what completely ordinary meal do you ruin with heat just to make it interesting?

so most of my cooking is just survival fuel that doesn't need to impress anyone. lately i have been mixing hot pepper powder straight into basic canned tuna with a bit of mayo. it looks absolutely terrifying but it is the only way i can get through eating pantry staples on a tired weeknight. what is your go-to boring pantry meal that you completely saturate with heat just to wake up your tongue?

Buldak Carbonara imitation from Maruchan

Post image
9 Upvotes

Just got this in at the Dollar General I work at. Had to try it for lunch today. It is an $0.80 version of the buldak carbonara imo. Pretty good, has the same spice as the carbonara, and tastes pretty similar. Has anyone else tried this one out?

Edit: It also has the same noodle style, as to emulate the buldak version. I'm pumped to spend half as much on a similar tasting product. Carbonara was never my favorite flavor, but I'll take it lol. I loved the curry which is discontinued, and the original/2x. Yakisoba is good too, but the noodles are shitty skinny ones like normal ramen, so it takes away from samyangs amazing noodles they use for buldak original.

what hot sauce do you always keep around for beef burritos?

i've been making beef burritos at home more often and i'm realizing the hot sauce makes a bigger difference than i expected. i've tried a couple that were either way too vinegary or so spicy that i couldn't taste anything else.

i'm looking for something that adds a good kick without completely overpowering the burrito. what hot sauce do you keep coming back to for beef burritos?

Anyone else love this stuff? It’s absolutely delicious, a nice comfortable burn and the flavor is exceptional. Goes great on a charcuterie board, on a sandwich, and the best thing I’ve tried was using it to make a sauce for some pulled pork.

So spicy it made me cry lol

I am a lover of spicy foods. Add hot sauce to most food items, even deli sandwiches lol

But the Buldak Spicy Ramen (Habenero Lime) has me in literal tears! I was NOT expecting this to be so spicy lol

Hey yall! I’m looking for help finding hot sauces that don’t have garlic in them.

My fiancee adores hot sauces(including crazy hot ones) but can’t have most of them because she’s allergic to garlic— specifically garlic oil. So anything with actual garlic, dehydrated garlic, or garlic salt is a no go. Garlic powder is fine, however. We had been using a few of Melinda’s various hot sauces for a while without issue before we noticed they had changed the recipe on several previously safe varieties to include actual garlic.
We’ve been confined to using Tabasco since, which is fine and good, but a little boring compared to the ones we had been using in terms of flavor depth.

She likes hot honey, fruit-forward hot sauces(mango habanero, for example) and as for big brands of hot sauce, she loves Tapatio.

I call this pod “Death Cloud”

Seeds: Smokin Ed Currie
Tent: vivosun 3x3 200w

I call this pod “Death Cloud” this is the first wave of fruit in this tent on this plant.

I am keeping the seeds from this pod for sure. It looks insane. The top looks like “Freakshows” neck Harold and Kumar reference.

It has a melting effect down the sides and a star shaped tail. I know it’s going to be a wild pepper.

Should I try eating habanero peppers?

So in the last few months I really loved eating peppers and I was mainly eating jalapeño and Serrano. And the other day when I was walking in Walmart I found that they do have orange habanero peppers. So my question is should I try eating habanero pepper or not ?. Also if I ate will it be much pain for someone who eats it for the first time and will the pain stay for hours or will it go after 30 min or so. Also should I eat it the whole pepper in the same day as small pieces or not?

Thanks

I have a very important event tomorrow and Ill be outside for more than 10 hours without access to proper washroom. It's currently 5 am and here I am after I accidentally had some spicy chips (I have almost zero spice tolerance)

This was my least expected on my "worst things that can happen before the event" list. Any advice would be appreciated

Traditional Mexican Italian spicy bread dipping sauce

You take some chorizo and you add in some spaghetti sauce. And then you add in some Tabasco. I went a little heavy with the Tabasco. And then you dip sourdough bread. Or really any other bread. I mean it could be a bagel or a tortilla. I was originally going to do like a Mexican sloppy joe thing. But I used too much of the spaghetti sauce.

And as you can see the can says traditional so it is traditional. And it's Mexican because there's chorizo in it and it's spicy because of the Tabasco.

The last picture I had a little left over so put some mozzarella cheese in it.

the absolute confusion of buying a pepper variety that completely defies its scoville rating

i picked up a bunch of fresh serranos from a local farm stand yesterday expecting a mild crunch for some homemade tacos. i took a tiny test bite and it immediately felt like a molten habanero. i didn't even know serranos could physically reach that level of intensity. it makes me realize how much of a gambling game fresh produce can be. what is the most shockingly hot pepper you bought that was supposed to be mild?
