This is merely an Emacs binding control x control q embedded in a Sway exec command. It toggles the readonly flag of the current buffer. the one you are looking at, maybe editing.

So what? I've got Parkinson's so i am typing with a horde of invisible evil monkeys who just love to sneak in a spurious character at the keyboard, breaking compiles and trashing scripts.

So if i go to another window I can lock the monkeys out. I'm thinking how to tie this in more automatically with Sway, and of course there's a better way everyone knows but me....

I just shifted from i3wm to sway and I've noticed that the file menu never appears from firefox. So for example, when i try to print a webpage to PDF, the menu to select the file destination doesn't appear or when I try to attach files in gmail, the file selection menu doesn't appear.

Do any of you happen to have any thoughts?
Both are installed via pacman on CachyOS

EDIT: Solution! Set widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker from default of 2 to 0

I made greyline, a modern recreation of the old IBM/ThinkPad "World Time" Active Desktop wallpaper showing a world map with clocks for your cities, your home city highlighted, and a day/night terminator that tracks the sun.

I've built it to be Distro/WM/DE agnostic, but posting it here because it should have Sway first class support, as I daily drive Sway and built it with Sway in mind first.

I have this as the given format/config under the rest of my waybar config yet it's still acting like I have it as {dynamic} . I've attempted reloading the config and checking it for errors but everything seems to be correct. Am I missing something because I can't tell what's wrong with it?

Proton vpn gui doesn't work well on sway as if you try to exit the app, it will also terminate the connection. Forcing you to have a dedicated window just for it to work.

Any ideas for a solution or just deal with it and just give it its own window?

Update: Chatgpt told me to use wireguard, is this method much better?

Another Update: The comment made more sense as with wireguard no gui, no connect to fastest server, no kill switch, and much more.

This is I suppose my "anti-rice" Sway setup. Nothing fancy or colorful, just as simple as I can make it. No backgrounds, few colors, clean and simple. Pay no attention to fastfetch saying my Ryzen 7 3700x is running at 4.98Ghz, I just have a slight OC to 4.01Ghz but fastfetch always shows it at 4.98.

Swaybar with i3status-rust, not much else when it comes to UI. I'll answer any questions anyone has about it.

The last 2 attempts to attach the image failed (I don't know either). It is a WIP.

Unlike most, I opted to base it off the 2077 UI, rather than the in-game aesthetics. The wofi replicates the breach protocol minigame, and the top bar replicates the main menu.

I tried to keep it as accurate as possible whilst preserving usability.

Once it is finished, I will provide the dots for anyone interested in the comments. Unsure how long that will take.

I've been holding off on using Sway for a couple of years now since I felt like Wayland wasn't fully ready.

However, I'm stating to have some annoying issues with i3 that I can't figure out how to fix, so I'm thinking of just moving to Sway on a fresh config.

How is Sway nowadays? Is it fully ready to use, or are there some annoying issues with it as well? Does screen sharing work?
