My TEAS Success Story TEAS Study Guide: How I scored a 90% on the TEAS

My TEAS Score Breakdown

Comprehensive: 90%
Reading: 90%
Math: 89%
Science: 87%
English: 94%

I'm particularly an A+ student but I did manage to score high on the TEAS with this strategy. For the schools I am applying to, it is way above their average.

I work part time, but I managed to adjust my work schedule to dedicate ample time to studying, though I recognize this isn't feasible for everyone. With that being said, this test is important for your future and you will have to make personal sacrifices for a little while in order to study for this test. For a month straight, I only worked and I studied. I didn't watch tv, I didn't socialize, and I only rested one day per week. Was it rough? A bit but not the end of the world. I studied for 4 weeks. I was studying for about 2 hours each day, 6 days a week for four weeks.

Below is my ATI TEAS study guide. This is how I studied for the ATI TEAS.

1. Become familiar with all the TEAS topics

It's crazy to me how many people don't know the specific topics asked on the TEAS. The TEAS isn't just science, math, english, and reading. You need to know WHAT within those topics is asked. OK say 'algebra' is asked on the TEAS.... but what about algebra is asked? What specific topics? Quadratic formula, pythagorean theorem, what is it?

Here is a list of topics asked on the TEAS test.

2. Decide how many 2 hour TEAS prep sitdowns you will have between now and test day.

I was studying for about 2 hours each day, 6 days a week for four weeks so in total I had twenty four 2 hour sitdowns before the day of the test. I also did some extra studying during work breaks and such but I count those as extra bonus studying. I didn't want to rely on them as a measurement of my TEAS prep.

3. Look at the list of topics in step #1 and assign topics to each 2 hour block. For example:

2 Hour Block Date Topics to be studied
Monday, January 1st - after work READING: Know how to summarize a multi-paragraph text; know how to make inferences and draw conclusions about a text's purpose and meaning; know how to locate specific information in a text; know how to interpret events in a sequence.
Tuesday, January 2nd - before work Science: general orientation of human anatomy; anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system; anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; anatomy and physiology of the digestive system.
Wednesday, January 3rd Science: Describe cell structure, function, and organization; relationship between genetic material and the structure of proteins; Apply concepts underlying Mendel's laws of inheritance.

Complete this table for all your study blocks between now and test day. Assign 3-4 study topics to each 2 hour block. After filling out this table, you will realize there isn't enough time to study all the topics asked on the test. You will then have to make the decision of you need to add more study time or you need to leave topics out. I was studying for a month straight and I felt like that was already a lot. I ended up leaving out some topics I was already strong on e.g. acids and bases, and the scientific method. You might need to do something like this.

4. Find the TEAS prep that works best for you

I adhered to my study schedule and used different sources to study different topics. For example, let's say I was studying on the cardiovascular system. I would just open up my TEAS prep resources and studied up on what they had about that topic e.g. cardiovascular system

Study Resources Utilized:

Review of Study Materials:

I liked them all, tbh. Each of them had their strengths and weaknesses so that's why I think you should use multiple teas prep sources.

Final tips

  • Endure through the pain of studying. Self care is great but self care wasn't gonna get me to nursing school. Of course, within limit. I was still sleeping 9 hours every night. I just cut out time for tv, tik tok, and friends for just a month. My life was work, school, and eating lol
  • Go on walks and runs to clear your brain. I did this a few times and it felt great.
  • Remember you are smart and you can do this and more.

I figured I'd make a post to give back since this sub helped me so much during my TEAS prep.

For some context, I had been out of school for about 3 years before taking the exam. I studied for a little over 8 weeks while working full-time. On weekends, I studied pretty much 8 AM–10 PM both Saturday and Sunday.
The biggest resource for me was Nurse Cheung. I bought her study guides, watched every live session on YouTube and TikTok, and even paid for access to the replays. I also used ChatGPT to generate mock practice questions, which was great for reinforcing concepts. I put all the study guides into AI and had it create me an 8 week study plan based on my timing allowance, which was great because it gave me focused studying.

I took ATI Practice Test A and B:
Practice Test A: 88%-1 week before exam
Practice Test B: 92%- 3 days before exam

I felt the practice exams were slightly easier than the real exam, but they gave me a pretty accurate idea of where I stood and what needed some more reinforcement.

Overall, I thought the exam was very straightforward.

Math: I didn't get any formulas given to me, so definitely memorize the formulas ahead of time. I saw questions involving:
Pythagorean theorem
Area and perimeter
Radius, diameter, and circumference
Distance
Percent increase/decrease

Science: This section was very broad. Make sure you know all the body systems, and expect some chemistry mixed in. Nothing felt overly obscure, but it covered a wide range of topics.

Reading & English: Both were fair. The reading passages were straightforward. Know your punctuation rules, grammar, and be comfortable reading and understanding longer passages.

Trust your first instinct. I wouldn't recommend changing answers unless you're certain. The calculator is pretty laggy, so don't rely on it for every little calculation if you can do the math mentally.

Hopefully this helps someone who's stressing about the exam. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'm happy to help. Good luck to everyone taking the TEAS!

TEAS Prep Please Help PLEASE

Hello All! I’m just needing some advice on how to study for the TEAS. I’m trying to apply to the nursing program. I already have all my classes BUT the expire soon being this is the only community college that accepts prerequisites 10 years out all the other colleges are only 5. I originally took the TEAS in 2019 and passed with a 60%. For hygiene 50% was all that was needed without studying. However I retook the TEAS with studying in Feb 2026 and got a 60%. The same score. I’m aiming for 85% as the TEAS is the last thing I need before getting into the nursing program for Spring 2027. For this particular college every section has to be 60% to be considered and 80% to even be looked at. I used the official ATI TEAS studying tests and book that’s all. I currently do work a full time job as a dental hygiene as well so some other resources and a set up study schedule with working would be great for advice and tips thank you.

TEAS Prep 90.7% on my first attempt: my resources

I got a 90.7% on my first TEAS attempt recently. My resources and tips:

*disclaimer: I already have a degree so took my nursing prereqs out of order. I’ve recently completed A&P 1 and 2, MicroBio, bio and am now finishing my summer semester of chem 1. Having taken all of my heavy science classes before my teas really helped. I also have a masters in a math adjacent field*

Overall: used Tyler Dwight over Nurse Cheung videos. Nurse Cheung did not go into near enough details as needed and I found it difficult to retain.

MATH 94%
Topics I saw A LOT of: fractions. SO MANY FRACTIONS. A lot of improper ones. Also, geometry as the challenge questions. A few ordering. Inequality questions.
-review adding, subtracting, multiplying fractions in different forms
- know basic metric to US conversions
- know triangle and circle area and related formulas.
I used Tyler Dwight’s videos which really helped me
- I completed the entire Mometrixs math section. Mometrix can go into too much detail sometimes, but found it helpful for math.
- lots of practice questions of varying difficulty .
- I actually ran out of time, so just went with my gut instinct for the last 4 questions.

READING 100%
- lots of practice is my only tip for this.
- I did the entire Mometrix section of reading. This helped me understand the style of questions.
- when taking this section, read the question first THEN skim the passages looking for what the question is asking about.
- try not to second guess. Read the question CAREFULLY and answer strictly on what the passage provides, use no outside knowledge of the subject it’s asking

SCIENCE 82%
- topics seen: LOTS OF DNA AND BIO, some moderately harder chem, not as much anatomy as expected.
- tbh not as high as I hoped, but I know why. I focused too much on anatomy review and did not review bio or DNA as much as I should have.
- definitely know your hormones and what secretes them/where stored
- know digestive system and the juices where stored and what the do (what breaks down protein, etc)
- I used Tyler Dwight anatomy questions and reviews the SPECIFIC sections that were my weaknesses in Mometrix. I didn’t even try to read the whole science section of Mometrix, but just the sections over my weak areas.
- practice, practice, practice.

ENGLISH 87%
- this section definitely is a silent killer. It was HARD for me.
- topics: verb agreement, tenses. Some prefix
- Tyler Dwight’s English review helped me INCREDIBLY. Also nurse cheungs English review was decent for a quick overview and Tyler’s solidified things for me.
- Mometrix English practice test was great too. I second guessed myself a lot in this chapter, which I think was my downfall

Overall:
- I honestly hit a WALL after the math section and got very tired which I think is the reason my scores dipped.
- I used my entire time each section, so the test took my about 4 hours. I didn’t do enough practice tests to get used to the timing, which I think really ultimately negatively affected my scores. So do a lot of practice tests just to get used to the timing and pace of the test.
- I lightly reviewed for a month but really hit it hard for 1.5/2 weeks before my actual test. HOWEVER, I would recommend more intensive studying periods if you have not completed more science classes yet. ESPECIALLY if you haven’t taken anatomy 2 yet. There was FAR MORE anatomy 2 vs anatomy 1 on this test.

Please do not burn yourself out.

For those who are pushing themselves above and beyond for this test, it's okay to take breaks in between. I wish I saw this type of post while doing TEAs prep myself because I was pushing myself beyond my limit. The only thing that got me to relax was my sister who told me a person with an 80 can be admitted as well. I highly reccomend NOT studying the day before the TEAs, just because the worst thing you can do to yourself is take the TEAs burnt out. Build up your energy to be able to catch all the tricky TEAs word traps, because most of the time we know the stuff but fall for the tricks.

My study timeline was spread across two weeks, but I only pushed myself in the first week. The second week was just consistent review and patching up my weak spots. I did just finish my prereqs so that gave me the upper hand, but I feel like anyone can do this with the right prep material (my professors were not very helpful).

My score was a 92.

You'll do great. Take a walk, interact with others, and allow yourself to live during this stressful time. <3

Need advice asap - need 75 in reading….

Hi! This might sound silly but I need a 75 or above in English and a 65 or above overall

I am currently taking A&P1. I feel confident in every subject but haven’t studied English or Reading. On a side note, I graduated with a bachelors in Communications 10 years ago and this is my second go-round of college

I am not picky at my score - my college doesn’t care how high the score is, I just need 65 or above overall and 75 or above in English. Should I try to squeeze in my exam before my deadline of Aug 1? Or should I take my time and study for the Nov 1 deadline?

As mentioned, a higher score doesn’t matter this is a lottery system to get into Nursing once I pass the teas and my gpa is a 4.0.

Thanks guys

Is the official ATI TEAS flashcard bank any good?

Hey guys, just wondering for those who have taken the teas already and used the ATI TEAS app, is it any accurate to the actual test? I know many people say they felt underprepared using the ATI official study guide and was wondering if it was the same for their flashcard bank.

My TEAS Success Story First-Time TEAS Score After Being Out of School for 10 Years! My Honest Resource Reviews (92%)

Thumbnail gallery
65 Upvotes

I was so incredibly nervous to take the TEAS after being out of school for an entire decade! I decided to make a career change and go back to school to pursue nursing after realizing my first bachelor’s degree just wasn’t working out the way I had hoped in this job market. About four months ago, I finally admitted to myself that nursing was where my heart truly was, and I poured every ounce of my anxious energy into making that transition happen.

Naturally, hearing that I had to take another standardized exam after all these years made me want to pull my hair out. 😅 I had previously taken the MCAT years ago and, unfortunately, wasn’t accepted into medical school. After that, I shifted into medical data analytics and have worked in that field for the past few years. That experience really knocked my confidence, so going into the TEAS, I couldn’t help but fear I’d end up with a similar outcome.

When I finished my exam earlier today and saw my score, I absolutely cried. It wasn’t just about the test—it felt like I finally got a win after so many setbacks and moments where I questioned whether I was capable of starting over. I wanted to share the resources that helped me the most in case it can make someone else’s journey a little less stressful and help you focus on what was actually worth my time.

Mometrix Study Guide & Flash Cards — 6/10
Very detailed, but honestly pretty overwhelming when I was first getting started. I made it through the Reading and Math sections, but after that I couldn’t bring myself to keep reading every page. 😅 I ended up skimming the remaining chapters and focused more on answering the practice questions. Some of the questions felt a little awkwardly phrased compared to the actual TEAS, but it was still an okay resource if you want a lot of detail. However, this study guide derailed my studying by about 3 weeks because it made me feel inadequate. My most impactful studying was probably in the last week before my exam while using other resources.

Mometrix Free Online Practice Exam — 8/10
I actually liked this more than the book. It seemed a bit easier than the material in the study guide, but I felt like it was a decent representation of the actual exam experience and was helpful for building confidence.

Smart Edition Study Guide — 7/10
This was the only study guide I was able to make it all the way through. I really enjoyed the full-color layout and illustrations—it made studying feel much less intimidating. Since I’d been out of school for over 10 years, it was an excellent refresher and helped me rebuild a lot of the foundational concepts. That said, I do think it left out quite a few topics, and some of the concepts that did show up on the TEAS weren’t emphasized enough.

Nurse Cheung Videos — 10/10!!!
AMAZING!! Her teaching style paired with the visuals was absolutely perfect for the way my brain learns. She did such a great job covering all of the major concepts and high-yield topics without making it feel overwhelming.

I actually didn’t discover her channel until about a week before my exam, and finding her videos honestly felt like such a relief. They pulled together so many concepts I had been trying to piece together on my own, and I genuinely attribute a significant part of my preparation to her material. I would have purchased her study guide instead of Mometrix or Smart Edition, but since I found her channel so close to the exam day, I decided to watch her free videos for my first attempt. I fully planned on purchasing her study guide if I needed a second attempt!

Tyler DeWitt Videos — 9.5/10
Such a great resource! I watched several of his YouTube videos where he worked through practice questions and explained his reasoning step by step. I found that incredibly helpful because it taught me how to think through the questions instead of just memorizing facts. His practice questions felt very much in line with the style of questions I saw on the TEAS.

Archer Review Question Bank — 100/10 (The TRUE MVP!)
If I could recommend one resource to everyone taking the TEAS, it would be Archer Review.
The question bank was incredibly similar to the actual exam in both style and difficulty. You get access to over 2,000 questions, and I only used it for about four days before my exam. Even with that, I only made it through roughly 25% of the question bank, and it still made a huge difference. I was consistently scoring around 91% on the simulated tests where they pull up to forty-five questions from the test bank on whichever topics you select. For instance, if you wanted only reading, only math and science, all sections, etc. you could pull from whichever learning objectives you want!

Once you have a solid knowledge base, I truly think practicing questions like these is just as important as studying the content itself. Archer really teaches you how the TEAS asks questions, which was invaluable. Every question comes with detailed rationales for every answer choice, plus background notes that help reinforce the concepts instead of just telling you what’s right or wrong.

The interface is also very similar to the actual TEAS testing platform, so it almost felt like I was taking a mock exam every time I practiced. I seriously cannot recommend it enough. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this resource, and I fully plan on using Archer again for the NCLEX once (hopefully 🤞) I get accepted into nursing school this application cycle!

I hope this helps 💕 best of luck to you all!

Math is my weakest subject

I finally scheduled my exam a month from now. I’ve been studying for 2.5 weeks now and I’ve discovered that math is definitely my weakest subject. I’m usually a logical thinker (I’m great with scientific reasoning) but for some reason I have such a mental block with math. I see a complicated math problem and I immediately panic. It was never my best subject but that’s only been exacerbated by the fact that I’ve taken 1 legit math class in the past 7 years (my high school experience was killed by COVID). Anyone else who really struggled mathematically, how did you study? I’ve been trying BrandonCraft, practicing obviously, and even using my friend as a tutor. What else should I be adding to my routine?

LPN Admissions Question: Retake Statistics or Improve TEAS Score?

Hi! I'm planning to apply to a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program in 2027. I haven't taken the TEAS exam yet, but all of my prerequisite grades are A's and B's except for my statistics class, which I got a C in.

Would you recommend that I retake my statistics class, or should I focus on getting a higher TEAS score instead? If a higher TEAS score would help offset my C in statistics, what TEAS score (or percentage) would give me the best chance of being accepted?

studying tips and resources for teas

Hello everyone, I would really appreciate studying tips and resources for people with ADHD/low processing skills and working memory. I’m currently studying from the ATI TEAS 7 Smart Edition book but the Math section is pretty confusing. I’m taking the TEAS in late August I’m getting pretty nervous because I still haven’t found a routine that works for me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

In-person TEAS vs. Online, and are Practice Tests A & B harder than the real deal?

Hi guys! I’m about to take my TEAS exam in person soon and I was wondering if it’s actually easier than the online version? I’ve had a few people tell me this, but I wanted to see what others think. I’ve taken my past two attempts online (got a 69 on the first and a 77 on the second).
I’ve also been using ATI practice tests A and B and was wondering if those are generally harder than the actual tests? I scored a 67 on A and a 69 on B, but the weird thing is i’m scoring higher on the practice tests in the sections that I scored lower on in the real exam and vice versa. For example on the real exam I got a 50 on science in the practice I got in the 60s and in reading& math on the real exam I got 90s and on the practice tests i’m getting 70s.
Thank you so much in advance for helping me out! Also, if you have any random tips or advice at all, I would appreciate it more than you know!

My TEAS Success Story SCORE IMPROVED

Hello guys, I just want to share my experience. So, I posted here last month that I got 69% in my ATI TEAS, I took it for 3 hours. Then, I took my retake last week and got 85% in 1 hour. I locked in really hard after getting that 69. I don’t have a work, I don’t have a kid so I have all the time to study. I also avoided social media just to lock in for this test.

What happened was that, during my first take, I used the ATI TEAS prep found in the website, I availed the $99 one that already have 2 practice exams, this helped me a lot but the topic in the study guide were too broad, so better buy some other resources which breaks down the topics. And during the exam, I am just in the Math section and some of my fellow test takers are already done and when I just started the Science section, all of my fellow test takers were already done 😭 like FR! so I am so pressured to finish my exam as fast as I could at that time because I am the only one left in the testing center.

When I went home, I didn’t sleep but I studied again but this time, I listened to all of you guys! I watched Nurse Cheung’s tiktok, Brandon for Math, and I literally reviewed all the pages in the Mometrix ATI TEAS.
I answered all the questions, repeated everything, spotted my weakness and when I found out which one was my weakness, I focused in that part. I also made sure that I’ll be done in an hour or two so that I won’t be pressured at the testing center.

And I did! I took my 1st retake in 1hour. I’m glad I made it with all those efforts and such. I just took it in an hour because my resources helped me to find the words, find the clues or hints in the passages and such.

For the Reading, read the question first, then look for the keyword in the passage.
For the Math, familiarize yourself with the trigonometry and geometry formulas, and every formula in Math.
For the Science, familiarize with all the body systems. You don’t have to worry about this if you’ve already taken Anatomy and Physiology.
For the English part, read the question first then look for the keywords that are identical with the questions and answers.

My advice to the future test takers, these are the study materials that helped me with this:
-NurseCheung on Tiktok (there is posted schedule on which subject she would talk about)
-Nurse Cheung on YouTube
-BrandonCraft Math on YouTube
-Archer Review
-Mometrix
-ATI TEAS Basic Package ($99)

Also, I prayed the St. Jude Novena 9 days prior to my exam date and it worked!!
STUDY-REPETITION-PRAY-REPEAT
TO THE FUTURE TEST TAKERS, IF I DID IT, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!! 🥳 Wish you all the best of luck guys!! Here’s ATI PASSING SCORE DUST FOR Y’ALL 🪄🪄

I take my test the 23rd or technically tomorrow haha. I keep scoring low on my mometrix practice tests! 81% math, 70% science and 75% reading. Are these accurate to the actual TEAS? Ugh I felt confident in my knowledge but now I feel defeated because of my low scores. I don’t want to overwhelm myself with new material.

TEAS Tips

Hi!! I took my teas a couple hours ago and scored a 90.7 after 1 week of studying! I would like to say that anyone that is freaking out should take a deep breath because the test isn't necessarily too crazy, but I do think there are certain things you could def watch out for. For reference, I studied for at least 2-8 hours a day. I took a practice test from mometrix to assess my score and was only making a 78.82, with my lowest scores in reading and science. I watched Nurse Cheung's videos over reading, English and all her comprehensive videos for science (a&p, chem, bio--she has a playlist with these that also includes scientific reasoning, potent and la chatelier's principle but I only skimmed those). I would take notes over the whole video and then go back and use active recall by reciting my notes, asking any questions and pretending to teach myself the topic. For math I had a pretty good background, mainly using Brandon Croft videos and actually practicing problems. I would do a practice test every day in the beginning of the week, but towards the end I realized I was burning myself out. I bought the ati practice bundle that included practice test a, b, access to the app and the a&p test. I took practice test b maybe 2 days before the test and was scared when I only made a 76. I didn't even attempt test A after that bc I didn't wanna freak out the day before if I was still scoring low. I took the a&p test twice--first barely going over it and scoring a 65 and second attempting it after going through the test and going through all the notes I took from the Nurse Cheung video and scoring a 92.9. I'd say do practice questions whenever you can!!, I always asked chat gpt and gemini to help break concepts down and give me quizzes to really make sure I accurately understood whichever weaker concepts I was getting wrong! I hope this helps, you will be GREAT!!!
