Developer announcement The first trailer for my game, BALSEO: A Stealth Adventure in a Dark Mythological World

BALSEO: The Sea Beyond combines the tactical planning of Commandos with the immersion of classic Zelda adventures, all wrapped in an unsettling world with a Dredge-like aesthetic.

You embody the Tempilcahue, the mythical ferryman of souls. A powerful sorcerer has invaded your dimension, capturing the souls transitioning to the afterlife. Venture into the fog, face the unknown, forge unlikely alliances, and discover how to guide the souls to their final destination.

I'm an indie dev and a huge fan of stealth games. I’m working on this with no budget or publisher, just pure passion. We will be releasing a demo soon, so adding the game to your Steam Wishlist would help me out immensely!

Discussion In 2026, How well does Batman Arkham Asylum hold up??

Thumbnail

Simple question

I had the urge to go back and replay this game after having many conversations with folk who don’t seem to hold this game in super high regard anymore…. So even say it’s bad! Which is crazy to me! But I kinda just wanted to see what opinions for this game I like right now, so for you, how well does Arkham asylum hold up??

For me ?? it’s a little dated in some area sure, and has things that aren’t the best when compared to the newer games…. But I’m still thoroughly impressed. How well the combat, stealth, and especially the atmosphere hold up! Especially for a game that released in 2009!

But how about you?? How does Batman Arkham asylum hold up in 2026??

Discussion What makes mgs Vs ai so advanced in your opinion?

So I'm trying to recreate the smart AI for my game, and would love some feedback on what ai reactions and actions are important for y'all!

Is it the reactiveness after each level e.g enemies wearing helmets

Is it enemies changing patrol routes and swapping shifts

Is it the tacticalness when the enemies attack ?

Review My Review of Styx: Blades of Greed

IMO Styx: Blades of Greed being open-world was a step in the wrong direction. Initially, I thought open-world could be a good idea but having played all Styx games other than OOAM, I thought the open-world was bland and uninspired.

1 - There's very little to do in the Styx open world besides collect tokens and runes.

2 - The levels felt uninspired and bland. It felt like they just built massive levels that are big but empty and boring.

3 - I honestly feel as thought Styx Shards of Darkness had much better level design than BoG.

4 - Giving Styx a grappling hook and a massive map makes the game too easy because you can grappling hook you're way out of a lot of situations and it doesn't take skill to use and most enemies can't really hit you if you grappling hook above them.

5 - The story was mostly bland outside a little bit of Styx's background and Orc culture being unveiled.

6 - Every open-world area you get dropped into, you get some new gimmick tool to try out, but it's not a game changer it's just a transversal

7 - Styx needed a better side quest system other than the runes, tokens.

8 - No new game + system

I think that it comes down to the devs being asked to whip together a triple A open-world game on a single A budget. I'd still recommend Shards of Darkness for stealth players, but honestly Styx should focus more on gameplay, and better story writing than gimmick tools, and open-world design.

Should I buy it?

I like the stealth and puzzle genres. Is that enough for me to enjoy playing Metal Gear and buy it while it's on sale on the PSN Store? Never played any of those games before. I would like to try them.

Discussion Need your help to avoid making “just another stealth game

Hey all, I’m working on a stealth game , think more atmospheric, narrative-driven stealth in the vein of A Plague Tale than pure tactical/gadget-heavy stuff like Splinter Cell.

Before I get too deep into design decisions, I wanted to get some real opinions from people who actually play a lot of these.

Three questions, feel free to answer any or all:

**1. What do you love in a stealth game?** Specific mechanics, moments, systems , whatever makes you go “yes, this is why I play this genre.

2. What do you hate, or what always breaks the experience for you? Could be AI behavior, UI stuff, pacing, forced stealth sections, anything.

3. What feels overdone or saturated at this point? Mechanics or tropes you’re tired of seeing recycled.

Thanks in advance, genuinely trying to make something that respects the genre instead of just copying it.

Stealth games with dagger

Looking for good stealth games where i sneak with dagger. I don't really like guns so thats lot less stealth games.

My favorite series are Dishonored and Styx.

I have played splinter cells, metal gear solid, thief, elder scrolls and assassin's creed games.

Review Years later, I finally played Manhunt—and I'm surprised by how tense and unapologetic it still feels.

I went into Manhunt expecting a controversial relic that had aged poorly. Instead, I found one of the most tense and atmospheric stealth games I've ever played. The game doesn't rely on jump scares or supernatural elements. Its horror comes from feeling hunted, hiding in the shadows, and knowing that one mistake can turn the tables instantly. The gritty presentation, disturbing atmosphere, and emphasis on stealth create an experience that still feels unique today.

Despite all the controversy surrounding it, Manhunt deserves credit for how effectively it builds tension and commits to its vision. There really aren't many games quite like it anymore. Both the parts are equally insane and nerve racking.

For those who've played it, how do you think Manhunt has aged?

Discussion Mixing Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell's stealth with Resident Evil's zombies: a twist on the stealth genre or potentially frustrating?

I've been working on a stealth survival horror game for 4 months now in Godot. I believe certain elements evoke the likes of Dead Space and Alien Isolation, neither of which I've played, but my primary influences are Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, and Splinter Cell.

The base gameplay is a mix of MGS and SC. In MGS3, you have a camo index that determines how visible you are to enemies based on factors like stance (standing makes you more visible than crouching or prone) and movement. My main way of reducing visibility is not choosing a camo that matches the surface you're on, but rather Thief and SC's system of hiding in the shadows.

The earlier MSX Metal Gear games involved exploring an interconnected map and overcoming previous obstacles with items you found elsewhere, which overlaps with Resident Evil.

Another influence from RE2 remake will be the zombies. Stealth games can feel repetitive once you learn to exploit the enemies, so my game will include zombie-like robot enemies that are hard to predict with the way they sway while moving, varying levels of health, and how they play dead. Enemies rush to grab you instead of shooting you when spotted. If you get grab, you either use a limited defensive item (like RE2 remake) or mash a button to escape (like other RE games), allowing the player to choose between expending a limited resource or taking damage to save it. Instead of a degrading knife, you have a slowly recharging laser cutter to help deal with grabs or finish off downed enemies. It could also be used to open vents at the cost of increased visibility.

That's what will tie everything together: limited resources. Metal Gear popularized the term "on-site procurement" where you start with nothing and slowly find more resources as you progress. Having OSP in my game would force players to be more careful with expending resources. Do you use your ammo to shoot out a light or an enemy? Do you use your degradable suppressor or remove it and risk being heard if enemies are nearby? They won't respawn like in Metal Gear, so be careful.

What are your thoughts on this mixture of genres and games? Is it unique enough or are there any games that already do this?

Are there any specific design concerns that I should be aware of?

  • Does having fast-rushing melee enemies make traditional "stealth evasion" too frustrating compared to enemies with guns?
  • Does a slowly recharging melee tool ruin the tension of limited resources, or does it work as a necessary "last resort" fallback?

I honestly think The Last of Us Part I & II are the best stealth games ever made

I know most people probably wouldn’t even put The Last of Us in the same category as Splinter Cell, Thief, Hitman or Metal Gear, but after replaying both games I genuinely think the stealth is better than in any of them.

A big part of it is the resource scarcity. The games don’t force you to use stealth, but they constantly give you reasons to. Ammo is limited, crafting materials are limited, silencers break, arrows can disappear. You can go in shooting, but there’s always that thought in the back of your head that you might really need those bullets later.

I’m currently doing a playthrough where I try to take down as many enemies as possible with bricks, bottles and my fists, and it’s honestly some of the most fun I’ve had with the game. A brick isn’t just a distraction. You can stun someone with it, rush them, throw it at another enemy, use the chaos to escape, or turn the whole encounter into a messy fistfight.

That’s probably my favourite thing about the stealth in these games: your approach is heavily influenced by whatever you happen to have in your backpack at that moment.

Sometimes you have arrows, a silenced pistol and enough crafting materials to clear an area without anyone noticing. Ten minutes later you’re out of everything and have to come up with something completely different. Maybe you sneak past half the enemies. Maybe you lure two of them into the same place with a bottle. Maybe you deliberately start a fight because there’s no realistic way to quietly kill everyone.

The game keeps pushing you out of your usual routine.

I also really like how low-tech everything feels. Listen Mode obviously gives you an advantage, but it still fits the world much better than having drones, cameras, enemy markers and a minimap full of icons. You get a vague idea of where someone is, but you still have to pay attention to footsteps, voices and movement.

The enemy AI is a huge part of it too. They spread out, search rooms, check hiding places, call out your last known position and keep looking for a surprisingly long time. It often feels like they’re actually trying to find you rather than just running through a short “alert” animation before going back to normal.

They also behave differently depending on what weapons they have. Someone with a melee weapon might suddenly rush you when you think you’re safe, while enemies with guns are more likely to stay in cover, flank you or try to keep you pinned down.

And they have actual personality. They talk to each other, call each other by name, react when they find a body and sometimes sound genuinely scared. It makes a massive difference. You’re not just clearing a room full of anonymous guards.

Something else I don’t see mentioned enough is how much the different enemy senses affect your tactics.

Clickers can’t see, but they hear almost everything. Dogs can follow your scent. Stalkers are so quiet and unpredictable that Listen Mode often isn’t much help. Then the game starts mixing those enemy types together, so suddenly you’re not only thinking about lines of sight. You’re thinking about sound, smell, movement and which enemy is capable of noticing what.

That makes the encounters feel much less repetitive than they probably should.

The games also keep adding little twists. Sometimes there’s a sniper covering the whole area. Sometimes an armoured vehicle is hunting you. Sometimes infected appear in the middle of a fight with humans and the entire situation changes. Even when the basic mechanics stay the same, the circumstances keep changing.

And then there’s the atmosphere, which is probably impossible to separate from the gameplay.

The human enemies often feel more threatening to me than the infected because they’re so similar to the player. They’re scared, desperate and trying to survive, and they’re using the same kind of improvised tactics you are. It doesn’t feel like sneaking through a level full of guards. It feels like being hunted by other survivors.

The ruined buildings, overgrown streets, abandoned homes and all those little notes you find also give the locations a sense of history. You understand what happened there, who lived there and how everything fell apart. It makes the world feel like an actual place instead of a series of stealth arenas.

Other stealth games like MGSV or Dishonored are also really really good. But none of them combine improvisation, resource management, enemy behaviour, atmosphere and tension this well.

At least for me, nothing else comes close.

[PC][2025-2026] demo hitman game on roblox

Graphics/art style: it wasnt your standard roblox charecters. the player was blocky but smooth like unturned but even more smoother.

Notable characters: a man in a van talks to you before your mission.

Notable gameplay mechanics: single player infiltarting a mansion with a silencer. since stealth is an option there are cameras you have to take out and you have to start the power up in the house.

Other details: before the main mission you are given an intro and follow a guy to his flat room. the game was in demo at the time i played it
