New Shenzhen subreddit for advertising.

Hi all,

I have been playing with the idea of a separate subreddit just for advertising products and services. I have created r/ShenzhenMarketplace. This is specifically for advertising, so if you are offering a particular product or service, or are looking for a particular product or service, post it in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.

What cannot be posted is anything illegal under the laws of the People's Republic of China or Reddit rules in general.

No advertising or posting for personal blogs, vlogs, or any influencers, as is the case in this subreddit. This is going to be strictly enforced in both subreddits moving forward. Nobody is really interested in your particular hot take, and I've personally seem some terrible ones.

Advertising or reviews for bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, parks, massage (legal ones please) would be most welcome in the r/ShenzhenMarketplace sub.

It would be helpful if you put in the title of the post what your intent is (example: For Sale, Seeking for, For rent, etc.) and then some description following (Blenders, pianos, 2 bedroom) and then the details in the body of the post. Details are important and posts may be deleted if they have minimal content.

DO NOT SPAM THE SUBREDDIT. Posting the same thing every day will not be allowed. Consider that three days or more for the same content will be the most allowed.

ONE LAST POINT: Since there is a specific subreddit for advertising far, far grey area posts will be allowed here. This subreddit should be more focused on life and interest in Shenzhen.

Thanks everyone and let's see how this goes.

Meeting people and advices

Hello everybody! I've just accepted a job offer in Shenzhen (it's located in Shekuo) and I'd love to meet people once I arrive there (August 1st)

I visited Shenzhen for 2 days during December but I barely know anything about the city. I don't know anyone and the only thing I've heard is that Shekuo is very expensive to get an apartment haha.

I'm 32 years old from Spain and I'm willing to meet people, whether locals, foreigners, males females etc. I'm a very friendly person and I like a lot of different hobbies/topics (sports, history, philosophy....)

If you wanna meet or you have any advice to provide me (housing, activities, anything is helpful) you're more than welcome 😊

Hello! I will be visiting ShenZhen this August, is there a "Shenzhen Welcome Marker" in the immigrations coming from Hong Kong? I'm so excited to have a souvenir photo with this kind of marker just like what I did from other countries I explored. Thanks!

Tips for 4 months rental in Shenzhen?

Hi everyone,

I’ll be moving to Shenzhen for a university exchange in mid August and I’m looking for a place to rent for around 4 months.

I’ll be studying in the Longgang area, but I’m also considering living somewhere more central/urban with good public transport, restaurants, shops and easy access to the rest of Shenzhen.

My budget would be around ¥6,000/month, ideally for a modern furnished studio or 1-bedroom apartment, preferably with good amenities (gym, security, etc.).

For a short-term stay like this, what would you recommend?

Are there specific websites/apps or agencies I should use to find 4-month rentals?

Is it better to book a hotel for the first week and look for a place locally?

Is a budget of around ¥6,000/month realistic for a decent modern studio/1-bedroom in areas with good transport links?

Are there any neighbourhoods you would recommend considering the location of my university?

How is the rental market in Shenzhen market? For one listing that is published, do you have a lot of people applying and competing?

What western app-friendly phone should I get?

I just moved here this week, signed up for a new line, only to discover my Samsung S25 isn't China 5G (or 5A rather) compatible.

So now I need to shell out maybe 2000rmb for a new phone. Can anyone please recco a mid-range non-iphone please? Ease of access/usage to the usual "western" apps is important i.e. the usual whatsapp, IG, Netflix, Disney+ etc. I understand the different manufacturers each have their own way around it or something? Thanks.

Hong Kong to Shenzhen (Canadian Passport)

Hey everyone! I’m a Canadian citizen traveling to Hong Kong in September and planning a 3-day side trip to Shenzhen before heading back to HK.

Can any fellow Canadians confirm the entry process? My understanding is that Canadians get 30 days of visa-free entry to mainland China, so I shouldn't need to apply for a visa in advance, right? If anyone has done a similar trip recently, I’d love to hear how the border crossing went!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a good tax consultant who can help me understand taxes for small business owners in China.

If you’ve worked with someone you can recommend (English-speaking would be a plus), I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I am an exchange student in SZBL for a month. Are there any running clubs around Guangming? I am on a run streak and I run everyday and I want to know if there are running clubs around or if you can recommend a good area to run and also tour around while running near Guangming or Guangquiao or Changzhen.

You can also send me a PM of you want to join my runs.

Thank you!

I'm a 23M Chinese working in Nanshan District, shenzhen. I just graduated and came to shenzhen this month,so I wanna have some new friends to explore this city together. My work is about international logistics and my English is not bad(My IELTS score is 7.5, but speaking is just 6.5), so I'd like to chat with international friends to learn new culture(probably I'll go to Middle East or Africa for work several months later)and practice English(I also would like to help you practice Chinese).

There is an English Standup Comedy by Norah in Shenzhen next Saturday (7.25). Norah is one of my favorite comedians who has good interaction with audiences. Her owns comedy room in Shanghai and I have attended several times and felt awesome.

There is another comedy show in Dongguan in English too, at 7.31.

Anyone wants to come? Let's enjoy the power of the languages!

where to have suit adjusted?

I have a custom made cashmere suit in HK from years ago. i want to have it adjusted to a smaller size.
since the tailor in HK has been retired and the store ha been taken over by a mainland tailor (with HK prices), I need to find a new one, so I guess I might as well try shenzhen. (never been there before). any tips on price and needed time?
