I've been building a small web app called PressClass that generates structured TEFL worksheets from real news articles. It's in early development and I'd love feedback from this community.

How it works:

1. Paste a URL from BBC, Guardian, Reuters, etc.

2. Pick a level (A2–C1)

3. About 30 seconds later you get a PDF with: comprehension questions (T/F/NM), key vocabulary with matching gap-fill, a language focus section, discussion prompts, and a writing task

It uses DeepSeek (via API) to generate the content, so it handles a wide range of topics and article lengths. You can assign worksheets to students to keep track of what each student has done, and the article suggestion feature recommends stories based on a student's interests.

Free tier: 5 worksheets/month, all levels A2–C1, unlimited students. No credit card needed.

I built this because I wanted a middle ground between "spend half an hour making a worksheet from scratch" and "buy generic worksheets that don't match the interests of my students."

It's very much an early-stage project — single-server, no payment integration yet other than a Ko-Fi link (if you'refeeling generousand want to help support the running costs), and the free tier is genuinely free. If you try it and something's off (weird vocabulary choices, formatting quirks, missing features), I genuinely want to hear about it. All constructive feedback massively appreciated.

There is a specific reason for asking this which I won't bore you with, and I have researched the topic but come up with nothing on this actual question. As far as I can see there are post-certificate CLIL courses, but is there a 120-hour course (or similar) that does significantly more than acknowledge the existence of this methodology?

I’ve found myself feeling that way more and more over the past few years. There are, of course, plenty of great ESL resources out there, but I often feel like discussion lessons keep coming back to the same topics. It gets a bit stale after a while.

So over the past year, I’ve been building Dialogue & Doubt—a library of discussion-based ESL lessons that use intellectually engaging ideas to help advanced learners develop the language to discuss nuanced topics, defend their opinions, challenge assumptions, and think more critically, all through classroom-ready lessons that are practical to teach.
I’m getting close to launching, but before I do I’d really like feedback from experienced teachers.

Right, so I did my bachelor's and then master's in linguistics. I did two low-level university admin work and, while some of it was alright, I didn't like being on the computer all day and not socializing or using my degrees directly. Also, commuting for over two hours per day and being forced to sit at my desk more or less the entire time sucked. I want to get some of my time back if possible.

I first started doing online TEFL certification during my first university admin job. I got frustrated because it seemed like I'd be doing a crapton of work for garbage pay.

During my second university admin job, I got offered a position to do some EAL teaching for three two-hour lessons per week. It was pretty good actually. After that term position ended (I didn't speak the native language of the learners, so they wanted someone else), I went back and did the online TEFL certification. Now I'm doing the practicum, and I'm almost done it actually.

However, I hate the way that most (?) EAL teachers handle grammar. My impression is that, instead of teaching students how to manipulate language, they just present templates and make them use those. While I see there being utility in templates for lower-level students to get them to speak, at some point, it's probably a good idea to teach students how to take any statement and turn it into a yes-no question or how to take any affirmative statement and negate it, all without using these templates.

Also, lots of the technical terms that they use are straight-up wrong, e.g., possessive adjectives for words that are not adjectives at all.

If I had more freedom in what I taught, this wouldn't be an issue. I'd make my own lessons or curriculum and then students interested in it would take the courses. I'm not sure how feasible this is.

I feel so cheated and helpless. I was told that, if I got an education and did well, things would work out. Now I feel like an idiot.

Also, I'd rather stay in my home city in Canada rather than move elsewhere. We get people from other countries, so there are lots of learners of English here. I'm also a native speaker of English.

Any ideas?
