User Flair now active

Our Sub's User Flair is now active. Have fun! How to choose what's right for YOU..

  1. Enthusiastic Amateur....Basically a "newbie" who enjoys the hobby!

  2. Avid Hunter...You're out there searching whenever you get the chance!

  3. Collector...You just enjoy adding new teeth whether finding them, buying them or trading for them or in other ways!

  4. Professor... You know your stuff and constantly and correctly help others with their questions. Don't be modest. If this applies to you use it. It identifies you to others and gives them confidence in your answers!

  5. Junior Professor... You know a lot about the subject and can answer questions with a reasonably high degree of certainty, but you feel you still have a little ways to go. You're in good company

  6. Dive Master... No need to hold an actual master certificate, it just means your preferred way of collecting means being under water!

  7. Beach Comber...Because for you, finding salty sand teeth is the life! (Or maybe because it's your primary option)

  8. Creek Crawler...For you nothing beats dodging snakes, gators and skeeters in search of the perfect tooth!

  9. Fossil Fanatic... Teeth are great, but you're just as happy with any and all other prehistoric prizes!

  10. All About The Megs... all shark teeth are neat, but hey..a Meg?? Come on now!!

Found this lil beaut after dark on North Myrtle Beach. Google says likely a fossilized great white shark tooth, but wanted to check with the professionals :)
It’s super shiny and smooth, and serrations are quite sharp. About an inch long from root to tip and an inch wide at the root as well. This is my first shark tooth find!
Obligatory banana for scale

On my morning beach walk I found this large black item. It has a very similar profile to a small shark tooth I found the day before, shown in the first picture.

Additional pics show the top and profile of the large item. Is this a fossilized shark tooth, maybe with lots of extra sediment? Or just a rock? Appreciate any insights!

My family is on vacation in Alabama - they went for a walk this morning after Tropical Storm Bertha passed through last night and my mom found this along the shoreline when they were shell hunting. Is this an older shark tooth or something else?

With the tropical storm Bertha lots of massive waves have brought to shore a lot of neat stuff. I found this with my family but was afraid it was from a necklace and not real however the hole in the middle does not go all the way through. Is this real and what kind of shark? Thank you!

ID Request Found a tooth

Found this tooth many years ago at a beach on Okinawa when I was an exchange student.

I’ve been wondering for a long, long time what kind of shark it belonged to, so I’ve been researching quite a bit. My best guess is an Otodus Obliquus, but since there are many knowledgeable people in this sub, I was hoping there would be someone who could identify it for me!

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
