Question Smithing complaint

How the f does making Glorious bar not give any xp waste 20min to make one and literally no xp. It's a high level smithing item make it give you at least 20k xp for the amount of resources you have to gather. Just complaining in hopes they might fix this

Discussion People say dailies are bad, I say dailies are great.

Post image
0 Upvotes

A year or two ago, I started making a list of dailies I would do after I logged on every day after work. My goal was to setup "Passive" income so even if I wanted to skill instead of pvm GP still goes up.

This is about two years later of on again off again playing. Maybe less. Last I checked the value it was around 2.2bil. I have had only semi competent discipline with these things. Some methods are new, some are old, some is AFK skilling that acts as a semi daily (Like farming div charges to lower my overall upkeep that doesn't overlap with an oppertunity cost). A few things like ports items have been sold off / scrapped

Originally I had set a goal for making around 50mil a day "passively" (E.G. very low effort for high reward). Even after the nerfs i'm still at about 15mil/day without including something I won't mention that does get to me 50mil/day because it would ruin the market.

My pvm loot tab is about 4 or 5x what my daily tab is. That isn't to brag but to say how potent having some structure to your rs3 playtime is alotted. That dailies can be about 20% of your overall pvm loot tab is kind of a crazy metric.

I have never personally understood the mentality that dailies are bad, or make me not want to play. These are not things I don't want to do.

Edit: Feel free to give me things to add to the list! if its above a certain value proposition threshold I'll do it.

Discussion Mod North appreciation 👑

I just finished watching the interview The Game Business done. It solidified my already present thoughts about this guy being an absolute chad. You can tell he's extremely driven and has the games long-term health at heart.

I'm ecstatic to see where we're going to be in 5 years time. Mod North is the best person we needed at the helm to bring this game back to the throne it deserves to rest on.

Discussion I'm hoping resolving minigames is on the 2027 Roadmap

2026 Road to Restoration saw Wilderness Flash Events get removed, a chunk of dailyscape removed or at least moved from "daily" to "weekly" or "monthly", and D&Ds also get impacted removing some from the set times to start.

A bunch of minigames are sadly still dead content.

Some are midgame content. some of it is the issue with PVP/PKing. some of it is enforced group play over optional. some of it is reward space. some of it is how it was a training method for a time before it was replaced by another.

I'm one of those that I am not really concerned about how devs go about addressing them anymore.

Remove them? Add bots/AI? Add or remove rewards? Transition them into more traditional PVM/skill training methods? Make them D&Ds? Make some Elite Skilling/Combat Dungeons? Make them soloable with option for group content?

There are no shortage of options on what to do and frankly anyone's suggestions about what to do with them is correct. Viable? I don't know, but still,

Discussion 1200 kills on Helwyr, still no sign of a trophy. At this point, I've doubled my kill count since getting the log. Are we sure this is the best implementation?

I started my trophy hunt on Helwyr, and while I've gotten 3 altar plans, I'm still missing the trophy after 1200 kills. If trophies aren't going to be a reward for log completion, could they at least be given a threshold system similar to pets?

Question Best use of overloads

So I have a whole bunch of overloads sitting in the bank, and I’ve been looking into making them into upgraded overload variants (i.e. aggroverloads, holy overloads etc.) but I’ve hit a snag. There’s so many variants of overloads I’m a bit lost on which variant(s) to use them for? For extra info, I do roughly equal amounts of slayer and bossing (currently 99 in slayer and the other combat stats outside of ranged).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for any replies guys!

Appreciation Kudos Jagex and, Runescape: it's a game not a chore (imho)

Jagex has really been pulling out all of the stops this year for game updates! Some of them I like, some I'm not interested in but, you know, that's fine.

So many people (at least on reddit) seem to get so worked up about exp rates, drop rates, complaining to Jagex about every little technicality that they think should be different. Like every update that isn't exactly how they want it is either a blunder, an insult, or malicious.

I think that the updates have been great. While I was looking forward to Sailing, even though it was a joke (I did try it in OSRS, but I can't stand playing OS), I have always felt that the map needed to grow so I like Havenhythe, I don''t like MTX so I was glad for Treasure Hunter to go, I've always liked the POH, but it was super tired and inflexible, so I am excited about the new one. Admittedly, I do have an issue with the movement of everyone to Jagex accounts, but that's mainly because I play on Linux and Linux doesn't like the steps you have to take to use the Jagex Launcher, so, for now, I play more on mobile.

It's just a video game. If you don't enjoy playing it, don't play it. If you think that the exp rates on Agility are terrible, then don't train agility. No one is forcing you to train it. You know what? I hate combat. It seems to come in two forms: dreadfully boring and overly intensive. So I don't do combat (yes, my main trained the combat skills to 99 back when I was getting my max cape, but have hardly touched them in the years since). I hate clue scrolls (dance wearing a bronze helmet? Why on earth would I own, buy, or make a bronze helmet? No thanks). So I've done maybe a couple dozen of them and that was probably a decade ago. I'm not going to complain to Jagex about how they're doing clue scrolls wrong. Some people are going to like them. Let those people do them...

You know what I do in Runescape? The skills I like.

I love firemaking. Even though my main hit 200m in firemaking years ago, I still sometimes do Maple Firelines because I like them.

I like smithing. Even though I found the smithing and mining update to be confusing at first, when I stumbled on the Masterwork Melee armor, I got right into it and smithed a set of trimmed masterwork armor from scratch. Yes, quite a time dump, but I was very excited to do it and am excited about getting my HCIM to do it as well (he needs to back off on Arch if he's going to pull that off).

I love archeology! It's my favorite skill yet (sorry Firemaking...). My HCIM got so into it that I forgot all about playing my Main. Then when my HCIM hit 114 Arch, I thought, oh I should look at my main. I did that to realize that while he had started Fort Forinthy (I also quite like Construction), he only got the buildings to level one (my HCIM had maxed them during their Arch breaks), so now my main is chopping wood, building frames, and building up Forinthy to 3's.

You know how much either of them think about exp rates, grind, or drop rates? Really, not at all. They play the game because they enjoy playing the game, regardless of the background technicalities. It's a game. And it's a continually evolving one that has kept me involved for 17 years and 12,000 hours of in-game time (per Hans) and I'm still at it (of course I have taken a number of long, sometimes multi-year, breaks). Enjoying the old, enjoying the new, and ignoring that which I don't like.

Thanks again Jagex for decades of work and for all the work recently undoing/redoing a bunch of old stuff that was in need of work.

Question Archaeology: Should I get Associate Qualifications

As the title suggests, I’m curious to know people’s feedback. I just hit 70 Archaeology and my current goal is to hit 86 so that I can do Gate of Elidinis. However, I need to restore approximately 125 more artifacts before I qualify for the new qualification you unlock at level 70.

Should I stop and power through the 125 artifacts at the first artifact location? Or should I just go about my business.

For reference, I heavily AFK archaeology with Grace of the Elves and rarely chase the sprite around.

Thanks for your input!

Question Anybody else noticed a drop in Seren spirit frequency since update?

Was doing some mining and archaeology for a couple hours and they didn't seem to spawn nearly as often as the Brooch orbs (only got 2). Admittedly anecdotal, but somebody else mentioned the same problem, which got me curious if the grace of the elves spirit rate is bugged somehow.

Not a big fan of the particles on the comp cape and the 120s. I find it overwhelming and world breaking. I understand that some people really enjoy them but is it too much to ask for an off toggle?

Discussion Need help - can't survive with Soul Split at Salawa akhs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Previously I posted a video using Protect Melee, Devotion ability, and Vamp aspect for sustain at hard hitting mobs like Salawa Akhs.

I was advised in the comments to use Soul split.

I've tried a few times but always end up dead at some point.

The AOE skills are on cooldown at some point and I just get swamped.

I can't seem to sustain enough with Soul Split.

Is my revo bar wrong? appreciate if someone can help advise!

my gear is 4 piece Masterwork, and poison gloves, with EOF and rune spikes.

Thanks!

Discussion Crazy idea for early/mid game bosses

With the change to instances players have no reason to ever go public making it even more of a ghost town in the open world.

My suggestion make the 4 gwd1 bosses the 4 gwd2 kbd and corp instanced like flesh hatcher public instance.

How it works all these bosses other then vindicta have a rotation that isn’t affected by its hp ( im not sure vindictas work around) so the bosses could just stay spawned and when you deal enough damage you get rewarded loot in a chest outside.

Why it’s a good idea; it will be a way new players can see that there are still players in the game and if they have questions there’s players there to answer or new players can find like minded players there and form friendships for harder bosses.

With POH now being useful and instances now being free it’s going to be even more hard to make new friends who want to pvm especially if you’re in the mid game.

How it would work; you set the cooldown speed just like how we have slow fast etc, then when the boss is in its cooldown phase a timer is over its head showing when it’s immunity runs out.

This isn’t for every boss but just some early game bosses to allow newer players to see stronger players using different rotations or things like vulnerability spells. Then asking questions on what they are doing.

It’s an absolute crazy idea that would completely change early / mid game bosses by having a chest but I think these bosses should be treated more as what social slayer should have been.

It’s not going to affect speed killers as they can pre build during boss immunity and know the exact tick it becomes immune.

Again it sounds like a massive shake up but before combat achievements telling people we should get to choose our own arraxor path and vorago rotation would have sounded absolutely ridiculous.

Discussion Road to Rushtoration - Mid game flop rushed and just ???

So the mid game "Rebalance" is here, and a few changes are good, for sure, but yet again we have a rush to pump and dump this content to hit markers, but the POH update so good its over shadowing how poor the mid game rebalance really is.

First lets go from the changes.

FLETCHING

Fletching re-tier a solid change, but shieldbows removed to "reduce inconsistency and noob traps" proceeds to add longbows, which have all the benefits of a shield bow, same damage, same accuracy but pull a +1 range, so essentially, we now have that same noobtrap, its just better to use a longbow...

Then we have filling in the gaps, no tier 30 bow and no tier 60 bow, (Yes I know hard woods CaNt bE BoWs), so make a path, that you use teak and mahogany to reinforce the tier 20/tier 50 bows to bring them up.

And Then crossbow changes just absolutely gutted bolts and their enchanted effects, they made the bolts then went, nah screw it lets not make enchanted versions for each of the tiers, the bolts are there, the enchanted framework is there, and I remember SEEING people already point out and mention this, and it just creates more issues and friction with crossbows and bolts being in a bad spot. An easier option is make different enchants go on different bolts and then have them scale like spells???, Remove the level requirements across the board including with bakriminels.

Basically we got half a fix for the skill.

AGILITY

We have one of the most active skills in the game, and yet the early and mid game changes are a big Nothing burger. Demonic skull was removed and yet wilderness agility, which was a best training method 52-99 was just looked and and straight up "Yeah nah 51k xp per hour is great, people love grinding that shit to 60 to then be forced into 60k xp until lvl 65, to then gain 10k more"

Wilderness agility should have atleast been buffed a bit to counteract the demonic skull removal, or had the demonic skull effect added to the diaries, e.g. easy diarys you get 1/4th of the boost, med gives 2/4ths, hard 3/4ths, elite the same effect as the skull gave prior. as most mid game players will do the easy/med achievements.

Aside from that the agility changes then push into the late/endgame section and its like 50% increase, 80%, 150%, 50%, 55%, 70%, 30%, 50%, 122%, ect, all for the late game courses, but alas the midgame was left in a shit spot.

DIVINATION

I am honestly not sure what to say here, this was a big fat nothing burger, it didn't fix anything to do with the skill or its progression and no-one is going to notice a 4%/3%/2.5% change, no fixes or changes to the skill itself, the curve, the slowness, the cache changes and nerfs, You could have changed nothing here and said nothing and everything would be as it was. Dungeoneering divination is still currently the best way to train past the shit buffering of this skill.

God wars dungeon 1/2 changes + instance costs

This is good, a fantastic mid game change, removes the buffer of drop rate optimizing gwd2, allows pre-prepping kc for gwd1 which for a mid gamer is great, since ik ik "WaRs BlEsSiNg" but thats a late midgame early endgame unlock generally this removes good friction, and instance costs being free is just a w, especially for early game.

INVENTION PERKS

W change removes the bad buffering and feeling you get wasting rolls on shit like biting 2 cautios, only L is that cheapskate wasn't a negative perk and was actually utilized in certain scenarios.

Demonic skull

W removal, was useless, but its effects should have been added to wildy diary for agility and charming moths.

Dive Ability

Straight up W, made 0 sense for it to be locked behind succession, similair could be said about the puzzle box and its benefits too, Adren drain should be an early pvm unlock, Maybe wars rewards space...

SANDSTONE

So this seems like a deception tactic "oh we reduced it by 50 hitpoints. but failed to mention the rock HAD 700 HARDNESS, and that the 50 reductions is also a big fat nothing burger, a 7% drop you won't notice, it works out to be about 25 more stones per hour.... 50 more per hour if you have the elite locations unlocked. so again you won't even notice it, considering these rocks follow the core rock mechanics but don't have Stone spirits, or rockertunitys, this is just bluegh and helps noone.

Harps

So what took around 20 hours prior to get what you required now takes around 16 hours, still not a W, more things in priff should provide harmonic dust, honestly you could have 100%'d this and that would have been the most optimal change here, but thieving should provide dust, mining, cleansisg crystals, every skilling interaction in priff should provide harmonic dust.

Jad pet

W change, should have long been a drop from jad

Gem Bag

W change, only thing I would have added was a +50 to the artificers measure given how endgame it is, but eh.

Drop rates

Dragon pick W, Vamp gloves, should be 1/200 on or off task personally.

CORP and LINZA

Idk what jmod is trying to get golden reaper and slipped this in, but tell me, where or how EITHER of these are mid game bosses and what you smoked to get there, Crop sigils still require NINETY prayer to attach, 90 prayer isnt fkn midgame, and as someone with a midgame account, my chance to hit crop is around 52%, I just get throttled.

Linza, I have a 64% chance on, she has 150k hitpoints, yeah 150,000, reflect mechanics, and takes me around 6.5 minutes to kill her, essentially tripling my barrows run time, so again, This feels like a jmod with a Golden reaper chase thats being burnt by these rates, because neither of these bosses are mid game, nor are they worth trying to kill mid game. I am calling bs on this being a midgame rebalance change in any way.

Luck

I mean luck rings should work on all content, its a noob trap here expecting your ring to work and it doesn't because reasons.

So thats all from the actual mid balance blog, But, What about the missed parts of the mid game??

We now have this weird system where we can craft appropriate melee armour and weapons, early mid and late game, We can craft appropriate ranged weapons and armour now balancing that act along the same curve. finally mage armour sort of falls here, but there is some buffering with mage armour from memory, and as for weapons? nope not a thing, There is just an unneccesary buffer and trap that doesn't stay consistent here, and then Necro just gets the best path of all.

Herblore is currently in an odd spot, because you farm what you need to make pots, but seeds have become super hard and annoying to come by since the we must nerf all herbs from pvm but never went back and rebalanced how irksome seeds are to obtain which has created this weird, lamp it up method more then having a viable way to obtain seeds, farm them and progress herblore naturally without quest lamping.

Hunter, Nerfed the absolute hell out of whirligis an active method, to then release jackalopes which are busted, which push for bgh which then hits 7m/hr rates, make it make sense.

Arch early game is some of the most horrible content for how slow and annoying it is, its a porter designed skill but most new players don't have that and its early game is in a shocking place where its optimal to lamp to 40+ now and skip the intro. (In saying that arch later is excellent for its progression, but the 1-50/60 grind feels worse and longer then 60-99.

Runecrafting was a big overlook here, I should not be 90 rcing and have an elite diary done to obtain my first runepouch. magical thread is in such a shit place, and that was a big midgame thing that should have been fixed and addressed. Runespan changes where kinda trash when they happened, but overall rcing as a whole is ok, but runespan should offer more as its a very "lean" in method, and rcing which is active which offers the best rates,

Pure essence is still in a stupidly shit spot of gathering which STILL hasn't been addressed, the bis method for essence is abbysal beasts/demons or a lvl 90 pickpocketing target, like seriously??. and again A rune essence pouch should not be an endgame item to obtain, even in osrs it only took me 2 hours to obtain my pouch, yet rs3, pre elite diary you're looking at 30+ hours, with elite diary you're still looking at 5-8 hours. absolutely disgusting.

Dungeoneering is great, one of the best changes they made, Warped stones are kinda eh, lvl 50 to 108 on my mid game account without seeing a stone, and 75m xp on my main iron account and no stones, but they're endgame so =/=, just adding it in there.

havenhythe has fixed the early summoning issues.

Early farming sadly is just POF, and this i think will remain, not ideal, farming runs should be a bis farming method over POF but ohwell. Wc is wc, fm is fm, fishing early is fine.

Midgame bossing.

Entry bossing kbd, mole, barrows, these arn't an early game thing, bossing even at this level is your midgame entry, Kbd/mole should be one of your first green logs in this game, yet kbd has some garbage kits at a 1/2k, that even endgame players go 10k dry on, mole just has some chasing issues, and barrows is good where it is. kalphite queen is a gear switching, so not bad where she is really, but kbd having drops of 1/2k, for an entry level boss is stupid. Midgame bosses being 400k hp dummys to is also stupid, flesh hatcher is midgame but carrys 135k hp, graardoor also midgame has 35k hp, make it make sense. flesh hatcher is 135k to slow down the endgame farmers more then to assist the midgame, ivar and silverquill honestly feels like they got it right.

Massive post

tl;dr Midgame changes where meh for the most part, heaps of other midgame fixes that are required, jmods chasing g reaper slipping in changes for end game bosses, overall mid progression still rubbish, Just my thoughts but also my feedback, because mid game is what will keep or kill off new players and right now for me my mid game accounts can stay stagnant.

Suggestion Are you going to make the new cauldrons actually useful, Jagex?

The new cauldrons, which are supposed to be a reward from the huge POH update, one of the only actually (possibly) useful things in the update, is useless at the moment.

There is no benefit to using the cauldron versus just bringing overloads in your inventory. At best, it saves 1 inventory space, which is trivial and doesn't really affect any bossing encounters.

In fact, it's worse to use the cauldron. It uses 20% more overload than not using it. With the cauldron and lantadyme incense sticks, you get 62 minute of overload, since it just counts taking the 10 sips as 1 sip. If you were to just drink overloads from your inventory, you would get 80 minutes of overload for 10 sips. Or 8 sips for the hour (64 minutes, better than the cauldron even).

My request would be for the cauldrons to treat sips individually for the purpose of lantadyme sticks, otherwise there's really zero point in using the cauldron. Also there should be a "sip x" option, so you can sip 8 with sticks for the hour buff, since most people still default to 1 hour of pvm instead of 80 minutes.
