Question Does anyone else’s schnauzer sneeze if you rub their belly?

Is this a normal thing or is it just my little weirdo? He loves belly rubs but also sneezes when I do it. Just curious

Question Adding a 3rd...Can't Decide

Post image

So I have an 11 (almost 12) year old Labrador retriever and a 4 year old mini schnauzer. My mini schnauzer has really bad separation anxiety, but when our Labrador is with him he is completely fine. He loves having a buddy with him when we are at work or away, but if she is not there he is freaking out and crying in his crate (we have had him since he was a puppy and sometimes travel with just him). With our older dog getting really up there in age, we are considering a third from a rescue. We found a schnoodle who is 2 and was found as a stray. His foster mom had amazing things to say about him, especially how calm and sweet he is. He sounds just like my mini schnauzer. We have the room/space in our home/yard for another dog.

I guess my only hesitation is adding a third will change an already good dynamic. I just worry for my schnauzer when our lab passes away, I don't want him to be grieving while also having to adjust to a new dog. Any advice, experiences, or thoughts would be great ❤️

Question Anyone else have a really lean Mini Schnauzer?

This is my second Mini Schnauzer, and she's much leaner than my first. My previous schnauzer was a male who loved to eat just about anything and stayed around 20 lbs.

My current girl is 11 lbs, super active, and only eats about ¾ to 1 cup of food a day. She looks much slimmer than my last dog, and I sometimes worry that she's too skinny.

My vet says she's healthy and at a good weight, but I'd love to see photos or hear from anyone else who has a naturally slim Mini Schnauzer. It would definitely help put my mind at ease!

Question Adoption

I am in Northern California and want to know if there are any adoption or rescue centers that someone recommends for adopting a schnauzer. I had a schnauzer for 16 years and loved her very much. I am now ready to start looking. I would appreciate some recommendations. Even if I have to drive 8 hours, I am fine with that.

Thanks in advance

Story I just adopted this mini Schnauzer yesterday! 🥹❤️

After years of thinking about getting a dog, I finally found MY dog, and I couldn’t be happier. I adopted him yesterday, and he’s already settling in so well.

One thing I do know… his current name has got to go. 😂 I’d love some name suggestions! I like names that are unique, meaningful, or fit his personality.
So far (after only 24 hours):
He’s incredibly chill around the house.
He isn’t super clingy, which I actually don’t mind.

He LOVES other dogs and barks whenever he sees one, but it seems playful and like he just wants to meet everyone.
He rides great in the car and has been such a sweet little guy.

The biggest things I want to work on are:
Teaching him to come when I call him (his recall is basically nonexistent right now 😅).
Teaching him to wait at the door instead of bolting outside. Yesterday he ran out the front door, and it definitely scared me.

I’d love any advice from Schnauzer owners! What training tips worked best for you?

Any must-have products, grooming tips, or things you wish you knew when you first adopted your Schnauzer?
Also… what would you name him? 🐾

Thanks! I’m just really grateful I finally got to adopt this sweet little guy. ❤️

Does anyone else look at their schnauzer and get cuteness aggression so bad you just start insulting them? I mean, look at this idiot. Freakin dummy thinks he's all cute and stuff. Can't even reach the counter, frickin nerd. Thinks he's all tough but he's literally just a lil guy. Pfft. As if. Gonna drop kick this little dude, frickin nerd. -me, while very gently giving him head scritches
