Batman returns (SNES)

If you grew up in the 90s, you know the trauma of the rental aisle. But in 1993, Konami didn't just dodge the movie game curse—they completely obliterated it with this SNES masterpiece. They engineered a miracle.

We pull back the curtain on Konami’s legendary Osaka development division, led by director Yosushi Yoshimoto, and their architectural assault on the Super Nintendo hardware. Forget generic, floaty sidescrollers. We dissect how the elite team of programming savants abandoned standard platforming for a brutal, methodical belt-scrolling beat 'em up designed specifically to fit the physical presence of Tim Burton's Caped Crusader.

Discover the software engineering genius known as "hit stop," utilizing manual animation freezes to simulate heavy kinetic impact. Explore the complex bounding box mathematics behind the iconic symmetric headbutt and the parabolic projection scripts that let you hurl circus thugs into background signposts to shatter windows. We reveal how Konami weaponized the SNES PPU architecture, leveraging BG3 and mathematical color arithmetic to create volumetric weather and translucent snow without alpha blending hardware. We also geek out over the 64KB sound design heist that compressed Danny Elfman’s massive orchestral score into a microscopic memory pool using BRR compression and Gaussian interpolation. Plus, learn how the developers utilized true hardware Mode 7 rotation and shearing registers for that blistering, unbroken pseudo-3D Batmobile chase. This is the ultimate technical retrospective on how creative limitations breed radical software innovation.

Discussion Super Mario Vanilla Flavour - A SNES ROM Hack That Feels Like an Official Expansion

https://youtube.com/shorts/Ia-olAF0ZBw?feature=share

In the Super Mario World ROM hacking community, "vanilla" doesn't mean boring -it means building entirely new levels using strictly original 1990s graphics, music, and code without any custom assets.

Super Mario Vanilla Flavour (created by creator Niko) is a fantastic example of what can be done within these constraints.

How the hell do you type a space in Aerobiz

Hi all,

Apologies but this is driving me absolutely mad and I don't know where else to ask. Does anyone know how to type a space when writing your company name in Aerobiz? I can't find a space key on the keyboard and none of the buttons seem to do anything. Pic related.

Thanks.

Found this at one of my favorite local retro game spots, it wasn’t quite out on the shelf yet. It was a lot of money, but I definitely got this for a “good price”

Everything here is in such good condition, a single crease on the manual, the posters are super crisp and the box has minimal wear and tear just from opening and closing a few times and the cartridge is pristine

Is it missing anything?

One of the worst games in history but a total guilty pleasure to me. I could pick this piece of crap any day and finish it just for the fun and good (or not so good) memories.

Cartucho SNES no funciona

Discussion Game going dark

Hey all, I bought a snes with Mario Allstars and FF Mystic Quest. I was playing Mario and 5 minutes in the screen went black. I could still hear the game but couldn't see it. I tried cleaning the connectors but the game will not come on at all now. Any suggestions on how to fix that? FF still plays fine.

Discussion Are kids today incapable of playing SNES games

I'm on vacation and rented a SNES mini in the local library. I assume that it got rented mostly by kids and it's full of save games. In all games like Mario World, Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, etc. every Savegame has the lowest percentage possible. It's like they all started a game and immediately quit. Not even one finished the first castle in Mario World or made it through the first dungeon in A Link to the Past.

I mean I often see people here posting pictures of their children playing SNES so that probably doesn't apply to all children but can most of the children today simply not play these games anymore because they're used to instant dopamine release from Tiktok, smartphone games or whatever?

Going through and giving it a deep clean. My cat is being a menace and loves playing with the QTips while I’m scrubbing. The cart slot is pretty oxidized, but the pins look good. I can’t tell if the capacitors are new or not, but they look alright to me.

Excited to test it out more tomorrow. Going to be starting super Mario rpg for the first time. Have a good week all
