Bye Galaxy Welcome Huawei

Left the Galaxy Watch world behind earlier this month.

Honestly, how many of us think about the actual personal use cases that we have for getting smart watches that actually influence/inform our purchases?

In my case once smart watches began getting BP monitoring & heart rate variability measurement functionality, that was/is my main reason for a smart watch purchase. Some context; I am a blood cancer survivor who suffers from long term chemo induced cardiotoxicity (hence a weak heart) & am hypertensive to boot.

GalaxyWatches worked fine for my use case using SHM mod which was nixed in the recent watch One UI 8 (iirc) update.

After plenty of searching on the internet looking for workarounds/solutions, I went ahead & bought this, the Huawei Watch D2.

The ambulatory BP monitoring works in every territory because it uses a physical cuff built into the watch strap & is medically certified. The results are very accurate if you measure in the postures prescribed by Huawei. I've checked the accuracy using an Omron arm cuff monitor as well as a Beurer wrist cuff monitor. The readings are consistently within a +/- 2 mmHG on all 3.

The display is much brighter than my erstwhile GalaxyWatch 5 Pro. The battery life even with hourly BP measurments, AOD, GNSS & a perpetually on bluetooth connection is more than 4 days. The call clarity is miles better than it was on my 5Pro. Notification sync is near instant. Heart rate tracking is more accurate than Samsung as well as sleep tracking.

The watch does require careful physical handling when taking it off & wearing it because of the integrated BP cuff.

What I miss, the ease of being in a seamless ecosystem, the huge variety of apps & watchfaces on WearOs, the huge ROM (D2 only has 4 GB & primarily for health records) that allowed a ton of on watch music and the wifi connectivity.

OTOH being able to keep an eye on my heart health again makes foregoing the above worthwhile.

Couldn't resist. The black GT6 Pro finally arrived. Already took it for a run and started digging into all the metrics. Looking forward to seeing how my fitness stats evolve over the next few months.

Apple watch replacement.

Hi everyone,

I currently own apple watch, but lately I have grown tired of this display and this constant connection with digital device.

I somehow want to stay away from display but also want to be able to measure my activity as apple watch does.

I haven’t tried any of the devices without display yet and am not sure if they really work the same way.

There are these couple of things that I want my watch to keep track of:
1. My daily step.
2. My sleep analysis(my duration of sleep, heart rate during sleep…)

Thats mostly it I can think of right now.

Can someone suggest some good bands. Also if you have used them and how they rallied against apple watch.

Q&A Upgrade from gw7 40m questions

Current setup is s25 ultra

I only use my gw7 for walking/steps, heart rate, check notifications, once in a while I may answer calls or answer texts from the watch. I put my watch on battery saver since the estimated time is 1 day and 18 hours.

Im considering switching to the balance 2xt, one plus 3, or upgrading to the gw9 44mm.

Any advice?

Looking for a smartwatch / fitness tracker on a budget

Hello all! I've been looking around for a smartwatch / fitness tracker for a little while now. My needs are very basic, as I'm not a runner and I'm not the most active individual ever. I'm really looking for something that has very accurate heart rate tracking while at rest & while walking. And then something that has good sleep tracking.

I don't have the money for a top of the line Garmin, so I've been looking at watches like the Fitbit Charge 6, but I am just a bit hesitant to that idea because 1. the recent Google takeover, 2. the subscription model for premium features, and 3. the fact that the watch is a few years old at this point.

Does anyone have any reccomendations about which watch I should get? I don't need anything too flashy but I'm not opposed to a bigger watch either. Smart watch features such as GPS, notifications, etc. are just a bonus.

EDIT: Budget is probably ~200 dollars tops. I'd prefer to stay on the lower end of that if possible. Would only go above that if there was a crazy deal for something that's supposed to be significantly more expensive.

Any MIP display watch that is not an obscene priced?

I hate AMOLED's burns, and using them in SUN. Sure, bright colors in night times, but i don't need that. I prefer to have less colors like MIP displays and good battery life. Eventually solar charging.

Anything that don't cost a fortune?

Replacement for my 6yo Forerunner 245

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a health-/fitness-/smartwatch with a strong focus on health and everyday tracking, while sports features are nice to have but only secondary. I've been researching for a while and have narrowed it down to the Garmin Venu 3, Huawei Watch GT 6, and Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro (and maybe the Vivoactive 6) but I'm still undecided.

My current watch is a Garmin Forerunner 245, which I've used for almost 6 years. While I've generally liked it, I found the sleep tracking to be quite inaccurate recently, which also made the Body Battery feature feel unreliable. Also the battery life has declined a lot in the past years. I'm hoping newer devices have improved significantly in this area. Also in the last years my sports activities have decreased, so I don't need a watch purely for sports.

My priorities:

- Accurate heart rate monitoring (24/7 and during light activities)

- Reliable sleep tracking

- Great battery life; at least 8-10 days with 24/7 health tracking (GPS usage is only occasional)

- Accurate step counting

- Comfortable enough to wear 24/7

- Overall health insights and recovery metrics

Basic sports tracking:

- Walking

- Running

- Cycling

- Occasionally football/soccer

Smartwatch features:

- Read WhatsApp and FotMob notifications

- Silent vibration alarm

- Good Bluetooth stability with Android (I'm using a Honor Magic 7 Pro)

- Maybe Spotify controls

Nice-to-have features:

- ECG

- Barometric altimeter / floor counting

- Good Smartphone App with useful insights (free of course)

Current prices in my country:

Huawei Watch GT 6 (46 mm): €170

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro: €250

Garmin Venu 3: €325-330 (was €300 a week ago)

Garmin Vivoactive 6: €225-250

Which one would be the best to buy, considering my needs and the prices? Or would you recommend something else? Budget-wise I would say max. €300.

Looking for a good, solid option for the next 3-5 years.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Review Apple watch SE 2026

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I got this Apple Watch SE for ₹5000 and here is my review after using it for 72 hours. So in three days, I had to charge this watch only two times the biggest test I ever did for it was yesterday when I charged it at 12pm to hundred percent and then I used it till today at 12, so which was only 24 hours more or less. It would be nearly 24 hours 23 hours and what I would say I got this watch 90% battery health and yet I was able to go through 24 hours without even needing to charge it once I could take my calls wherever I want seamlessly so I would say it was a very good deal for me because I’m a very light user, but what do you guys think was a good deal for ₹5000?

I bought the Amazfit Bip 6 a few days ago and it's not working. When I turn it on, it goes straight to "recovery mode" and I can't do anything. I've tried everything but it won't get out of there. I need to know if anyone else has had the same problem and how they solved it.

A few months with a rugged sport watch

Post image
7 Upvotes

Picked Kospet M4 up a few month ago mostly because I like the shape. I know bigger rugged watches aren't for everyone, but this one felt like something I'd actually wear for both daily use and weekend stuff.

I've been using it for the usual things like sleep tracking, heart rate, SpO2, notification, and the occasional call. On weekends I've used it for hikes and open water swims. I'm about a week in right now without charging and it still has some battery left. I'm not babying it either, The screen sits inside a stainless steel frame, so I'm not worried about scratching it or bumping it into stuff. For the price, pretty happy with it so far.

Venu 3S discounted vs cheaper brand?

I’ve had a Venu 2S for 3 years and it’s just died (battery issues - think quite common from what I’ve read on the Garmin groups). Garmin have been helpful and offered me a 35% discount to buy a new Venu 3S. However, I can’t help feel annoyed that I spent this money on a watch 3 years ago and now have to spend again…. Maybe I’m simply being unrealistic to think electronics should last longer than 3 years?

Anyway, my question is, spend the money and get the discounted Garmin Venu 3S or instead buy a cheaper smart watch, knowing anyway the tech may fail again on me in 3 years?

I like my smart watch for tracking steps, sleep and basic exercise tracking eg a gym class session.

Thanks for any advice!

Looking for a Watch with Minimal Feature

Hello,

I have a Garmin Vivomove Sport. It's not bad, but I find the battery doesn't even last 3 days.

I am looking for a watch that has a good battery life. All I really care about for features is having a display (I need to be able to check the time at work), heart rate monitor, and step counter.

I'm not looking for anything super fancy, cheap and efficient is perfect.

Cheers

Hey guys

Just wanted to share regarding my first ever smartwatch owner (or a reshaped fitness tracker, however you want to call it)

I’ve only used the mi band 3 or 4 before this

  1. It had the exact features i wanted, sports, fitness etc without any unnecessary calling or music functionality. I hate those features and they reduce battery life and overall life of the watch.

  2. I’ve used this in the hills and at the beaches, yes, in the sea as well

I regularly go swimming with this watch and take it in the water every time.

  1. I bought it during Covid at a very good deal and price thanks to Amazon great Indian festival.

It’s gonna be 6 years of owning it now and the screen is showing signs of burning out:(

  1. This functioned perfectly without having me to constantly pair it with my smartphone. It worked excellently as a stand alone device, exactly what i wanted.

It’s been a very solid 6 years, and I’m truly going to miss this watch.

It’s also survived a bike accident of mine (3rd pic for reference)

Thank you very much honor.
