Me and my bf are going to Rome in early October (3-4), were we are planing on seeing the city at night after arriving, and only sleep there for one night before we move upwards to Florence with train.

Is there any specific district/place we should stay? Our budget is around 100€ per person for the night alone. If there are any other tips related to the above fire away!

We are flying into Rome and need to get to Cortona. Is there a train close to the airport? Can we travel directly from the airport to Cortona? Can I purchase tickets online ahead of time? We will have several pieces of luggage so we're trying to avoid walking long distances.

I am visiting Rome for a couple days at the end of the month. I have a mobility disability that gives me a lot of pain especially when walking, balance issues, and a lot of knee and ankle instability that can cause falls. I can walk (for short distances, think >0.2 miles), but can't do many stairs- maybe one set of short steps w/ railing.

I think it's great many museums offer free tickets for disabled visitors BUT I'm from the UK so I don't have an EU disability card. I do have a doctor's letter though, so I'm hoping this will be sufficient but I'm definitely worried about being turned down for access as I am a) young b) my disability isn't 'visible' (or at least not easily).

That being said, I'm looking forward to my trip and have tried to research, given my mobility issues, but would love any additional tips for getting around esp, anything to consider at main sites around the city!

For e.g, any experience getting from the Musei Vaticani to St. Peter's as I believe the options are either stairs or going 1km+ round the outside of the walls.

As an aside, if anyone knows has any (less touristic - AKA no long lines!) spots for food that are accessible, let me know (though honestly it looks like I'll be spoiled for choice!)

It's my birthday on July 23, and I'm trying to plan something fun in Rome. There will be around 10 of us, and we're all Erasmus students.
The problem is that we've already been living here for a while and have seen most of the main tourist attractions, so I'm looking for something a bit different.
I'm thinking maybe:
A nice cocktail bar with a fun atmosphere
A rooftop with good views
A place with games or activities
Something unique that's good for a group
I'd like it to be social and not ridiculously expensive since we're students.
Does anyone have recommendations for places or birthday ideas in Rome? Thanks!

Hi currently in Rome for another month and half or so, living in Via Giuseppe area near portuense, but I come into Trastevere and piazza navona area often. But I love walking around the entirety of this city. 20 years old, looking to find places where I can go to meet some people?

Once inside St Peter's Basilica, are there usually further queues to buy elevator tickets to access the dome?

In the past 10 years, I’ve found myself in Rome over and over again. I have seen the tourist sites, eaten the required local specialities, and so on. I just spent the past few days with a friend visiting all the typical spots a person who has never been to the city wants to see. I now have 2 days alone before returning home. What would you suggest be done with that time? Priorities are good food, good drinks, and good vibes (and staying semi-cool in the 35+ temps). I’d be interested in everything from your off-the-beaten-path tips to suggestions that involve simply leaving Rome for a nice day trip. Sorry to add to the 1000x tourist posts here!

So this morning I wake up expecting to catch my connecting 10pm flight to Dubai and then Australia.

I get an email from the travel agent saying my flight is delayed to 4.45pm? What! I had no idea it even changed to earlier?

So I mildly panic pack and then get to FCO. I confirm with Emirates if I'm on the delayed flight. Nope, still flying at 10pm. No bloody clue what happened, absolutr f**k around.

Can someone entertain me or tell me how to kill time? 😅

I’m interested in visiting the Vatican September 23. It looks like everything is already sold out other than 5 or 5:30. I foolishly thought tickets were released 60 days out? Seems that was incorrect. 😭How is the guided tour through the official site? We normally like to go at our own pace but since the tour has mornings we are considering. Or what about Get Your Guide or similar options? TIA!

I need some advice regarding an unfair fine I received today from an ATAC inspector on Bus Line in Rome.

I bought and activated a BIT ticket (100 minutes) via the TicketAppy app.

Ticket Activation Time: 16:56:44 (Valid until 18:36:44)

inspection Started (written on fine): 18:35

Fine Issued: 18:38

When the inspector checked my phone at 18:35, my ticket was still valid for another minute and a half. However, the officer completely ignored this and falsely wrote on the fine ticket: "Titolo obliterato durante la verifica" (Ticket validated during inspection)!!!!!! claiming I only activated it because I saw them!!!!

This is completely untrue, the app clearly proves the ticket was activated nearly 100 minutes earlier at 16:56!

Can I formally appeal this fine? Is there a specific process or portal (other than sending a regular email/reclamation) to cancel an ATAC fine issued by mistake/power trip?

What happens if I lodge an official appeal and just DON'T pay it? Since the inspection started at 18:35 and my ticket was valid until 18:36:44, the timestamp evidence is 100% on my side. If they don't respond to my complaint, can I just ignore the payment without worrying about it?

Has anyone successfully appealed a similar situation with digital app tickets in Rome? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I just flew home to Germany from Italy this morning and managed to forget my phone in the rental car from a company close to the airport (Fiumicino). Luckily they found the phone. Yey!

Problem: every single pick up service/company I found will not package the phone and the rental company won't do it either. I understand that it's probably some kind of policy thing so they are not responsible for any damage, but how do I work around the issue?

The phone is waiting there for pick up, I can pay for a courier - no problem - but they won't take it unpackaged. Is there any solution to this issue? I've been researching on reddit, checked about 100 services but somehow there seems to be nothing.

I would be deeply grateful for any advice, tipps, experience... I know this is 100% my fault, I just want my phone back. Thank you!
