Mod Post Attention: Dragonfruit Resin Slicer is now public.

The Open Resin Alliance is proud to announce that **DragonFruit** is now officially open-source under the **AGPL-3.0** license!

While we are not quite ready to release the official public beta build (0.2.0) just yet, we are making build **0.1.6** publicly available effective immediately.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the project, and we’re excited to welcome contributions from the community - whether that means bug reports, fixes, feature ideas, testing, or simply experimenting and having fun with the slicer.

As part of this transition, all issue tracking and bug reports are now being moved to **GitHub Issues** instead of the Discord forum. Please do not open any new support or bug-report threads in the Discord forum going forward. Existing active threads may be migrated to GitHub where appropriate.

We would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported the project so far - contributors, testers, early adopters, and community members alike. Your feedback and support helped make this possible, and we are only just getting started.

https://slicer.openresin.org

This is a massive step forward for the community.

NOTE: This is still early, not all printers are supported yet (if your print isn't there, but uses a file format that is, you CAN make a custom profile to try it out.)

Safety If anyone is interested, I did a deep dive into resin safety!

Hello! Just FYI, my website isn't monetized in any way, nor do I sell anything.

I often see questions and advice on resin safety, but rarely do I see any actual citations or primary sources. So I decided to dig into the chemistry and research myself. I've compiled my findings into this article:

https://aarondevelops.com/beyond-the-build-plate/

TL;DR is that much of the common wisdom is correct, but there's still some persistent misconceptions that float through the community. In case you don't want to read through the article, I was surprised to learn that eco-resins are actually generally less hazardous. I fully expected that to all be marketing bullshit. I was also surprised to learn that curing isn't some "safe zone" moment. Models that have been cleaned and cured are (a) often not actually fully cured, and (b) still emitting harmful gases and toxins. Lastly, I was surprised to learn that the print process itself isn't remarkably higher in terms of hazardous VOCs than washing or curing. It's definitely the smelliest part, but there's a similar level of TVOCs during all phases of the process.

Work In Progress Preparing lowpoly models for printing - Fallout 4 Deathclaw

Hello everyone! I'm in the process of preparing some Fallout 4 models for printing (personal use, can't share) but I thought some people might be interested by the process.

Picture 1 is the final result, picture 2 is the low poly model subdivided, and picture 3 is the raw mesh.

I got the original mesh from the game sources, but it's really low-poly. So I got on a hunt for a method to restore it to a decent enough standard to send it to the printer. My method so far:

  • import model in blender
  • subdivide modifier, set to 5
  • put the normal map through a program to transform it into a displacement map
  • use a displacement modifier with the displacement map

There is some tweaking here and there, but so far it's pretty straightforward. The next step is a test print, to see how good it'll look and how well it takes paint, and figure out how to import the rig and animation th get cool poses out of him.

Hope you find it useful!

Question Wash station lid cracked?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys, I've recently bought a used wash station with some minor cracks in it.

I had the inner wash tank full of ipa standing in my enclosure with the orange UV lid ontop. 3 days later I found it cracked all over like that. Could that be because of IPA fumes or something?

Elegoo Mars 5

Elegoo ABS-like 3.0

Whatever Elegoo's Proprietary Software is Called

I have been trying to get this thing to work for WEEKS. I have tried "leveling" the build plate. I have changed FEP. I put in a brand new LCD. Today, my print looks like the attached picture. For Pete's Sake, please just tell me what settings I need to change to make it work. I am spending too much time and money on this stuff. Was I bamboozled? Was I scammed? Someone please help, and please understand that the technojargon is going to just confuse me more.

Question Printing bigger then my plate

Thumbnail

So im printing a huge dragon in multiple parts an I didn’t take into account how big the base would be. The support raft is what’s hanging off the plate bit the print itself is fine.
What’s the likelihood of me being able to successfully print this? Any settings I should use?

Troubleshooting Cylindrical shape has vertical lines, how to fix?

Hi all, as seen on the pic below Chitubox has loaded my model with vertical lines that makes it seem like a dodecagon. The prints came out the same way as in the picture.

The original file was created to have a Cylinder there. My FDM printer loads the model as it should, however I need to print this in resin.

Printer is Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k and all other models that i printed before were smooth and were excellent.

Troubleshooting Prints are molten mess

Recently got a resin printer, and been slowly getting more and more to actually stay printed and not just look molten. Everything i print looks around the same, and after googling and messing with settings i have no clue what the reason could be. Any reason the supports print okay(ish at best) but besides one base kinda nothing ever sticks?

Question Thinking about getting rid of my printer

Me and my wife got an Elegoo Mars 5 ultra combo in May 2025 thinking we were going to make and paint minis for our DnD games. We also have an FDM printer.

In the past year we haven't used it as much as we thought we would. We've made like 20 minis in total and I guess we were just a bit too scared of the health risks that everyone talks about.

We live in a 2-bedroom apartment and we have it set up in our living room, it sits right next to a large window which was always open when printing.

Now this year around October we are expecting our first child and I'm finding it hard to justify keeping the printer in our living room. My wife is saying that she enjoys painting minis but just didn't get enough time for it this year.

With all this information, I'm curious what other people would do in my situation. Do I try to get a tent with a fan and vent the fumes outside for an extra layer of precaution or should I just sell the printer second hand somewhere and cut my losses?

(sorry if I wasn't entirely coherent, this is something that's been bothering me for a while and I still find it hard to put my thoughts in order on the subject)

Question Been printing for a while want to level ul

So i have a model of Kane from the legacy of Kane series and the parts wont fit together which im aware is a tolerance issue. . Ive been looking around and alot of the answers I found kinda divulge into nonsense.

From my understanding is I either need to make whatever parts I need a bit smaller or to sand down the male connecting pieces and then go in and do some reain welding to fill whatever gap is left

Just looking to see if im going in the right direction

Troubleshooting Prints failing in odd way

Hey all, any experienced resin printers here know what could cause this? I've been printing fdm for a long time but picked up a mars 5 ultra last month.

I've had mostly success, but I've noticed when chucking a bunch of stuff on the bed, prints one side of the bed (the front) are often failing.

Below is a pic of a plate of small helmets, you can see only the back ones succeeded. My gut tells me leveling but my understanding was the mars 5 ultra has self levelling... any help would be much appreciated

Question Having a odd thing happen any ideas?

Have a Mars 2pro. Recently when removing prints im noticing there seems to be the first layer is the whole footprint. Then it starts with the actual printed area. so there is a thin rectangle covering the whole print. I dont know why this is there doesnt seem to be a setting in Lychee to do this for a single layer and my prints are just minis so they start with the standard circles for supports. Any idea why it seems my first layer the whole screen is turning on?
