Sioux City Airport

Considering using the airport in Sioux City for a Chicago trip I have to make as it’s easier access for me. Any stories on the airport? Honestly the small planes scare me, but the proximity of the SUX airport may be worth it.

Posting this for anyone in Sioux City who's into stand-up. I run Siouxland Comedy and we've got two touring comics, Levi Light and Layton Flatt, coming back through town this Friday, July 24th at Whiskey Dick's.

They played here last year and it was a great show, so we booked them again. Layton's opened for Kevin Farley and Preston Lacy from Jackass if that gives you an idea of the level these guys are at. Between the two of them they've done shows in over 100 cities, so they know how to work a room.

Tony Villagrana's hosting — he's a Sioux City guy who just won our last Siouxland Comedy Battle, so he'll be warming the crowd up too.

Doors at 7, show starts at 8. $10 tickets, link's below. One thing worth mentioning — Whiskey Dick's bar is cash only, so grab cash beforehand if you're planning on drinking.

Let me know if anyone's got questions, happy to answer.

So much to do! So little time! We have a ton of stuff going on at The Warp Zone this week. Mario Kart on Tuesday, Free Hot Dogs and Malort on Wednesday, Glam Rock karaoke with Willem Deheaux on Friday and Tiki Night Saturday. We are working hard to ensure that there are in fact, a few things to do in Sioux City.

Drilling Pharmacy Survey for UIowa Marketing Project

Hi everyone,

I am teaching a class at the University of Iowa where marketing students will be analyzing data from customer surveys. We are working with Drilling Pharmacy in Sioux City for one of these projects.

We are looking to collect survey responses from Siouxland residents who have visited Drilling in the past year. As a thank you, you'll have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a $100 Drilling Pharmacy gift card at the end of the survey. It takes about 5 minutes to complete.

Here is the survey link:

Thank you for helping us serve you and our community even better. We truly appreciate your time and support!

ImOn fiber optic internet

Currently living in South Sioux and going through longlines but latency issues have us wanting to try a different ISP. Metronet/T-Mobile is not available in our area so we’re possibly going to try ImOn. Is ImOn reliable and fast? It’s fiber internet so I would think it would be enough for 2 people gaming. Does anyone use ImOn and like their speeds/ reliability, how is there customer service and installation?

For hire: A cleaning person to clean my father's home. (Please help me search for someone.)

Hey y'all. I need help finding a new person to clean my father's home because the former person retired. If you know of anyone, please send me their contact information along with any other relevant details in a DM.

My father lives in a 3 bedroom home on the north side of town but only the upstairs needs cleaning. He is retired and recently had surgery for a minor condition so finding a replacement cleaning person would really help. If you need any other information from me, we can discuss it in DMs. Thanks for the assistance!

Places to rent?

Hello everybody, I am currently entertaining a new job offer that would place me in the area.

I am looking for recommendations on apartments or places to rent while I’m there. It will only be me so studios or one bedroom units are plenty sufficient. The job duration is approximately two years.

Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stand-up comedy at Whiskey Dick's — Friday July 24th

Hey all, I run Siouxland Comedy and we've got a show coming up I wanted to share.

Levi Light and Layton Flatt are coming back through Sioux City on their Road Trip Comedy Tour. They came through last year and killed it, so we booked them again. These guys have done over 100 cities together so the show is really dialed in. Layton has toured with Kevin Farley and Preston Lacy from Jackass if you want a reference point.

Tony Villagrana is hosting — local guy who just won our last Siouxland Comedy Battle.

Doors at 7, show at 8. Tickets are $10, link below. Fair warning that Whiskey Dick's is cash only at the bar, so bring cash if you want drinks.

Happy to answer any questions about the show or the comedy scene here in general.

Geriatric massage?

I asked this like a year ago but I wanted to see if there was any other information out there. (Not that the info before was bad but that it didn't get used)

I'm looking for a very, very very gentle massage therapist for my grandmother who sort of just, you know... moves the blood around but isn't actually trying to do anything pressure wise for muscle correction. Does anyone know of a massage therapist who either specializes or works with the elderly often? I'm not sure if there's any retirement or assisted living homes I should be reaching out to or if this is more of a medical request. Please let me know if anyone has any insights. I really want to make her comfortable.

Happy fourth/sitp guys!

Any updates on the climbing wall?

I see that company managing the wall didn't renew their lease in 2024 but have not seen any other updates since. Has anyone heard what's going on and if there are any plans to reopen?

Friday at karaoke if you sing a song by a Warped Tour artist, you get a free Jell-O shot. Saturday we are running twofers on all domestic beer and well mixed drinks. Landlord Selling My Rental House

UPDATE: The realtor got ahold of me last night and informed me that my landlord isn’t “considering” or “going to be” listing the house but already has and upon looking it up I have found that it’s been listed for sale since 3/31 of this year. Which means they’ve kept me in the dark about the whole thing for months and waited to tell me until one month before I will potentially have to be out of the house. Considering I had no intentions of moving out and was going to resign my lease at the end of July, this gives me a very small time frame to figure things out or look into my options. They could have been transparent with me the moment they started considering selling the place to give me a comfortable amount time to think about my options. It’s just super disheartening and even more so because my immediate family is also moving across the country as soon as their home that they have listed sells so I have no fall back options while I try to find a new home for me and my daughter.

Bear with me because this might be a long post.

I just received a phone call from my landlord this evening that they are going to be listing the home that they are currently renting to me. My lease was going to be up at the end of July but I planned on renewing it as I am not in a place to buy a home or find a new home to rent as a single mom considering how bad the economy is and how high mortgage and rent prices are. The house is decent and in comparison to other rental homes in the area the price of rent here has been the most reasonable I had found in the Sioux City area. It’s a 3 bedroom (one of the bedrooms being the size of a small nursery or office space) for $1350 a month.

They are giving me the option to purchase it before anyone else, but I don’t think it’s a good option. They had a city inspection here a couple weeks ago and I have no idea how it went or if they found any major issues. I have a hunch that there may have been issues as it is pretty apparent that this house does have some foundation issues (cracks running vertical above the doorways and down the walls/ceiling in numerous places as well as a slanted floor in the living room) as well as possible mold issues (I’ve found that mold sometimes shows around some of the floor registers and the AC omits a very musty smell even with filter changes and the AC unit being cleaned out.)

I guess this post is just so I can get my anxiety off my chest and get opinions on what to do in this situation or suggestions on other rental homes in the area that are around the same price as I really can’t afford anything higher in rent but still want something comparable. To add I’ve lived here for 3 years with perfect rent payment history and I’m sure my landlord would vouch that I’ve been a reliable tenant.
