how Tuta handles DDoS attacks. I understand why Tuta chooses to mitigate attacks without third-party intervention.. But I personally don't care too much about the privacy aspect of Tuta. I mean, I do care about privacy, but email is an inherently insecure protocol. I just don't really care about whatever "post-quantum encryption" is. I just hate Google and love FOSS.
It just takes a lot of effort to move all of my accounts to a different email provider so I want to make sure I am making a choice I don't regret. The real solution is probably to pay for a custom domain so I can easily switch providers if I need to. But I'm unfamiliar with the pricing for those things and whether they change over time, as custom website domains do. Also, I'm planning to switch my professional/IRL email as well, and I don't want a really silly cheap domain like [email protected].. Finally, I'm trying to have as few subscriptions as possible, but I understand the necessity of an email subscription, which is why I am planning to pay for one even though the free plans for both Proton and Tuta are perfectly sufficient for me.
Well that's all. Sorry for the long, discursive, and incoherent post hahaha.. Any insights/suggestions are much appreciated. And LMK if this is the wrong sub to be asking these things.

other Chat Control 1.0 vs Chat Control 2.0
Two weeks ago Chat Control 1.0 was extended in the EU → Worryingly, a lot of people online were not aware that voluntary scanning of communications HAS BEEN IN PLACE since 2021 in the EU.
Gmail, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc all scan your messages
There was also a lot of confusion around Chat Control 1.0 vs Chat Control 2.0, so we created the slider above!
Chat Control 2.0 is the biggest threat for end-to-end encrypted communication providers like us at Tuta which is why we continue to say no to #ChatControl & fight for everyone's right to privacy. ✊🏻❤️🔒

support Can't register, Blocked IP
Hi, I can't register due to blocked IP, tried with mobile data, a work vpn I have, even enabling and disabling a Pi-Hole instance on my network, but nothing works.
I went searching this subreddit and saw most of the times to write to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) .
However I have received an email stating that since I was registering to a free plan, that the support can't help me.

support First Impressions Tuta Drive
Thank you for the closed Beta access to Tuta Drive. I do understand this is an early Beta just sharing some observations.
I am using in a Mac and IOS ecosystem
1.When sharing a document in IOS, not seeing integration of the Drive as an option. I use Tresorit and that is an option with that application
2. On Mac, I am finding that I can add using the + only files, cannot add folders with nested folders and drives.
3. On Mac, I cannot drag a folder from finder with nested files and folders under it. It only brings over the top level folder with none of the container items.
Once again I understand this is an early Beta but this limited functionality prevents me from heavy testing. I hope you can begin to add additional basic features.

question Seeking Tuta iOS Search Feedback
I’m considering moving from Google to Tuta, but I have no way of testing the search capabilities on iOS with a mailbox that goes back 20 years. my test account works well when searching, but this is a small account.
Question: If you have a huge mailbox, how well and fast/slow does search work in the Tuta iOS app, when looking for content in the body of the messages?

question Question about Archiving emails
In your recent blog post Why and how to archive emails in Gmail, Outlook and Tuta Mail in 2026, you mention the following:
This can reduce the storage volume of your mailbox and improve inbox performance.
As previously mentioned, email archiving reduces storage volumes which then reduces storages costs and can improve IT performance.
Does the "reduce storage" and "improve performance" comments apply to the Tuta service itself, or is the Archive folder really just like any other folder? Meaning, I could create another folder, name it Important, and move email to that folder, and it would functionally be the same as moving the email to the Archive folder?
I'm asking this as the the blog post is a bit vague in the language regarding if there any storage and/or performance perks with the Archive folder in Tuta's service.
As a comparison, Microsoft 365 offers something called online archiving, which is a separate mailbox with it's own storage, and it's included in the price. If you enable the feature, the default rule is that everything older than two years is automatically moved to the archive mailbox, with the folder structure maintained. You can customize that rule to suit your own preference. In the end it means automatic archiving, which is available from anywhere as it's stored in the cloud. Since the archive box is a separate mailbox, it can help with keeping storage in the main mailbox down, and you won't have to upgrade to a higher tier until you run out of space in the archive or primary mailbox.
