We just moved to a new house and our TV here doesn't have AV ports in the back only HDMI. My partner likes to speedrun mario 64 in her spare time and I want her to be able to continue that. So whats the best thing I can get her that will have the minimal effect on her doing LBLJ's?

Hello, I am looking for a new game to either speedrun or look forward to soon speedrunning.

What I want in a game is only two things:
Some RNG
3d Platformer or Platformer ESQ

I have liked games such as Bully & Simpsons Hit and Run, which both have good amounts of RNG in them, with NPC traffic, people stealing your bike, car traffic, etc

I would prefer a newer game though that came out somewhat recently

this run was a 1:54 improvement on my previous record too. reached what i thought was considered a reasonable limit for this game with all the RNG, but there might be another minute or two out there if someone's eager enough to take it.

i actually had to make a spreadsheet to figure out how much i was earning through the run. maybe there's a data nerd out there that will appreciate it lol

Hi, I am 2838, the head of the recent Half-Life 2 Done Without Game-Breaking Glitches segmented speedrun released on SourceRuns.

What that run and other segmented speedruns don't convey is the sheer amount of work that goes into them, and I don't think any amount of text can really describe it, so why not show it!

Due to a programming bug I made in my segmenting tools which left retried segments behind, I've been able to render all 177,474 demos (totaling 170 hours) into one video, so you can now appreciate the sheer scale of work (and mismanagement) that this run took.

P.S. Don't actually speedrun Half-Life 2 like this. ABH is fun, walking for 2 hours is not.

Frog Knight is a game I'm building specifically around speedrun-friendly design. Is a mix of Jump King + Hollow Knight (+ Celeste sometimes). Routes, tech, and category structure are baked in from the start. The tournament confirmed that and some of the times coming out of it were genuinely impressive for a game this new.

I don’t follow DS1 WRs super-closely, but that’s such a batshit ballsy strat to save a few seconds, I’m surprised I haven’t heard of it. Anybody know how long that’s been in play? Maybe I’m just out of the loop.

As it says in the title pretty much. I really love the balance of tight movement and major glitches that Portal's Inbounds category provides, but I'm up against a wall and I want to take a break and see if I can find another really satisfying speedrun. I especially liked the progression of learning harder techniques for bigger time saves, and the payoff of a really good run is 10/10. I don't have any consoles, and I'd prefer a run that's under an hour for beginners if possible, but that second requirement is flexible if it's really fun.

So far, Titanfall 2 looks like my best bet, but it's pretty long and I'm not sure if I can dedicate the time to get good. Are there any other games I should be aware of before I dive into Titanfall 2?

Pretty much the title. I read the FAQ, and still have some questions left, so here we are. I haven't gotten Livesplit yet, so once I get it, if I run into any issues that the FAQ doesn't answer, I'll just edit this post rather than causing complete sub saturation with my posts. I want to start with Wuchang (Yes, I am masochistic), and Project I.G.I 2 (I'm also old as dirt).

1. Are submissions free, or do I have to pay a fee to have my runs be submitted?

2. If I use anyone's strats, do I have to mention it at any point? The FAQ says I can watch other people's runs and tutorials, but it doesn't say if I should cite them or not.

3. This one is more personal. How do I deal with discouragement when a part of the run is too hard. Let's go with Sekiro as an example. The way you Cheese Demon of Hatred. It takes some tries for me to pull it off. That can kill a run on the spot. Eventually, my mentality goes from, "Let's try again." to "You're disappointment. Give up. This is embarrassing." I mean it's not "light work" for everyone. XD I know the whole "Step away; take a break" part, but I tend to get obsessive with these segments.

4. Are aesthetic mods allowed? My assumption is "no" because aesthetic mods do more than just change the looks of characters. Sometimes, they change the hitboxes too. On top of that, a mod that makes nighttime turn into daytime changes the visibility levels, so it affects how you approach the game. However, I still wanted to ask to be sure.

I'm VERY new to this whole thing, so bear with me. The most interaction I've had with speedruns has been WaifuRuns and UhTrance's videos running in the back, while I bash my head against the wall, fighting the Bo Sorcerer. :)

as you can see in the video the auto splitter has more splits then the splits file provided by the speedrun resources on this game is there a way i can add my own splits and have it correspond with the auto splitter or add those splits that are in the auto splitter?

I love seeing glitches in speedrun and I always see cool stories about the history of speedrunning in games like mario 64 or zelda but any bug need to be found by someone and some people specialize in bug hunting or so I heard

So I always wondering how do you go about finding bugs? Like surely you can't find a teleportation glitch on accident?? Does it require extensive technical knowledge in the console hardware or in case of modern games the game engine or the physics engine being used? How do you even go figure that out if you're playing on a super niche game with a small community?

Why did they have to beat Bowser 2 (In the Fire Sea)? Is it just that they have to go through the upstairs door so many times that getting the key is quicker than doing whatever glitch is needed to bypass the upstairs door every time they need to?

I feel stupid for needing explanation / confirmation but I’m also kinda surprised they didn’t say why they had to beat Bowser 2 (unless they did and I missed it).
