Size up from an 8.0 or nah ?

Post image

Surfskate background so I can ride ok, but zero tricks so far. Goal is basic tricks + parks.
179cm, 87kg, EU 44. The 8.0 feels a bit small under my feet. Go 8.25, or does wider make flips harder to learn?

Any recommendations for the size ?
Tnx

Question A newbie needs help

Hi 👋,

I'm looking for a new skateboard for my daughter - she's a beginner. Since I'm no skateboarder myself I'd like to ask for some advice.

As much as I know she needs a 7.25" x 29" deck and a wheelbase of about 12".

What manufacturer or board would you recommend with a budget of about 100 dollars? Then I'll check wether it's possible to get it in Germany...

Thanks a lot for your help!

Just built this board and I think my bolts are sitting too into the deck, is it normal or am I cooked?

Question Can you help me understand how truly difficult skating is and bring me back to reality?

Thumbnail facebook.com

Can barely ride but have always admired skateboarding from afar. Thought this clip was really cool but couldn’t help wish he went back down the bank to end his line, rather than the end of the street.

Am I too desensitised by Session/Skate/Thrasher/etc or would popping out of the nose manual to land back in the bank be realistically possible?

Feel free to tear me apart, I’m not a true skater and never will be able to do more than wobble 20ft down the road. I just need a reality check

Question Primitive decks

How do they feel to the skaters that have been skating them? I currently skate an 8.5 and want to know how an 8.38 or 8.25 primitive deck feels!

Image Ever got too injured to walk? I think this could help you

I had just got injured and while I was "walking back home with one leg and my skateboard as a cane I got an Idea for a place holder for crutches until you get home.

The Idea is that if your ankle gets injured and you can't put pressure on it you could instead use your knee and sk8board to support you.

This is the fieat version of it and in the future I will try to make it smaller, foldable and light.

Right now I'm leaving how to 3d model and with luck in the near future I will print a prototype and upload it.

Please contact me if you want more information about this crutch 🩼 .

(Sorry for any bad pronunciation I'm 16 and English isn't my native language 🙏)

Question bushings a little misshapen after being in hot car

i left my board in my gfs hot cat for a couple days and when i got back on it the bushing were super squeaky. i took them off and put some wax on them to stop the squeaking and i noticed the bushings were a little squished down and one of them had a little chunk missing from it. is this because of the heat? and is this bad for them?

Question Help me with my new etnies shoes causing heel blisters on my back foot repeatedly...

Thumbnail

About two weeks ago I started skating the blue etnies shoes. I haven't been wearing them for some time but they already broke in by walking a couple months ago. I found one of the shoes (I think the right one) under the bed where my cat dragged it and it was there for God knows how long because I have been wearing the middle ones lately... I bought the blue ones at discounted price but kept skating the Osiris shoes until the sole hole wasn't so bad my thumb was sticking out... Then I had a birthday and I got middle ones and I was happy to have two shoes ready for skating. Anyway when you look at the first picture you can see the Osiris have much higher heel packet or whatever in comparison to both etnies shoes... Anyway I skated the blue ones for one session that lasted maybe an hour at most and got a terrible blister on my back foot after which I wasn't skating for around a week because of that... Yesterday I thought I'd finally come back to it, I even put a sports bandage for blisters over the area and put some normal bandage there as cushioning and still not even an hour into my session I had to stop because it opened again... First time I was skating them I had my laces tight, yesterday loose and no fucking change... I have haglunds deformity on my heels and usually after a while of wearing shoes I have a hole over it... Which is already happening on this shoe as you can see in the second picture and it's right at the spot where the blister happens most... What can I do with it? It's just the right foot, the other heel is completely fine... I thought I had two pairs of skate shoes in reverse and now I'm finding out I won't be able to skate them? Also I've been feeling really bad lately, been working a lot and was so excited to skate on my three days off and instead of that I have to sit at home...

Im new at skating and I think I need some help..

Hey guys, I'm new at skating. My skate spot is a basketball court right next to my apartment building — like 3-10 steps from the door. I'm so embarrassed about the trick sounds. They feel too loud and distorted to me. I can't even try any tricks, I just do the tic-tac thing. I'm so afraid of what the people in the apartments next to me think about me skating. I know it sounds absurd but I can't get over it. I'm also really scared of falling when I try tricks, and when I finally work up the courage to try, my legs just won't listen to me. I feel so stupid. I really love skating but I can't skate and it kills my motivation . What can I do about this? Is this normal? Am I overthinking it? Thanks for reading💙

Question Skateboard, any help?

I bought myself an Oxelo mid white tattoo skateboard a month or so ago. Although I can ride with it, the board has gotten noticeably slower. I was thinking about getting new wheels and bearings.

My budget is pretty tight. Should I rather spend a whole lot more on two new trucks, or just buy new bushings?

Currently, I am looking for super reds & speed cream by bones. I don't know which wheels i should get, yet.

Gear help 7.5 vs 8.25

So my dad has an old board laying around it’s a 7.5 atleast that’s what I measured although it’s very used and well loved. And I’m wondering since I’ve done lots of research and it seems like 8.25 is the right size (idk if it matters but I’m 10 ish shoe size and 5 10) for me. Although I’m wondering if I should order 8.25 and wait to ride that one so it’s more stable and safe to ride or if I should go for it on the smaller board see how I like it, keep riding the 7.5 one and just go from there. The small one has bigger wheels almost cruiser wheels and small risers, so what should I do?

TLDR; should I buy a bigger and more stable 8.25 with regular wheels to start skating on. Or start and practice with my dad’s old smaller 7.5 with bigger wheels and risers?

Thanks for any help and I’m open to any questions about info that may be important that I left out, and I just wanna start the best way possible into skating.

Question Got asked for help, so now I’m here!!

My friend asked me if I could help her with a playlist, and the playlist type she mentioned was specifically “straight skater boy” I’m not a skater at all, so I’m not well versed in this, but I do know that skating and music have always intertwined, and was honestly interested in seeing the diversity in skaters tastes!! You can be a modern skater, or an older skater, it doesn’t matter, as long as you skate and like music!! I’ll take everyone’s responses and add them into a playlist!! Thank you.

Sometimes my board doesn’t turn 90° but why does it on the times it does? Also I pretty much always land my back foot on but I haven’t once been able to land my front foot on. Why is this??
In short: why does my board turn 90° and why can’t I land my front foot while kick flipping?
Thank you :)

Question How long does it take to shred a deck to hell?

Curious to see what everyones timeline is for swapping out a deck. Obviously, it depends on how hard you skate and what tricks you do, but i am curious to see if my swappage times are normal.

I personally wait until my decks get totally fucked up where you basically can not even hardly balance, but im curious as to what everybody's thoughts are.

Do you wait until your deck loses its pop? Or are you waiting until your board literally snaps in half like me?

With all this being said, How long does it take to shred a deck to hell?

Gear help what wheels will be perfect?

deck: dgk 8.38

trucks: indy stage 11 149s standard

places i skate: smooth indoor car park, outdoor skatepark, some smooth street spots.

side note: id prefer to skate to the skatepark but the ground is sorta rough, making my board very loud and slow as my wheels dont absorb the vibrations.

any help is encouraged, thanks.

Question Is 31 to late to Start street skating ?

I know older people commonly still skate but is it to late to completely start out at this age? Both in terms of physically, skill wise like can you get fairly good still and does it look weird from a street, people perspective? Since your not known etc.

I ask because I'm interested, I was interested when I was younger but was a top state ranked pro mma figured and it was just kinda more the focus and never got to it but loved the vibe, look of the culture and been looking up old Bones brigade stuff and was considering it. Socially tho I feel a little weird because I remember all the skaters irl in my town were 95% teens, high schoolers, middle schoolers and the few late teen, early 20s skaters remaining still doing it were considered *old* so is 31 gonna be looks at really weird by people? One of my goals with it is the vibes, to possibly do it with some people etc so I'm just curious.
