Baseball Reference Inviting Beta Testers for new Baseball Simulation World

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello baseball fans!

My name is Jody Roberts, and I'm a baseball fan, data scientist, software engineer, and creator of **Internet League Baseball** (ILB).

I’m preparing to open beta testing for ILB, and I’m looking for baseball fans who would be willing to try it and provide honest feedback.

ILB is an online baseball universe built around simulation, strategy, statistics, live games, announcer commentary, and persistent league history. ILB supports multiple leagues and different ways to participate, including following games as a fan, managing a team, running a league, or taking control during live gameplay. Follow your favorite teams and get notified when they're playing, or make the playoffs for a league season!

Two major goals of ILB were to create a human-realistic announcer voice commentary, and to produce games and statistics that feel believable and internally consistent. Every game leaves a trace. We've done lots of testing and simulations, but human baseball fans notice things that test suites don't. That is where beta testers can make a real difference.

You don't need to be a developer or commit to a huge testing project. I'm looking for people who can spend a little time exploring the site, listening to or playing a game, reviewing the statistics, and telling me what feels right, wrong, confusing, or interesting.

If you enjoy baseball statistics, simulation games, fantasy leagues, or examining how baseball systems work, I'd love to hear from you.

If you're interested, reply to this post or email me directly at **[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])**. I'll give you a short checklist to follow, or not, if it helps you. The whole checklist might take you an hour and a half or so. All your feedback will be taken constructively.

Thanks for considering helping us build the world of ILB.

Regards,

Jody - u/astrojr1

New Baseball nerd site. Please review!

I love baseball player nicknames and have been "collecting" them for years. So I finally got enough to build a website to share them. Please check out the site and leave a review/suggestion. The site has other things too like a AI-based Nickname Generator, a list of players that appeared in only one game, a list of 20-game losers, and also allows you to search by nickname or last name.

Please note this is a non-profit site. I don’t make any money on it. In fact it’s cost me money!

The url is [https://baseballnicknames.com\](https://baseballnicknames.com)

Thanks!

Basketball Reference Where can I get the following ON/OFF (per 100) related NBA data?

Hello. I'm trying to collect the data satisfying the following.

(1) It is for a regular season (say 2026), and only top 8 teams are considered.

(2) For each of these 16 teams, I want to collect 5 players with most minutes.

(3) Among those 5 players, I want to collect only those with negative OFF numbers and positive ON numbers each (which can be none).

(4) Among those collected in (3), I will take the one with the least OFF number to represent their team.

(5) All 16 (possibly less if (3) has none) representatives are then collected.

(6) All those players in (5) are then ranked from the least OFF number.

Anyone know where to get such data?

Thank you!

Basketball Reference Interesting Observation over the 2025/2026 Phoenix Suns Jersey Numbers

This is something that I looked into late into last season because I noticed an interesting trend with the roster: there were no players on the roster, all season long, who had a jersey number 30 or above. Jordan Goodwin had the "highest" jersey number at 23, while Royce and Ryan had the lowest at "00" and "0" each.

The Suns had the lowest maximum jersey number in the league; no other team was close (the Rockets had Jeff Green as their highest jersey number at #32). The 2026/2027 roster has a chance to repeat this feat, as their current highest jersey number belongs to Mark Williams, as he will now wear #25 since Devin Booker is switching to #15.

I know this is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but I found this trend fascinating and wanted to share :)

How many players does it take to link a current player on your team to someone who played during your team's first season?

Here are the rules:

  1. seasons must be consecutive. So if a player leaves and comes back it counts as two different streaks of years
  2. military service counts. If a player left to serve we still consider them in the team.
  3. the players do not have to have been on the team at the same time (so player 1 could have retired before the break and player two could have been a late season call up.

However

4) players cannot have been traded for one another.

Example: Detroit Tigers

1901-1905 - Jimmy Barrett

1905-1926 - Ty Cobb

1924-1942 - Charlie Gehringer

1939-1953 Hal Newhouser

1953-1974 Al Kaline

1964-1978 Mickey Stanley

1977-1996 Alan Trammell

1995-2005 Bobby Higginson

2005-2017 Justin Verlander

2008-2023 Miguel Cabrera

2020-Now Tarik Skubal

Big news! On Sports-Reference.com, you can now use our cross-site search bar to quickly find any player or active team on any Reference site! There's no Al, no paid results, just links to the stats and information you want to see.

This brand new search engine also has a couple major upgrades:

  • You can search for any player or active team on any Reference site
  • In addition to player names, you can now search for players by nickname!
  • Search has been upgraded to include a more forgiving "fuzzy search" capability, so don’t worry about perfect spelling

Search is just the first step in a reimagined Sports-Reference.com. Coming later this year, we'll launch Sports Reference Hub, a customizable home page that will change the way you navigate the Reference sites and follow your favorite sports and teams.

It shows a box score of a players career without the teams, and you have to guess who it is. You can choose the era and team if you want to learn more about a team.

If anyone has any advice please let me know.

Stathead Team Season Finder?

Looks like team season finder is for statistics for the team as a whole. But I'm trying to find a season where multiple players on the team averaged over a certain amount of points.

Example: Any season where 4+ players on the team avg 17+ pts.

Any help?

Sewanee Football All Time Stats

I've been looking for days but I can't seem to find a source, so I thought I'd take a shot here.

Does anyone know where I can find all time career statistics For Sewanee Football since they moved to Division 3?
