Had a recall performed where the scuff plates were never installed from the factory. I like these a lot, but just wondering if they come in black since I have the R-Line black.

I've recently been looking into decent car care. My parents didn't teach me much, and it took me much longer than it should've to research basic car maintenance. My parents gave me my car (2018 Tiguan) at 80k miles. Well, 100k miles in, I'm checking what maintenance could've been missed. I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed. My handbook says "transmission service" at 80k. My car is at 103k miles, and I need to take it in here soon for an oil change.

My transmission isn't having any issues. Is it safe to have the fluid changed? Or is it too late?

I’m so sick of this Tiguan (2019 SE 4motion) constantly leaking oil. I take it to the shop, spend a shit ton of money, get it back for it to just start leaking again two months later. Maybe it’s the shops, but I’ve tried different ones each time.

I noticed my oil leaking again last week thanks to the low oil notification. I topped off the oil and called a few shops. The closest I can get it into the garage is Monday, the 27th. I noticed there was oil on front passenger wheel and wheel well. I brought it into the shop that will look at it on Monday to see if I can drive on it like this. The mechanic assured me that it wasn’t a problem, but my limited Google searches say I shouldn’t.

Should I just keep it in my garage until then? I do Spark delivery in the evenings for extra cash, so I’d hate to miss out if I could drive on it.

One year to the day, I hit 15k miles.

Has anyone here done the OTA update? Came up when I left home today but wanted to find out if it was good to go or if there were any bugs. I got a 22 Comfortline.

Hello everyone! I recently inherited my grandmother's 2011 Tiguan with less than 60k miles that has been meticulously maintained. I'm very grateful, but issues have been popping up in the last thousand miles.

The engine light came on when it had less than a quarter tank of gas, and the code reader reports P025C (Fuel Pump Module Control Circuit Low). I made an appointment, and while waiting, I've gotten alerts like "Check Coolant" when the coolant is at a good level and "Low Oil Pressure." These sensors come on and off, and it's running just fine. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this?

Made the mistake of not listening to the YouTube videos that recommended changing the oil drain plug every oil change. I got 2 changes out of it and the O-ring or plastic must’ve worn out bc it was dripping pretty bad after I changed my oil. Kinda ridiculous that VW makes plastic oil pans and drain plugs.

Is there a way to pop out the rear bumper reflector without taking out the bumper?
I heard you can do it by reaching under and removing the clips.
I can reach under but cannot see inside. Anyone have a pic of what these clips look like and how to remove them

Hoping another owner in the community has solved this because it is driving me insane.

I just got a 2026 Tiguan SE R Line US version and my Digital Cockpit center cluster is completely stuck displaying this message: "Your smartphone's navigation app is not providing a map. Route guidance is not active."
I am on an iPhone using CarPlay.

I have already gone through all the standard troubleshooting steps to try and fix it:
Running an active turn by turn route in native Apple Maps.
Took my phone off Low Power Mode.
Confirmed Precise Location is ON for Apple Maps.
Performed a hard reset on the main infotainment screen.
Plugged directly into the USB data port with an official cable instead of wireless CarPlay.

Still nothing. The Digital Cockpit screen refuses to pull the map visual or turn directions from my phone.

Has anyone with a 2026 US Tiguan actually gotten CarPlay maps to project onto the Digital Cockpit? Is this a known firmware bug that needs a dealer software update or just not possible because I don’t have built in GPS , or is there some hidden toggle in the new infotainment menus that I missed?

Appreciate any advice or workarounds!

I'm having strange electrical problems (battery charging issues, headlights fluctuating, locks intermittently won't work after shutting off the car, etc) and I'm trying to check my negative cable from the engine to the frame. The Haynes repair manual doesn't seem to mention it at all. Can anybody tell me where to find it in the engine bay? 2.0 TSI engine. ​​​​

Anyone on here recently purchase Drive Easy coverage for their Tiguan OUT of factory warranty? I just got my first quote from the local dealership and don't know how much they inflated it.

Hey there, so I am not new to VW and despite how much I complain about little things I still love my car. I have a 2022 Tiguan SEL R-Line that just reached 80k miles. Along with the expensive maintenance at this mileage, I also need new tires and bushings. It got me looking into trading for a newer car and now... I am test driving one today.

My budget isn't really working for a brand new car these days, and I will not buy a used VW, but I found one with low mileage and its CPO so will have that great warranty which is what I really want!

I really liked having the SEL trim, but the R-Line black is what I originally wanted (and never could get my hands on in 2022) but I am just looking for some feedback. Will it feel like a downgrade coming from SEL or not at all?

I really love the look of my 22 but I just fear I will be doing nothing but sinking money into it at this point, and I already am suffering form oil consumption issues and well out of warranty. I just don't want to deal with the headache coming sooner or later. My start/stop also has been recently acting finicky and its an annoyance if I forget to disable it every time.

TL;DR: Tell me about your thoughts and experiences with the 2025 R-Line black Model please! Known issues for his particular year? Things I should check? Should I run from a CPO from VW or is it just as good warranty wise? Is the engine any better or worse compared to what I have currently or any major upgrades/downgrades I would be getting?

I have a very - very short duration trip, like 3 minutes through a strictly residential street in which I need to transport four children. All of whom require some form of car seat/booster. Can anyone tell me how the OCS system works? I need to disable to front air bag but don't quite know how the sensor reads a person in the seat.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Having a child in the front seat is not even remotely something I'd normally do but for reasons I'd rather not discuss I have no choice.

It’s been 96° in my part of California for the past month and the AC has been great until this past week we experienced it took much longer to get ice cold than it typically does, I’m the son of a auto repair shop owner so I know good air conditioning in VW typically has ice cold systems and the second issue I experienced yesterday while driving on the freeway at a cruising speed of about 75 mph was the ice cold air went away on its own and began to blow a little bit warmer and then about 20 seconds later the ice cold air came back. Anyone experience something similar? What’s interesting is that my part of town was 96 however, I went to go visit family in a different part of the city and it was 104° and much more ice cold in my cabin then it was in my neck of the woods at 96 outside.

I know there are already multiple threads with the same topic, I searched in the sub before posting, and now I know it’s not just me.

But I still want to do my rant: I’m only 55k KM (34k mi) on my Tiguan 2023, and this would be the 2nd time that I need to change all 4 brake pads. It’s ridiculous. After the first time at around 30k I even changed my driving behavior of “engine breaking” instead of applying the break in most down hill driving, and even with that, the dealer wants again $500 worth of work for changing the brake pads. The light/pilot on the dashboard keeps saying to change them. And yes, my brakes make weird noises when I brake.

Im still under warranty in both time (3 years) and kms (100k), so if I go to an independent shot to do the work, my understanding is that I would breach the warranty, since the dealer will definitely know that they didn’t do the change. But im sure an independent shop would most likely charge less.

I don’t even care if I use a “non approved” brand of pads, what does it matter if the originals will wear so quickly anyways?

That’s my rant. Are there more of you frustrated with this too?
