Creation The ship is now very shippy!

With a spaceship model I had lying around, I brought it into studio, built the hitbox, and the thruster effects, and then with Codex I stitched and restructured the ship’s systems to get everything working correctly, and with that. We got a Star Fox!

Next steps I wanna do are: Charge shots, a rail node type that acts as a fork in the road, more enemies and a rudimentary main menu so I can hit play and. Well. Play. And some improvements to the rail end node

Discussion Best way to gain 500 engaged players?

i just released a game called merge it on roblox, ofc roblox bugged out the engagement but i would say it’s at 5/500 rn, the game is stuck at 16+ until i can reach the 500 player count so it’s definitely harder to grow the game, if anyone has any tips on getting players that would be great!

Discussion Working on a story-driven trench horror game set in 1914 Budapest. Honest thoughts on this Act 1 loop?

Upvotes

I’m currently solo-developing a atmospheric, story-driven horror/tactical survival game on Roblox. I wanted to throw the core concept for Act 1 out here to see if this is something you’d actually be interested in playing. The Vibe & Setting Setting: 1914 – The Trenches of Budapest. Atmosphere: Dark, claustrophobic mud trenches, heavy green poison gas rolling through, rain, and minimal HUD elements. Gameplay: 1-4 Player Co-op tactical objective survival (think Guts & Blackpowder mechanics mixed with Lethal Company objective tension). Act 1: "The Sabotage" (10-15 Min Core Loop) Spawn: You and your squad spawn in a muddy trench dugout under heavy gas bombardment. You have to put on a gas mask (which reduces your field of view with a custom visor/overlay). The Objective: Navigate the foggy trench network while fighting off slow, relentless Shambler undead to recover 3 Electrical Fuse Packs from abandoned bunkers. The Trap: Bring the fuses back to power up a central Tesla Pylon to open the main escape gate. The Holdout: Once activated, you have to survive a 3-minute wave holdout in a tight junction box area against a heavy horde (and a fast-moving "Mimic" variant) while the electrical tram powers up. Escape: Board the tram to clear Act 1. Key Features Planned: Bolt-action firearms with manual chambering/reloading. Gas mask visor mechanics (cracks when damaged, fogs up if sprinting too long). Objective-based linear levels (No endless wave grinding or brainless bandit beating). Modular expansion (Acts 2–5 will take players through dead forests, abandoned fortresses, and underground bunkers). My Questions for You: Would you play this? If not, what would make you want to try it? Gas Mask Mechanic: Does a screen overlay/visor mechanic sound immersive to you, or annoying? What is missing? What’s one feature you always wish more Roblox horror/survival games had? Be as honest as you want with feedback—criticism helps a lot before I jump deep into Studio!

Discussion What do I sell LMAOOO ??

Yo guys! Need a bit of advice. I’ve been scripting and developing in Roblox Studio for 3 years, and I’m trying to make sales to fund my upcoming game and help out my mom.

I already have a vault of completed assets ready to go:

  • Movement Systems: R15, R6, and full FPS movement
  • Combat & AI: Smart Monster AI (with models) + a modular Gun System
  • Assets: A bunch of clean building props

What’s the best way to package and market these right now? Should I bundle them into complete game kits or sell them separately on Discord/Creator Store? Appreciate any tips!

Discussion How much should I expect to pay for commissioning a scripter to fully script a "Pound the Mochi" style game?

I've never commissioned/hired a dev for a game, I've only ever worked hand-in-hand with other modelers in the UGC market, so I'm entirely new to development prices. I'm no scripter, but I can build/model, so if i create all assets, FX, and GUI, how much should I expect to pay someone to script the rest?

Help Me With Modelling Geometric Instancong

So right now, my game is having a ton of identical assets. I know what geometric instancing can do, and roblox automatically grouping meshes. However, I want to know what the limits of it are. If I have 15 models instanced like 5000 times each, is that going to cause massive lag, or is geometric Instancing gonna be able to handle it? Btw: each mesh is about 100 to 200 triangles

Creation I Made a Cat Card Game (Looking for Feedback/Need Advice)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! This is my personally designed card game called Purrsonal Collection. I originally designed it for physical media only but decided to make a Roblox digital version to see how players interact with the game and to help it grow with a community behind it. However, in my first couple days of running ads, I am getting way worse conversions than I expected. The last two images are examples of some thumbnails I have been trying. I know they are not great, but I was wondering how I could improve my thumbnails and also how I can improve the game itself to have better stickiness. Even if I can generate a very small group of fans, I would be happy with that result. This is my second time uploading an experience to Roblox; the first was a slop obby. That one had way better CTR and CPP but much worse gameplay, so I feel kind of lost.

Creation I’m building a high-stakes lava-chase obby with perks, solo, and competitive modes, what do you think of this setup?

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a project in Roblox Studio and wanted to share a mechanic I’ve been developing. It’s an intense survival-style obstacle course where a wall of lava constantly chases you from behind, forcing you to keep moving while dodging obstacles in front of you.

For more details inbox me or leave a comment. I’d love to hear feedback from the community.

Discussion I wish Roblox didn't get such a bad wrap, and that Roblox game development was taken more seriously

You can look anywhere on Reddit (and honestly most social media sites) and if there is any mention of Roblox at all, it's instantly flamed. In Reddit game dev communities, it's not even considered real game development. Many subreddits have categories for different game engines, none of them include Roblox as an option. When I talk about my game dev, I have to hide the fact that I'm making a Roblox game in order to be taken seriously and not receive hate.

To an extent, I get it. There are a lot of Roblox games that are pretty bad in terms of predatory monetization and quality. It's not taken as seriously because it's a platform primarily for children (although that is rapidly changing as the playerbase ages.)

Some of my favorite games I've ever played were on Roblox, and I never spent a dime on them. There definitely are bad games though. But there are bad and predatory games made in other engines as well.

But more than that, I'm making a multiplayer Roblox RPG now, and I've come to appreciate how complex Roblox game development is. Sure, if you're making an Obby or something, you're not going to touch the same level of complexity or depth as other genres. But I'm a software engineer with over a decade of coding experience. Roblox programming is the most difficult programming I have ever done. This project is the most challenging thing I've ever made. I've probably spent over a thousand hours working on this project, and it sucks to be written off instantly in most communities just because of the platform. To not even be able to discuss my game, or share it in communities that are not specific to Roblox, is really frustrating.

Even in this community, which is specifically for Roblox game development, most of the posts are complaining about the platform in some way (and to be fair, some of them are justified.) I just wish there were positive communities for Roblox game devs. I can tell you this isn't easy, and making a successful Roblox game is challenging, even if there is some low effort content that makes it big.

Discussion How many impressions should I expect from home recs if all my benchmarks are in green territory ?

It seems like home recs impressions are starting to pick up but it’s only like 15k impressions and seems to be doubling everyday ? Is it possible that home recs can. Reach millions of impressions per day shortly if it likes your games stats ?
