News During the World Cup victory celebration, people shouted racist remarks "Get out, moro" (referring to people from North Africa) and "You aren't Spanish" at Lamine Yamal.

It’s like everywhere else for every one that hates you there’s 20 that love you and buy your jersey
Just like in America sports is a way to break down racial barriers… not all the way but it’s a start

Spanish people hate Moroccans for historical reasons, they still can't get over al Andalus

u/Frosty_Detective_882 29m ago
They can’t get over themselves. Being openly racist is acceptable in Spain.

It’s crazy how as racist as the US can be at times, you still never hear a “go back where you came from!” from the stands directed at an athlete.

We had a Brewers fan threatening to call ICE on a Mexican-American Dodgers fan. If you think she's the only one.....

Cuz America has the largest African population outside of Africa

I think its more that black people aren’t significantly immigrants in the us. The us doesnt have an ethnic identity like almost everwhere else so its not as easy to just yell go home to someone based on their race.

Thats not close to true. France has substantially more for sure. And the UK might as well depending on what stats you look at. Despite having less than a quarter of the population of the us.

u/ckhaulaway 19m ago
14% of our population is black, what are the percentages for the countries you've given?

u/NSFWdontview 14m ago
France is behind US

u/s33n_ 13m ago
Got a source? Or are you counting all back people as african?
1
u/NSFWdontview 12m ago
They are African racially and where they came from. Why do you think they are called African Americans
1
u/s33n_ 10m ago
Africa isn't a race. It's a country of origin. And most people called African American are from America.
1
u/NSFWdontview 8m ago
African is a race just like caucasians as they originate from the caucus region

Good to see everyone is learning it’s not just a few western countries that are racist, the world is f***d

u/delicate_soup 11m ago
Harassing the most promising young player on your team is certainly a bold strategy

About time people in these crowds took care of these arseholes. If you’re silent, you’re complicit

u/humptheedumpthy 19m ago
People call America racist and yes America absolutely has racial problems. But it would be EXTREMELY rare if not unheard of for American fans to OPENLY shout racist chants at players.

u/Nahmsayin1 5m ago
It happens more than you think. Maybe not as much as in other countries but it does happen here

Ima get the popcorn and wait for the Argentinian haters come and defend Spain 😭

u/Aetheriusman 37m ago
I hate the actions of argentine fans and players and the actions of these spanish people.
Broke you brain? Didn't it?
Truth he told, hispanic people are super racist, if that happened in Brazil that guy shouting would spend a night with the police. After going to the hospital to treat his bruises.

u/Ephinem 30m ago
Hispanic people are racist? Wow so are white people, Asians, black people. The broken brain here is yours for not seeing the irony on calling “Hispanic” people racist. If you hate Argentina bc some fans are racist then you must not like anyone team or country. So then what’s the point in engaging ? Sit this one out
1
u/Aetheriusman 22m ago
Hispanic people are racist because of how they react to racism, it's either very open or the people that may feel it's wrong don't do anything about it.
You'll catch a beating in Brazil if you say shit like this in the open. Or you'll end up in jail, just like the hispanics that went to jail here recently due to racism. The argentine lawyer, there was this other dude, I don't know his nationality, but he was caught saying he wanted to take a black boy as slave, he went to jail too.
Tou can't stop the thoughts of people, but you can punish them publicly berating someone over something they can't change. And they honestly wouldn't and shouldn't.

So what ? If you go to South Korea they won’t even let you in places for being another Asian country let alone a different race! You assuming a whole nation is racist because they are Hispanic is bigoted and they exactly the same thinking that racist people use. What is not clicking in your head ?

I disagree, The most racist place in the world, and the least racist places in the world both still have racists. Disliking a fan base due racism is not saying all other fan bases dont have a single racist. Its because racism is more pervasive in the fan base. Is that not an obvious distinction? You really think its as simple as well everyone has racists so then you must dislike everyone?

All countries are tribal and racist what’s new
1
u/AwhHellYeah 11m ago
This usage of “tribal” has always bothered me, “factional” would be a more applicable since a country is culturally a tribe.
0
u/Aetheriusman 35m ago
Funny enough you can fight this type of barbaric tribalism.
You won't try this in Brazil, because the people will beat the shit out of you and the police will take you to jail.
Unfortunately the only answer to tribals is violence, state sponsored or not.

u/NSFWdontview 33m ago
Brazil is the most tribal and violent, they kill foreigners about soccer
0
u/Aetheriusman 32m ago
Tribal? No.
Criminally violent? Unfortunately, yes.
Both are easily resolved with some good old violence.

u/NSFWdontview 30m ago
Brazil is extremely dangerous for teams from other countries. They even will kill their own players for a mistake in a game
2
u/Particular-Ring5110 23m ago
That was Columbia and saying he was killed for the own goal is over simplifying… he was in a bar and some cartel connected individuals started an argument with him over the play.. things escalated he ended up being shot and killed
They did not specifically set out to hunt him down and shoot him over the own goal.. it led to an argument with some nasty and dangerous people
