Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) Is this a safe space to admit I don't really care about Silent Hill Townfall yet
It's really nothing that I'm upset about or anything, but I'm curious if I'm the only one here that was hype asf for 2 and f, yet just isn't excited by anything they've shown from Townfall so far. There's definitely specific reasons, mostly the monster designs and seemingly similar-to-SH2 storyline in the game, but I'm also more than okay with a future where I'm super wrong and it ends up being a banger !!!
Also, gonna be 100% honest, Kojima's OD has my curiosity by the balls atm, if we're only talking upcoming horror games at least
EDIT: apparently Townfall will be at gamescom which is where I'll be giving their promo one more shot lol

General Discussion My Thoughts on Silent Hill f: A Beautiful Horror Game That Doesn’t Feel Like Silent Hill. Please don't hate me! This is just my opinion.
After playing through the Silent Hill series, including the original games and the Silent Hill 2 Remake, I went into Silent Hill f with high expectations. Unfortunately, while I can appreciate what the developers were trying to do, the game ended up being one of my least favorite entries in the franchise.
My biggest issue is that Silent Hill f does not capture the feeling that made the series special to me. The original Silent Hill games created fear through atmosphere: abandoned buildings, empty streets covered in fog, decaying environments, and the constant feeling that something was deeply wrong. The locations themselves felt like nightmares. In comparison, Silent Hill f’s environments often feel more like realistic Japanese countryside locations. They are visually interesting, but they rarely create the same sense of dread.
The horror style is also very different. Silent Hill f focuses heavily on Japanese folklore, symbolism, transformation, and themes of beauty and decay. I understand that this is intentional, but it simply did not connect with me the way the psychological horror of Silent Hill 2 did. Enemies like the flower creatures were meant to be disturbing, but they did not have the same impact as the unforgettable monsters from previous games.
The story also takes a direction that I struggled to connect with. The constant switching between realities and the wolf arm mechanic felt disconnected from what I consider the core identity of Silent Hill. Instead of feeling like I was trapped in a psychological nightmare, it sometimes felt closer to a fantasy horror experience.
My ranking of the series reflects what I value most in Silent Hill. My favorite remains the original Silent Hill 2, followed by Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Silent Hill 3. I would even place Silent Hill 4: The Room above Silent Hill f because, despite its flaws, it still captured the feeling of being trapped in an unsettling nightmare.
I would place Silent Hill f above games like Origins, Homecoming, and Downpour, but only slightly. Those games also struggled to capture the original atmosphere of the series, but Silent Hill f still feels like it has a stronger identity and more ambition.
Ultimately, I don’t think Silent Hill f is a bad game. It has impressive visuals, a unique artistic direction, and clearly has a story it wants to tell. However, for fans who love Silent Hill because of the fog, isolation, disturbing monsters, and psychological horror of the original games, it may feel less like a true Silent Hill experience and more like a different style of horror game carrying the Silent Hill name.

Silent Hill 2 (2001) Does anyone actually have the standard black label PAL version of Silent Hill 2?
I’ve been wanting to buy Silent Hill 2 for a while, but one thing I find very interesting is that it seems in Europe, the rarest version of the game is the standard version.
If you look on second hand websites you can easily find a copy of the Collectors Edition with the extra ”Making Of” DVD, or even the Directors Cut Platinum version. But at least in my experience, the standard black label version is really rare. Even on pricecharting.com when looking at PAL prices it seems they automatically count the PAL version as the Collectors Edition, and I can barely find any sales of the standard version. Why is it so rare even though it’s seemingly the most ”normal” version of the game?
That also makes me wonder, how much is it worth? I mean on one hand, it’s the only version that doesn’t have extra content or a extra DVD. But it also seems to be by far the most rare.
I’m just wondering if anyone has anything to say about this. I find it quite interesting. And I’d be interested to know if anyone here has one and how much they paid.

Fanmade I tried to capture Silent Hill's atmospheric music, the same way how Akira Yamoaka does it. Is it good?

Silent Hill 3 (2003) Finally beat the game but man..
So after a soft restart because I didnt have the ammo nor heals to kill god I finally beat silent hill 3 but man. I missed 3 maps so I ran around areas with zero idea what I was doing. And I killed those horses on the carousel without knowing I was actually supposed to...I inspected one on accident and when Heather said it was alive I just started beating them all out of frustration...
Good game though, maybe hot take but I enjoyed it more than silent hill 2 and that's probably my top 5 games oat. And it also answers a question I've seen elsewhere about who went through more in their game (heather or james) and it's definitely her.
Also Claudia eating the fetus made me physically recoil, I've never been so uncomfortable playing a game before.

Silent Hill (1999) Can the original silent hill be brought on PC and consoles for the sake of preservation?
Hello I played Silent hill in 2000 and saw a video explaining that the original Silent Hill did not have much support in terms of preservation. It wasn't brought online on PC or consoles(i am not counting the remastered collection) and I agree that it would be a loss to not have the original available , for example on GOG. Not a remaster or a remake, but the original. I am not saying a remake or remaster wouldn't be nice, but I think the original deserve to be supported, because the technical limitations the developers had to deal with back then contributed to its success.

Fanmade Channeled some classic fog-heavy nostalgia into a Silent Hill-inspired ambient track
Hey everyone, like a lot of you, I've spent countless hours wandering the empty streets and rusted corridors of the early games, completely mesmerized by the psychological weight of Akira Yamaoka's soundscapes.
Lately, I wanted to see if I could capture that specific brand of industrial melancholy and isolation. I put together a piece that leans heavily into that classic PS1/PS2 horror aesthetic—lots of tape hiss, melancholic chords, and heavy, unsettling atmosphere.
If anyone is looking for some background noise for late-night rumination or just wants to zone out to some nostalgia, you can listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlU3gkIMNyw
I'd love to know how well it captures that vibe for you, or what your all-time favorite track from the series is.

Silent Hill 3 (2003) Before I start SH3, is there anything messed up and evil mid-way through the game?
Now, I don't mean story-wise obviously. I wanna go through the game at least relatively spoiler-free with my sister, like I did with SH2 recently.
I just wanted to know if there were some messed up item placements for puzzles, instant game overs for doing a thing wrong, random difficulty spikes, etc. etc. Since I've been burned by FFVIII throwing a multitude of curveballs, also recently oddly enough.
