Best laptop around £800/1k for Online Poker software and genealogy research
Sorry for the vagueness but I really don't have a clue when it comes to technology.
I run around 4-8 poker tables at any one time most evenings and I'm researching genealogy so usually have 10+ browser tabs open and multiple spreadsheets.
I know I don't want a screen any smaller than 15" and I think I'm leaning towards Windows? But besides that I have no idea where to start looking and I'm getting quite overwhelmed when I try 😅
Any advice would be much appreciated please! Thanks in advance

keybbooardd issuues
hi there! i have a ddell g7 7700 gammminng laptop on windows 11 andd am having ann issuue with the keybbooardd that seemingly cropped up out of nowhere
it is extremely agitating when im trying to write things, or even play games as sometimes my D key straight up does not work, i am leaving the typos my keyboard causes to get my point across. my laptop was not dropped or momved.
i am rather confident that the keybooard is nont dirty as i tend to keep it pretty clean. the double/triple/etc key pressig doesnt happen all the time. the keys either double/triple press or do not work at all (I have noticedd sometimes when im holding my shift key to capitalize a letter the key will refuse to put the input in until i type a different letter and then backspace). it feels completely randdom, i dont know how to fix it and i just want it to go back to normal
is there advice??? a fix??? anything i can do thats not having to constantly rely on a controller for my games or having to hook a usb keyboardd to my laptop???

KVM switch for a MacBook, Huawei connected toThinkVision Monitors
Hi I currently have 2 ThinkVision A16270QP1 monitors and would like a KVM switch that I can use for both my work laptop (M4 2025 MacBook Air) and my personal laptop (Huawei Matebook X Pro MACH-W29.
My current docking station only displays on one of the monitors when connected to my MacBook. I also have to unplug and replug laptops when I switch.
I'm honestly unsure where to even start looking. Would Minisopuru MK808M be a good option?

Which TV should I get? LG or Hisense
The Hisense I'm looking at is the 43in 4k QLED Smart TV for $795 (NZD) or the LG 43in NU85 AI 4k LED Smart TV 2026 for $740 (NZD)?
I plan on using it for gaming and movies. The games are GTAV and GTAVI, Assassin's Creed franchise, Zelda franchise, Spryo, Red Dead and other similar games.
I will be using it with the LG S20A 2.0CH Sound Bar w/ Dolby Digital.

Cheapest Phone to Run an App
Hey Everyone,
I hope this post is allowed. I am trying to create a new account on a gaming app after my account was incorrectly closed.
The app requires iOS 16.01 or later. I’ve only had Apple so I don’t know what is required for other phones.
I don’t need a new phone or it to do anything other than turn, connect to WiFi and run the his app.
Are the StraightTalk ones from Walmart able to do this? Can you essentially use it as an iPod to get the app to run? Or should I look for the cheapest unlocked phone on eBay?

Hello!! Im a second year university student and im thinking of expanding my tech since i currently only have an iPad. Would it be more worth it to get a macbook neo or the imac mini? I already have a keyboard and monitor so its really just buying the actual computer. Both are around the same price (mac neo 599 and imac mini at 699) Im a Marine Sciences major with minors in earth science and bioinformatics. What would be more worth it in the long run?

Replace my Macbook or Buy an iPad?
Hello! I am about to start a grad program and was offered a $750 technology stipend. I currently have a Macbook Air M1 (2020). It is starting to slow down, but I don't have any real problems with it. In grad school, I'll be using it for the basics (email, writing, streaming), as well as some small stats packages.
I could use this $750 stipend for one of two things:
1) Purchase an iPad. I think this would be very helpful, given the amount of reading / note-taking I'll be doing in the program. It would effectively be 100% covered by my technology stipend.
2) Replace my Macbook. I don't need a new one at this point, but it would be an insurance policy — in case my current device kicks the can within the next few years.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!

I'm making an overcomplicated cosplay with many electrical elements.
Not my art, not my exact goal either.
I'm making a Warhammer 40k tech priest as a cosplay, and I'm filling it with as much working tech as possible as a personal project to learn how to do lots of stuff.
So far, I want to put in:
• a cooling system with a water cooled vest
• filtered air ventilation
• cameras at all four cardinal directions
• working claw arm
• various lights
• mini PC to control parts and read vitals
• charging system that can plug into a standard power outlet
• various others that I have not thought of yet
I'm not quite sure where to start as far as powering this thing. Would making all the components first and then working out a power supply be a better route to take? Or do I start from the power supply and work my way up from there? I also need some help with batteries and such. I'd like to keep weight down somewhat, but I'm not super concerned because I'm making passive exo-legs which will help handle the weight.
I am a bit dumb with electronics and such, hence why I'm doing this cosplay; so I may learn some of these skills for future projects. Any constructive input or criticism is appreciated and encouraged.
No I will not simplify it. Yes it will take a while. I welcome the challenge.

Thinking of getting a thinkpad for school, music, and OBD 2 compatibility
Hello, i have just graduated highschool and I plan to go to college for mechanical engineering, i want a laptop for school and have been thinking of getting a thinkpad. I like how customizable and reliable they are and they seem really cool to me, i also have heard they are better than MACs for CAD, so thats one reason, another is that im a very big car nerd and love working on my car, and having windows is way better for OBD 2 compatibility than MacOS. Also i have been playing guitar for 2 years and would like to buy an audio interface and use the laptop as a digital amp on occasion. What model do you reccomend i buy? If even a thinkpad at all or should i get a different brand? Any advice helps thank you
Edit: budget is about $1.5k - 2k

Graphics drivers stops responding on Intel Graphics 2500
Now before telling my problem I want to tell that I already have a modern system with modern software. This device is not connected to the internet, I know that it's not modern. I am writing here because I couldn't find a better place for EOL systems.
So I have a machine which has a 3rd gen Intel Core i5. It has Windows 7 on it (yeah I know it's dead but this is an old system for nostalgic purposes) and the graphics driver keeps crashing when I open a game (SuperTuxKart for example) After freezing and a black screen the game crashes and there is a message saying "The graphics driver has stopped responding and recovered" or something like that. I tried everything, reinstalling drivers and Windows, updating to the latest version of drivers, changing BIOS settings, adding TdrDelay to the registry but nothing could solve my problem. The RAM and SSD is ok (I tested them) I don't know what else to do. Here is the specifications of the system I have:
Generic H61 motherboard
One 4GB DDR3-1333 and one 4GB DDR3-1600 RAM
Intel i5-3470
Intenso 120GB SSD
(no discrete graphics card)
Thanks for any response

Am I screwed?
Okay so yesterday I downloaded Eden and got a rom of smash bros ultimate, I was running it in the background whilst getting some chores done and whilst it was running my Instagram got hacked into without it informing me, it uploaded something about crypto and Elon musk, so I quickly changed my password, ran to my gaming laptop and closed eden and deleted my history and all my cookies, downloaded malware bytes it detected 16 Trojans, and I quickly quarantined and removed them, but later that night I checked on task manager and other parts of the computer that hadn't been scanned and saw 2 unknown json files and a data file that is currently running, this morning I got an email that my Instagram was locked due to suspicious activity, is my best bet to just start over and wipe the computer? Please if anyone is of any help I need it, I'm really scared and don't know what to do

Anyone know how I can get the Symbol PCK9130 connected to the Spectrum24 Access point?
I got the scanner from a Kmart when it went out of business. The Access point however, I got off Ebay.
According to the manual for the PCK, I should be able to open it up in putty through the auxiliary port to see the settings but i get nothing.
I’ve tested all 49 Frequency Hopping possibilities and with each one the access point does receive something from the PCK but they never actually associate with each other. All the setting cause CRS errors but some cause more than others.
I’m thinking it never associates completely because it doesn’t have the correct Net ID (ESS ID). I have it set to 65535 which should allow the access point to accept all ess id’s, but I think the PCK will only associate with a Specific Net ID
